Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that Diaz (groin) is day-to-day, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz had to be lifted from Thursday's game in Baltimore in the fifth inning with right groin tightness. While the injury is considered minor, it's possible Diaz is held out of action this weekend in Toronto as a precaution.

Povich allowed five runs on 10 hits and two walks over 5.2 innings in a no-decision Thursday against the Rays. He struck out four.

It was another disappointing outing for Povich, who's failed to make it out of the sixth inning in any of his last seven starts -- he's gone 1-2 with a 5.75 ERA in that span (36 innings). The 25-year-old Povich will likely finish the campaign at 3-8 with a 5.21 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 118 strikeouts across 112.1 innings.

Rasmussen didn't factor into the decision Thursday against Baltimore, allowing two hits and two walks across 2.1 scoreless innings. He stuck out three.

Making his final start of the season, Rasmussen was pulled after recording one out in the third inning, putting him exactly at his 150-inning limit for the season. While Rasmussen failed to make it past five innings in any of his final five outings, the right-hander had a strong campaign overall, posting a 2.76 ERA with a 1.02 WHIP and 127 strikeouts across 31 starts.

Baez (neck) will start at shortstop and bat ninth Thursday against the Guardians.

Baez sat out the Tigers' last two games while dealing with neck stiffness, but he'll return in time to start a pivotal contest against Cleveland in the race for the AL Central title. The 32-year-old has been struggling offensively since the beginning of the month, going just 3-for-27 (.111) and posting a .323 OPS over 12 games.

Baldwin is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Yankees.

Baldwin started the first two games of the series and had made three straight starts overall, but he'll begin Thursday's festivities on the bench. Derek Hill will patrol center field and Michael Taylor will be in right field for the White Sox.

Sosa is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Yankees.

It appears to be a routine day off for Sosa, who had started each of the last four contests. Miguel Vargas will play first base and Curtis Mead will be at third base for the White Sox in the series finale.

Abreu isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game versus Toronto, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Abreu will get a breather Thursday after going 2-for-11 with a run scored and four strikeouts since returning from the injured list Sunday. Rob Refsnyder will fill the void in right field and bat eighth.

Kirk will receive a day of rest after starting at catcher in the first two games of the series. Tyler Heineman will be behind the dish and bat ninth as the Blue Jays try to avoid the sweep.

The Orioles claimed Ragsdale off waivers from Atlanta on Thursday and optioned him to the Florida Complex League, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

In the span of 10 days, Ragsdale has been DFA'd by Baltimore, claimed by Atlanta, DFA'd by Atlanta without making an appearance and now back in Baltimore. He'll report to the Orioles' facility in Florida now that the minor-league season has wrapped up and take the place of Dom Hamel on the 40-man roster.
