Scherzer (2-1) picked up the win in Saturday's 4-2 victory over the Royals, allowing one run on five hits over six innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.

The 41-year-old right-hander produced his third quality start in his last four trips to the mound on 84 pitches (57 strikes), and Scherzer was shutting out Kansas City until Salvador Perez took him deep in the sixth inning. Scherzer continues to have trouble keeping the ball in the yard -- he's served up nine homers in 41 innings on the season -- but he's doing a better job of late of keeping the bases empty for them, posting a 4.13 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 28:2 K:BB in 24 innings over that four-start stretch. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend against the Dodgers.

Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a second run scored in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Twins.

Ramirez tied the game at 4-4 with a two-run blast in the fifth inning, and he also scored the go-ahead run in the eighth on a Bo Naylor double. This was Ramirez's third multi-hit effort in his last four games, though the homer was his first since July 22. The third baseman batted .265 over 26 games in July -- while that's a fine number, it was lower than what he managed in both May and June. He's added plenty of category coverage in 2025, slashing .300/.375/.526 for the year with 22 homers, 59 RBI, 70 runs scored and 32 stolen bases over 107 contests. Ramirez posted his second 30-30 campaign in 2024 and could repeat the feat if his power stays strong over the final two months of this campaign.

Perez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

The veteran catcher took Max Scherzer deep in the sixth inning, giving Perez his fifth straight 20-homer campaign and the ninth of his Hall of Fame career. The 35-year-old has been getting plenty of work at first base and DH this season to preserve his legs, but with Freddy Fermin now a Padre, Perez might need to be behind the plate more often over the final two months unless the Royals decide top prospect Carter Jensen, who has eight homers in his first 24 Triple-A games, is ready for his big-league debut.

Gaddis allowed a hit and struck out three in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Twins.

Cade Smith had a 23-pitch outing Friday, so Gaddis got the save opportunity in this contest. He did well, throwing 10 of 15 pitches for strikes to convert his first save of 2025. Primarily a setup man in the first half, Gaddis now has a chance to be part of a closing committee after Emmanuel Clase was placed on non-disciplinary paid leave as part of MLB's sports betting investigation. Gaddis has taken a step back this season, posting a 3.30 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 54:16 K:BB with 22 holds and three blown saves over 46.1 innings, but he's still been good enough to maintain high-leverage usage throughout 2025.

Garcia was pulled from Saturday's contest against Seattle due to left scapula spasms, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Garcia entered in the 10th inning with a chance for a save, as Texas led 4-2. He quickly blew the opportunity, serving up a two-run homer to Randy Arozarena on his third pitch. Garcia then retired the next two batters before allowing a Josh Naylor single. He began the next at-bat with two straight balls to Eugenio Suarez and was subsequently visited by a trainer, which led to Garcia's exit from the game after 17 total pitches (only eight of which were strikes). Garcia's initial diagnosis doesn't sound grave, but it wouldn't be surprising if he were to be held out of action for at least a short period, especially since he was pitching Saturday for the third time in four days. Should Garcia need to sit out, Shawn Armstrong or the just-acquired Phil Maton could be the lead candidates for save chances.

Cameron (5-5) took the loss Saturday, giving up four runs on six hits and a walk over 6.1 innings as the Royals fell 4-2 to the Blue Jays. He struck out one.

The rookie southpaw only gave up six singles on the afternoon, but three of them were packed into the third inning along with a walk and a hit by pitch, leading to three Toronto runs. Cameron has been up and down over the last month-plus, blanking the opposition in three of his seven starts but also getting tagged for four or more runs in three of them while posting a 3.40 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 38:9 K:BB over 39.2 innings during that stretch. He'll look to bounce back in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Minnesota.

Bibee allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings in a no-decision Saturday versus the Twins.

Bibee has given up 13 runs (11 earned) over his last three starts, posting a 17:2 K:BB across 16.2 innings in that span. He started well Saturday, but a two-run home run by Matt Wallner in the fourth inning and another rally by the Twins in the fifth ended Bibee's outing early. He threw 64 of 93 pitches for strikes while seeing his three-start winning streak come to a close, and he's now at a 4.51 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 112:35 K:BB through 125.2 innings over 22 starts this season. The right-hander's next start is projected to be a favorable road matchup versus the White Sox.

Henderson went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

The 24-year-old capped a four-run rally by the Orioles in the eighth inning by taking Caleb Thielbar deep, Henderson's 13th homer of the year. It's his sixth multi-hit performance in 16 games since the All-Star break, a stretch in which he's batting .316 (18-for-57) with six doubles, a triple, two home runs, four steals, 14 runs and 15 RBI.

Akin walked two and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his first save of the season in a 4-3 win over the Cubs.

With Felix Bautista (shoulder) on the IL and the O's having shipped out their other established high-leverage arms at the trade deadline, the closer job is wide open. Corbin Martin got the save Tuesday but worked the sixth inning Saturday with Baltimore in a 3-0 hole, while Yennier Cano handled the eighth and Akin got the ninth with lefties Michael Busch and Kyle Tucker due up for the Cubs. Interim manager Tony Mansolino may elect to play matchups and go with a closer committee unless someone emerges from the pack, but Akin's fantasy appeal will grow even if he gets only a share of the save chances.

Trout (illness) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Trout will miss a second consecutive game Saturday due to his illness and will aim to return to the starting nine for Sunday's series finale. While he recovers, Gustavo Campero will serve as the Angels' designated hitter, putting Jo Adell in right field and the newly promoted Bryce Teodosio in center.
