The Rays acquired Fairchild from Atlanta on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations.

Fairchild had been designated for assignment Monday and will now head to a new club. The right-handed-hitting outfielder has a career .746 OPS against left-handed pitching and could see some starts versus southpaws.

Cason hasn't made an appearance in the rookie-level Florida Complex League since May 3 due to right arm fatigue, Geoff Pontes of Baseball America reports.

The two-way player wasn't throwing at the time Pontes issued his report in early June, although Cason had begun hitting. Cason probably has more realistic upside as a right-handed pitcher than as a shortstop at this stage of his development. The 18-year-old struck out five while issuing one walk over two no-hit innings in his one appearance on the mound and went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and two strikeouts in his two games as a hitter.

Caceres is slashing .298/.428/.488 with three home runs, five steals, a 17.1 percent walk rate and an 11.2 percent strikeout rate through 38 games in the Arizona Complex League.

Caceres has been easily the most productive 17-year-old in the ACL this year -- he has a 144 wRC+ and Kevin Garcia's 103 wRC+ is the second-best figure among the handful of 17-year-olds on the circuit. Caceres also compares favorably to the 18-year-olds in the ACL, as his 144 wRC+ ranks ninth among 57 hitters in the league that are 18 and under. He lacks impact speed and may end up in left field, but Caceres is one of the Guardians' better pure hitters in the lower levels.

McDougal has a 1.20 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 65:16 K:BB in 52.2 innings over his last 10 starts across High-A and Double-A.

McDougal earned a promotion from High-A Winston-Salem to Double-A Birmingham on June 18 and hasn't skipped a beat, registering a 0.89 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 38:8 K:BB in 30.1 innings through six starts for the Barons. The 6-foot-5 righty had Tommy John surgery in 2021 and it wasn't until this year that he started throwing enough strikes to start, as he logged a 13.6 percent walk rate at Single-A and High-A in 2024. McDougal has big-time stuff, boasting a triple-digit fastball and a hammer curveball. He'll need to be added to the 40-man roster this season to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, and McDougal is trending toward being a prominent part of the White Sox rotation in 2026.

Mejia has a 2.17 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 47:22 K:BB in 37.1 innings in the Florida Complex League.

A 6-foot-3 righty who signed with Baltimore in January of 2024, Mejia won't turn 19 until spring training and has as much upside as any pitcher in the lower levels. According to Josh Norris of Baseball America, Mejia's fastball has been up to 102 mph and he shows off multiple offspeed pitches that will be between 60-grade and 80-grade pitches in time. Given how hard he throws and how young he is, Mejia's risk of arm injury is elevated, and his 13.8 percent walk rate illustrates the difficulty of reining in such an electric arsenal. He only recorded two outs while walking three batters and giving up three unearned runs in his most recent start Thursday.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said that Carpenter (hamstring) completed running drills at full speed Monday at Comerica Park, Evan Petzold of The Detroit Free Press reports.

Hinch noted that if Carpenter's right hamstring responds well to the workout when he's re-evaluated Tuesday, the next step for the outfielder/designated hitter will be to head out on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo later this week. Carpenter has been on the shelf since July 2, so he'll likely need at least a couple of games in the minors to regain his timing at the plate before he makes his return to the Detroit lineup, perhaps early next week.

Diaz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk Monday against the White Sox.

Diaz slugged his 16th home run of the season in the seventh inning to continue his strong performance in July. He's hit .306 across 72 plate appearances during the month with three homers, 11 RBI and 11 runs.

Robert went 2-for-4 with two RBI on Monday against the Rays.

Robert extended his hitting streak to eight games, pre-dating the All-Star break. He has hit .393 with two home runs, eight RBI, eight runs scored and three stolen bases in that span. Robert remains in the lower half of the White Sox's batting order, but that could change if he keeps up his recent caliber of production.

Rafaela went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Phillies.

Rafaela, who saw an end to a 12-game hit streak Sunday, was back at it Monday with a two-hit night. He's been on a tear the last month, going 31-for-94 (.330) with 10 doubles, eight home runs, 22 RBI, four steals and 19 runs scored over the last 25 contests.

Bregman is not at 100 percent when running the bases, but he's still expected to continue handling a near-everyday role, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Bregman's abilities on the bases appeared to be compromised during Monday's extra-inning loss to the Phillies, when he was unable to score from first base on a Roman Anthony double down the right field line. He eventually scored two pitches later, so his tentative baserunning didn't end up costing the Red Sox. As Cotillo reported when Bregman returned to action prior to the All-Star break, manager Alex Cora said that the veteran third baseman would not be running hard in certain situations as the Red Sox aim to preserve his health. Since Bregman was activated from the injured list July 11, the Red Sox have managed his workload by giving him a day off following two consecutive starts. He'll start Tuesday's game in Philadelphia but is likely to rest in Wednesday's series finale.
