Short is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Short had started at shortstop in each of the past four games, going 4-for-13 with two doubles, one walk, three RBI and two runs. Mauricio Dubon will get the nod at shortstop Wednesday, but the Astros may have room for both players in the middle infield on a fairly consistent basis until Jeremy Pena (rib) returns from the 10-day injured list.

The Guardians announced Wednesday that Ramirez won't participate in 2025 All-Star Game festivities next week while he focuses on recovery and preparation for the second half of the season.

Though the historically durable Ramirez has thus far avoided any trips to the injured list this season, he's been banged up at various points through the first three-plus months of the campaign. As Zack Meisel of The Athletic notes, Ramirez sprained his wrist in late March, sprained his ankle in early May, and was most recently hit in the forearm by a pitch in late June. None of the injuries are expected to hinder Ramirez moving forward, and he'll remain in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale in Houston. Expect Ramirez to continue handling his usual everyday role during the Guardians' four-game series against the White Sox later this week to close out the first half before he uses the All-Star break for extended rest and recovery. The Astros' Isaac Paredes is slated to replace Ramirez on the American League All-Star roster.

Gasper (foot) was reinstated from Triple-A St. Paul's 7-day injured list Tuesday and went 1-for-4 in his return to the lineup.

Gasper served as St. Paul's designated hitter in his return to the lineup after he had missed about two and a half weeks while recovering from plantar fasciitis. The 29-year-old utility player owns a .316/.418/.600 slash line with 10 home runs and two steals in 41 games at the Triple-A level this season.

Wilson (hand) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

After taking a pitch off his left hand during Tuesday's win, Wilson will get an extra day off to recover from the injury. Max Muncy will fill the void at shortstop for the Athletics and bat sixth.

Isbel is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

The left-handed-hitting Isbel will take a seat for the series finale while the Pirates send left-hander Bailey Falter to the bump. Tyler Tolbert will pick up the start in center field in place of Isbel, who has gone 3-for-24 with two runs and two RBI through his first seven games of July.

The Guardians optioned Herrin to Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.

Herrin has turned in a 3.99 ERA and 1.50 WHIP through 29.1 innings with the Guardians this season, but he'll be sent to Triple-A to clear room for Kolby Allard. The 28-year-old Herrin is only a year removed from posting a 1.92 ERA and 0.97 WHIP during the 2024 regular season, and if he can recapture that form while in the minors, he should have a good chance to return to Cleveland at some point this summer.

The Yankees recalled Vivas from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old infielder will come up from Triple-A due to the open spot on the 26-man active roster created by the Yankees designating veteran infielder DJ LeMahieu for assignment. Vivas has posted a poor .522 OPS through 51 plate appearances in the majors this season, though he's slashed .254/.390/.354 since returning to Triple-A in early June. Oswald Peraza will make his fourth straight start at third base Wednesday against the Mariners, but manager Aaron Boone said that Vivas and J.C. Escarra will also vie for playing time at the position after Jazz Chisholm was recently moved over to second base, per Chris Kirschner of The Athletic.

O'Hoppe isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Texas, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

O'Hoppe will take a seat on the bench for the second time this series after going 0-for-3 with a strikeout Tuesday. Travis d'Arnaud will fill in at catcher and bat eighth.

Orioles manager Tony Mansolino said Sunday that Tromp (back) hasn't been cleared to resume baseball activities, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Tromp is one of four Orioles catchers on the 40-man roster who resides on the injured list. Like Tromp, Maverick Handley (concussion) and Gary Sanchez (knee) are also shut down from activities, while Adley Rutschman (oblique) has resumed running and taking swings off a tee but still appears to be weeks away from a return. The Orioles appear set to get by with Jacob Stallings and Alex Jackson as their catching tandem through the All-Star break, and likely to begin the second half.
