Dingler isn't in the lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against Pittsburgh, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Dingler will grab a seat on the bench for the final half of Thursday's festivities after going 1-for-3 with two runs scored in a win during Game 1. Jake Rogers will take over behind the plate and bat eighth.

Newman was removed from Thursday's game against the Yankees in the seventh inning due to an ankle injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Newman was sore after twisting his ankle, but he's expected to be available to play Friday versus the Astros. He went hitless in three plate appearances Thursday before departing.

Holton will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher for Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Pirates, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Keider Montero is likely to absorb the bulk of the innings out of the bullpen. It will be the fourth opener assignment this season for Holton, who has allowed two runs with a 5:0 K:BB over four innings in his first three tries.

Abreu (oblique) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game in San Francisco, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

The reported corresponding move will be Kristian Campbell being sent down to Triple-A Worcester, although neither transaction is official yet. Abreu has played two rehab games with Worcester, going 1-for-6, and is in line to return following a minimum 10-day absence due to a left oblique strain. He should play regularly against righties upon his activation, although some of his starts figure to come at designated hitter, given the presence of Roman Anthony.

The Red Sox are expected to option Campbell to Triple-A Worcester ahead of Friday's series opener against the Giants, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Campbell broke into the big leagues with a .301/.407/.495 batting line through the end of April, but he has slashed only .159/.243/.222 since and has also struggled defensively at second base. He'll get a reset at Worcester and has a good chance to rejoin the big club later this season. David Hamilton has started each of the last three games at second base for the Red Sox and should continue to hold down the position for the time being against righties. Once Alex Bregman (quad) comes back, Marcelo Mayer is an option to shift to the keystone.

Roden was a late scratch from Thursday's lineup versus the Diamondbacks due to right knee inflammation, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

It's not clear when or how Roden was hurt, but the Blue Jays could provide more information on his status after the game. Will Robertson has entered the lineup in Roden's place.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Thursday that Straw (ankle) is feeling better and is expected to avoid a stint on the injured list, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Straw sprained his right ankle in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks and will remain out of the lineup Thursday for a second straight game, but he looks to be trending toward playing in this weekend's series with the White Sox. Jonatan Clase exited that same game with a knee injury, but he's back in the lineup Thursday as the Blue Jays' starting center fielder. Once Straw overcomes his ankle injury, he'll likely occupy the short side of a platoon with Clase in center until Daulton Varsho (hamstring) is cleared to come off the IL.

Rave is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers.

Rave had started in both of the Royals' previous two matchups with right-handed pitching, but his playing time could become more scarce moving forward while he's struggled to get going at the plate. Since getting called up from Triple-A Omaha on May 26, Rave is slashing .200/.242/.267 with a 31.4 percent strikeout rate over 35 plate appearances.

Loftin is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers.

Loftin had started in five of the previous six games, but he went just 2-for-17 with two triples and two walks during that stretch. He'll bow out of the lineup for the series finale, paving the way for Drew Waters to pick up a start in left field.

The Rays optioned Sulser to Triple-A Durham on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Sulser made three appearances after being recalled from Triple-A last week, allowing one earned run while striking out four batters over 2.1 frames. He owns a 3.21 ERA through 14 MLB innings this season but will head back to the minors in favor of Connor Seabold, who will give the team another fresh arm to work with.
