  • Reid Detmers SP | LAA

Angels' Reid Detmers: Takes no-decision Sunday

Detmers allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings in a no-decision Sunday versus the Royals.

Detmers has been serviceable in his return to the rotation this year after functioning as a reliever in 2025. That said, he has rarely been all that impressive, allowing at least three runs in four of his six starts. He's at a 4.28 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 36:9 K:BB through 33.2 innings. The Angels don't have a lot of rotation depth, so average or slightly better will likely be enough for Detmers to stay in a starting role. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Mets.

  • Royals' Isaac Collins: Blasts second homer

Collins went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Sunday's 11-9 extra-inning win over the Angels.

Collins has gone 6-for-19 (.316) with four RBI and four walks over his last five games. The outfielder was part of the Royals' comeback effort Sunday, delivering an RBI single in the fifth inning and a solo shot in the seventh. He's hitting a modest .232 with a .679 OPS, two homers, eight RBI, 12 runs scored, one double and no stolen bases on two attempts over 81 plate appearances. Collins is working primarily as the starting left fielder for the Royals this season, though the switch hitter has ceded a little playing time to Lane Thomas against right-handed pitchers.

  • Royals' Jac Caglianone: Ties game with homer

Caglianone went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 11-9 extra-inning win over the Angels.

Caglianone was on the bench to start the contest, but he came in as a pinch hitter for Starling Marte in the eighth inning. Caglianone struck out in that at-bat, but he came through an inning later with a game-tying homer when the Royals were down to their last out. He's hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, going 11-for-36 (.306) with two homers, four RBI and a 4:12 BB:K in that span. For the season, Caglianone is batting .263 with a .769 OPS, two homers, four RBI, 11 runs scored, five doubles, one triple and no stolen bases across 90 plate appearances. He continues to hold down a strong-side platoon role in right field.

  • Lane Thomas CF | KC

Royals' Lane Thomas: Delivers walk-off blast

Thomas went 3-for-6 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 11-9 extra-inning win over the Angels.

The Royals trailed for much of the game, but Jac Caglianone forced an extra inning with his homer in the ninth. The Angels took the lead in the 10th, but Thomas replied with his first homer of the year to walk it off. This was also Thomas' first multi-hit effort of the campaign. The outfielder is batting .226 with a .661 OPS, five RBI, six runs scored, two stolen bases and one double across 64 plate appearances. He has worked as a platoon partner for Kyle Isbel in center field, though Thomas also occasionally challenges Isaac Collins for at-bats against right-handers in left field.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Swats first homer of season

Witt went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a triple in Sunday's 11-9 extra-inning win over the Angels.

Witt decided that one month was long enough, taking Reid Detmers deep in the sixth inning. This was Witt's first homer of the season. He's made up for the lack of power with consistency at the plate, hitting safely in eight straight games, and he's been held hitless just six times in 28 contests overall. The shortstop is batting .294 with a .790 OPS, nine stolen bases, 12 RBI, seven runs scored and nine doubles over 125 plate appearances. He has some catching up to do in the power department -- Witt has hit at least 20 homers in each of his first four years in the majors, but he may need a hot stretch or two to reach that mark in 2026.

  • Seth Lugo SP | KC

Royals' Seth Lugo: Knocked around Sunday

Lugo allowed seven runs on 14 hits and a walk while striking out three over 6.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Sunday.

Lugo really didn't have his best stuff, but he was left in the game longer than most starters would be with those kinds of numbers being put up against him. He ultimately threw 72 of 97 pitches for strikes but was simply too hittable in this outing, though the Royals were able to provide some surprises late in the game to get him off the hook. Chalk this up as just an off performance for Lugo, who hadn't allowed more than two runs in any of his first five starts of the campaign. He's at a 2.63 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB through 37.2 innings over six starts this season. Lugo's chance at a bounce-back effort is projected to be on the road against the Mariners.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Patrick Corbin: Goes 4.2 innings Sunday

Corbin did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Guardians, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

Corbin was solid early, holding Cleveland scoreless through four innings, but he ran into trouble in the fifth, when he allowed four hits before he was pulled with two outs in the frame. Since stepping into Toronto's injury-plagued rotation, Corbin has posted a 3.72 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB across four outings (19.1 innings). He's tentatively lined up to face the Twins on the road in his next start.

  • Blue Jays' Yohendrick Pinango: Singles in debut

Pinango went 1-for-2 in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Guardians.

After flying out in his first at-bat, Pinango laced a two-out single off Slade Cecconi in the fourth inning for his first big-league hit. Myles Straw would later pinch hit for PInango in the sixth inning against lefty Tim Herrin. The 23-year-old Pinango got off to a nice start with Triple-A Buffalo this year, slashing .288/.370/.488 with three homers in his first 22 games. He should see regular at-bats against right-handed pitching while Addison Barger (ankle) and Nathan Lukes (hamstring) are sidelined.

  • J.T. Ginn P | ATH

Athletics' J.T. Ginn: Injury-shortened start Sunday

Ginn left Sunday's start against the Rangers in the fourth inning with right shoulder soreness, Dave Sessions of MLB.com reports.

Ginn cruised through three scoreless frames before hitting Evan Carter with a pitch with one out in the bottom of the fourth. The right-handed pitcher then appeared to be favoring his right side after delivering a 94.1 mph sinker to Jake Burger at the plate, and he was ultimately forced to exit the contest as a result. Manager Mark Kotsay explained following the team's 2-1 victory that Ginn was dealing with "some form of a stinger in the shoulder area" and that the team wasn't going to "risk anything further." The club is expected to re-evaluate Ginn on Monday.

  • Slade Cecconi SP | CLE

Guardians' Slade Cecconi: Falls to Toronto

Cecconi (0-4) took the loss Sunday against the Blue Jays, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

Cecconi's start was better than his final line would indicate. After giving up two runs in the first inning, the righty held Toronto off the board until Jesus Sanchez's two-run homer in the sixth. Still, it's the fourth loss through six starts this season for Cecconi, whose ERA sits at an ugly 6.23 with a 1.52 WHIP and 25:13 K:BB across 30.1 innings. He's also given up at least one home run in four of his six starts. He'll look to turn things around his next time out, currently scheduled to come next week on the road against the A's.
