O'Hoppe is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Mets.

O'Hoppe will sit out Wednesday's matinee after starting at catcher in each of the previous three games. Travis d'Arnaud will be behind the dish and bat seventh in O'Hoppe's stead.

Moncada is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Mets.

The switch-hitting Moncada is on the bench for the Angels' third straight matchup with a lefty starter (Sean Manaea), so he might be in the strong side of a platoon. Chris Taylor will handle third base and bat ninth as the Angels try to avoid the sweep.

Martinez went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Orioles.

The 23-year-old switch hitter has been on fire since the All-Star break, hitting safely in all five games since play resumed and batting .458 (11-for-24) with four doubles, a homer, four RBI and six runs. With Lane Thomas (foot) making slow progress in his recovery from his latest bout of plantar fasciitis, Martinez could be set for a long stint as Cleveland's primary center fielder.

Ramirez went 1-for-2 with three walks, a solo home run and a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Orioles.

The star third baseman took Brandon Young deep in the first inning, and Baltimore pitchers wanted little to do with him after that. Ramirez has been carrying the Guardians' offense since early July, slashing .283/.426/.811 over his last 15 games with eight of his 21 homers and nine of his 30 steals on the season, while adding 18 runs and 18 RBI.

Simpson went 1-for-3 with a walk and three steals in Tuesday's win over the White Sox.

Simpson ran wild Tuesday night with his second three-steal game this season and his fifth contest with multiple steals. His fifth-inning steal gave him the most stolen bases as a rookie in franchise history in just 58 games played. Simpson is now up to 30 steals and has maintained a high average at the dish, hitting .301 with 15 RBI, 26 runs and an 11:20 BB:K in 220 plate appearances.

Clase gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his 22nd save of the season in a 6-3 win over the Orioles.

The Cleveland closer breezed through the bottom of Baltimore's order on 13 pitches (nine strikes). Clase has been tagged for an earned run only once in his last 14 appearances, posting a 0.59 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB over 15.1 innings during that stretch while converting eight of nine save chances.

Cantillo (2-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's 6-3 victory over the Orioles, allowing one run on two hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out five.

The 25-year-old southpaw tossed only 57 of 95 pitches for strikes, but 35 called or swinging strikes and a couple double plays behind him kept the damage to a minimum. Cantillo's stint in the rotation may not last much longer with Shane Bieber (elbow) getting closer to his season debut, but Cantillo has held his own so far, posting a 4.08 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 23:10 K:BB in 17.2 innings over four July starts. His next outing lines up to come on the road this weekend in Kansas City.

Fairbanks pitched a clean ninth to lock up his 17th save in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the White Sox.

Fairbanks made quick work of the White Sox, needing 12 pitches to get through the ninth. He's now converted consecutive save chances out of the All-Star break and is on pace to set a new career high in saves after recording 25 in 2023. Fairbanks owns a 2.84 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 32:15 K:BB in 38 innings so far this season.

Rasmussen allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out five in four innings Tuesday against the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.

Rasmussen went nine up and nine down to open the game but ran into some trouble in the fourth. He allowed a double, two singles and a walk before a sacrifice fly plated a second run in the inning for the White Sox. Rasmussen exited after tossing 75 pitches, his most in an outing since he threw 92 on June 19. The team reported before the All-Star break that Rasmussen was expected to handle a typical starter's workload when making his next turn through the rotation, but it seems manager Kevin Cash is still being somewhat cautious with Rasmussen's pitch count. The right-hander lines up to toe the rubber again next week on the road versus the Yankees.

Detroit placed Skubal on the paternity list Wednesday, but he's expected to be activated in time to make his next start Saturday versus the Blue Jays at Comerica Park, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Skubal will likely spend the maximum three days away from the team while he and his wife welcome their second child before he returns to action Saturday to start on five days' rest. By temporarily deactivating Skubal, the Tigers were able to open up a spot on the 26-man active roster for right-hander Troy Melton, who was called up from Triple-A Toledo to start Wednesday in Pittsburgh in what will be his MLB debut.
