Clarke went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 11-4 loss to the Tigers.

The rookie center fielder got hold of a Tarik Skubal two-seamer over the heart of the plate in the second inning and drove it 422 feet to straightaway center field, but the A's offense went dry after that while the Tigers kept roaring. It was Clarke's second career homer, and he hadn't even driven in a run since his last one, which came back on May 31. Since his big-league debut May 23, he's slashing just .207/.233/.299 in 90 plate appearances, but his highlight-reel defense has kept him in the lineup.

Triple-A Columbus activated Brito (thumb) from the 7-day injured list Wednesday.

Brito needed surgery in late April to repair a high-grade ligament sprain in his right thumb, but he's ready to go after playing seven rehab games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The 23-year-old infielder slashed .291/.406/.491 with two home runs and four steals in 16 games for Columbus before getting hurt. Brito could eventually become an option for Cleveland at second base if he plays well at Columbus.

Hader picked up the save Tuesday against Philadelphia, logging two strikeouts over a scoreless ninth inning.

Hader became the third closer to reach 20 saves this season, joining Carlos Estevez and Robert Suarez. Hader has struck out multiple batters in 11 of his last 13 appearances and owns a 2.03 ERA, a 0.68 WHIP and a 26:2 K:BB during that stretch.

Rooker went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 11-4 loss to the Tigers.

The 30-year-old slugger jumped on the first pitch he saw from Tarik Skubal, turning on a 96-mph fastball and ripping it deep down the left-field line to get the A's on the board. Rooker has been locked in for most of June, slashing .317/.417/.512 over 22 games with three of his 16 homers and 12 of his 43 RBI on the season.

Severino (2-8) took the loss Tuesday as the A's were routed 11-4 by the Tigers, surrendering seven runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out two.

The ball was flying out of Comerica Park after a two-hour rain delay, as both Severino and Tarik Skubal served up two homers each in the first three innings, but the A's right-hander came away with the worst of it. It's the third time in five June starts he's been tagged for five runs or more, and on the month Severino carried a ghastly 7.14 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 14:9 K:BB through 29 innings. Things won't get any easier for him in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend against his former club, the Yankees.

Santana went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 10-6 loss to the Blue Jays.

The veteran switch hitter got the Guardians on the board in the sixth inning by taking Eric Lauer deep, Santana's ninth homer of the season. The multi-hit effort was his first in June, however, and through 19 games on the month he's slashing just .186/.230/.286 with two home runs and eight RBI.

Allen (5-5) took the loss Tuesday as the Guardians were downed 10-6 by the Blue Jays, giving up four runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

The southpaw nearly eked out a quality start, but Allen got lifted after 104 pitches (70 strikes) with runners on the corners and two outs in the sixth inning, and Bo Bichette coming to the plate. It's only the second time this season Allen has been allowed to cross the 100-pitch threshold, and he continues to have difficulty putting together a long stretch of effectiveness. Over his last six appearances (five starts) he's gone 3-3 with a 4.88 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 20:11 K:BB in 27.2 innings. He'll look for a better result in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Cardinals.

Springer went 3-for-5 with a grand slam and two additional runs scored in Tuesday's 10-6 win over the Guardians.

The veteran outfielder ended a 12-game homerless drought when he wiped the bases clean in the eighth inning, crushing a Hunter Gaddis fastball 421 feet to left-center field. Springer continues to put a disappointing 2024 behind him, and through 19 contests in June he's slashing .254/.297/.433 with three of his 11 homers and 13 of his 36 RBI on the season.

Lauer (4-1) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks over 5.1 innings in a 10-6 victory over the Guardians. He struck out five.

The lefty held Cleveland off the board until the sixth inning before Carlos Santana belted a solo shot, but Toronto had already built a 4-0 lead. Lauer has been outstanding in June, posting a 1.71 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB in 21 innings over five appearances (three starts), and even with Max Scherzer (thumb) set to return Wednesday, his spot in the rotation seems secure. Lauer will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in Boston.

Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Tuesday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Rangers.

While the 32-year-old flexed his muscles by taking Chris Martin deep in the seventh inning to get the Orioles on the board, Sanchez arguably cost his team more runs than he created. Texas went 5-for-5 on steal attempts against the backstop, including three by Sam Haggerty after he entered the game in the eighth inning as a pinch hitter, and Sanchez also struggled to protect the plate -- the Rangers' first run came when he couldn't corral a Ramon Laureano throw in the fourth inning as Corey Seager scored from second on a single, and the game-winning run came when Sanchez was a heartbeat slow to tag Evan Carter on a fielder's choice. Sanchez has gone 5-for-15 with five RBI in five games since Adley Rutschman (oblique) was sidelined, but his hold on the starting job could slip if his defensive work remains subpar.
