The Yankees placed Slater on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a left hamstring strain.

Slater suffered the injury during Monday's game against the Rangers, which was just his third appearance with the Yankees after being acquired from the Reds last week. New York reinstated Aaron Judge (elbow) from the injured list in a corresponding move.

The Yankees recalled De Los Santos from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

De Los Santos has collected a 1.78 ERA over 25.1 relief innings this season, though that's come with just a 20:12 K:BB. He will operate in middle relief.

The Yankees activated Leiter (leg) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Leiter is recovered from the left fibular head stress fracture that sent him to the injured list in early July, and he's back with the Yankees after delivering a scoreless frame in his lone rehab appearance. The right-hander has a 4.46 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 46:12 K:BB across 34.1 innings and should return to a middle-relief role for New York.

The Yankees activated Judge (elbow) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Judge missed only the minimum 10 days while battling a right flexor strain. While he is able to hit, Judge has not yet resumed throwing, so he will be limited to designated-hitter duty indefinitely. It will result in a playing time hit for Giancarlo Stanton, although Stanton is expected to see some action in the outfield.

Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and three total runs scored in an extra-inning loss to the Rangers on Monday.

Goldschmidt led off the game with a 419-foot blast to left field. The long ball was his first since June 19 -- a span of 31 games. Goldschmidt batted just .212 with only six RBI during the long power drought, but he's continued to hold down a near-everyday role at first base of late, starting seven of the Yankees' past eight games.

Stanton went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and two walks in Monday's extra-inning loss to Texas.

Stanton's long ball was a 427-foot laser to center field in the fourth inning. The slugger has done his best to prop up New York's offense in the absence of Aaron Judge (elbow) -- since Judge last played July 25, Stanton has four homers and 10 RBI in nine games. He's also struck out 16 times during that span, but as long as he continues to mash, he should be an everyday presence in both the Yankees' and fantasy managers' lineups.

The Yankees are expected to designate Brubaker for assignment Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Brubaker has managed a 3.38 ERA in 12 relief appearances for the Yankees, but it's come with an uninspiring 10:9 K:BB over 16 frames. The 31-year-old didn't pitch in the majors in 2023 or 2024 while recovering from multiple injuries, including Tommy John surgery. Brubaker will likely pass through waivers unclaimed.

The Yankees are expected to reinstate Leiter (fibula) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

New York has already cleared a spot on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen by optioning right-hander Jake Bird to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but Leiter's activation isn't expected to be made official until a few hours prior to Tuesday's game against the Rangers. After landing on the IL on July 8 due to a left fibular head stress fracture, Leiter made rapid progress in his recovery and made a rehab appearance for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, tossing a scoreless inning. He'll likely work in middle relief for the Yankees.

The Yankees optioned Bird to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

Bird has yielded seven runs (six earned) over two innings in three appearances since being acquired by the Yankees at the trade deadline. He'll likely get another opportunity later this season, but Bird's struggles date back to mid-June, so he'll try to iron out his issues in the minors.

The Astros announced Monday that Rodgers (concussion/nose) has resumed light jogging and throwing, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Rodgers remains in concussion protocol after he was involved in an on-field collision during a rehab game with Triple-A Sugar Land on July 18, but he appears to have taken some steps forward in his recovery from the head injury. The veteran infielder, who also suffered a nasal fracture in the collision, is without a timeline to return from the 60-day injured list. If Rodgers make it back on the field this season, he likely won't be in line for everyday playing time with Houston.
