Justin Verlander SP | DET
Tigers' Justin Verlander: Sim game on tap
Verlander (hip) is slated to throw a simulated game in Houston on Monday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
While Verlander's rehab assignment looks to be over after he built up to 5.2 innings and 86 pitches in his second start with Triple-A Toledo last Wednesday, the Tigers aren't yet ready to make room for him in the big-league rotation. The veteran righty will thus remain on the 60-day injured list for the time being, but he'll continue to stick on a five-day pitching schedule by throwing a sim game Monday. The Tigers will decide Verlander's next step following the sim game, and it's possible that he'll return from the IL and move back into the rotation during next weekend's series versus the White Sox.

Jose Soriano SP | LAA
Angels' Jose Soriano: Battles tight chest, sore leg
Soriano said after Saturday's 8-0 win over the Rays that he experienced chest tightness and sore legs during his start, Jack Janes of TheSportingTribune reports.
After turning in a 5.28 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over his previous eight starts, Soriano was much sharper Saturday, striking out five while scattering three hits and two walks over five scoreless frames. He tossed just 76 pitches, however, with the Angels electing to cut his start short on account of the pair of injuries, which stemmed from him getting hit on the right side of the chest by a 98-mph line drive off the bat of Jonathan Aranda in the first inning. Though he was initially able to stay in the game, Soriano noted that his chest became tight between innings, and his legs became more sore as he attempted to put less stress on his chest while pitching. Manager Kurt Suzuki suggested that Soriano's removal was precautionary, so at this stage, the right-hander is expected to be ready to go for his next turn through the rotation Thursday versus the Athletics in Sacramento.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Dealing with concussion symptoms
Seager (ribs/jaw) is dealing with concussion symptoms, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Seager is set to be sidelined for a third consecutive game Sunday night against the Red Sox as he continues to recover from his collison with Carter Jensen at home plate Thursday. Manager Skip Schumaker outlined that the shortstop is experiencing "mild" concussion symptoms, so it's unclear how close he is to returning to the lineup. Ezequiel Duran is drawing the start at shortstop and batting fourth in Sunday night's series finale in Boston.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Racks up three more hits
Buxton went 3-for-5 with a double and one RBI in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Cardinals.
Buxton is hitting .357 (15-for-42) with five home runs, eight RBI and three doubles over 11 contests in June. The outfielder has logged multiple hits in four of his last five games to fuel the surge. On the year, he's up to a .276 batting average, a .936 OPS, 22 homers, 35 RBI, 47 runs scored, 13 doubles, one triple and six stolen bases. As always, staying healthy is the biggest factor for Buxton, who can offer five-category upside when he does. He has dealt with some injury concerns this year, but nothing that's been bad enough to require a stint on the injured list yet.

Victor Caratini C | MIN
Twins' Victor Caratini: Clubs homer in win
Caratini went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Cardinals.
Caratini got the Twins on the board with a fourth-inning homer off Michael McGreevy. This was Caratini's second long ball in June, surpassing the number he had in all of May. The catcher is now hitting .215 with a .630 OPS, four homers, 25 RBI, 11 runs scored and five doubles over 53 contests this season. He'll continue to see a decent share of playing time at catcher while Ryan Jeffers (hand) is out.

Yoendrys Gomez RP | MIN
Twins' Yoendrys Gomez: Converts sixth save
Gomez struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Cardinals.
Gomez has earned six saves on the year, three of which have come in June. He's allowed two runs over six innings this month with a 7:3 K:BB. Gomez has a 4.01 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 33:17 K:BB over 33.2 innings between the Twins and the Rays. Most of his high-leverage work (five saves and five holds) has come with Minnesota after he was traded in early May. The Twins' bullpen has been volatile this season, but Gomez should continue to get at least a share of ninth-inning duties as long as he avoids disasters, which he has done well with a 1.65 ERA over 16.1 innings for the Twins.

Taj Bradley SP | MIN
Twins' Taj Bradley: Pitches into seventh inning
Bradley allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven over 6.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on Sunday.
Bradley rebounded fairly well after three straight starts in which he failed to complete five frames. He still gave up four runs, with a pair of homers accounting for three of those runs on his line Sunday. Bradley has taken a step back after starting the season in great form, but this effort could help him turn things around a bit. He's at a 4.14 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 80:30 K:BB over 71.2 innings across 13 starts this season. His next start is tentatively scheduled to be on the road in Arizona.

Grayson Rodriguez SP | LAA
Angels' Grayson Rodriguez: Dealing with back issue
Rodriguez exited Sunday's contest against Tampa Bay in the third frame due to lower-back tightness, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Rodriguez appeared to be dealing with a great level of discomfort after plunking Cedric Mullins with a changeup with one out in the top of the third, and it is now understood to be the result of back tightness. He finished his day having tossed 2.1 innings, allowing two runs, both of which scored after his departure, on three hits and two walks while striking out one. The 26-year-old was making his sixth start of the season, and it's unclear if his next projected outing against the Athletics on Thursday is in danger.

Masataka Yoshida DH | BOS
Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Back in lineup as leadoff man
Yoshida will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Sunday's game against the Rangers.
After being left out of the lineup for the first two contests of the series even with the Rangers sending a pair of right-handers to the hill, Yoshida will make his return to the starting nine as Boston's table setter. Mickey Gasper filled those duties the previous two games, but he'll head to the bench Sunday while he manages a tight groin. If Gasper's groin issue is only a short-term concern, Yoshida might have to settle for a part-time role while he's running cold at the plate. Since the start of June, Yoshida has gone 2-for-18 with a 1:6 BB:K in five games.

Orlando Arcia SS | MIN
Twins' Orlando Arcia: Pushed off 40-man roster
The Twins designated Arcia for assignment following Sunday's 5-4 win over the Cardinals, Audra Martin of Twins.tv reports.
Arcia had his contract selected from Triple-A St. Paul on May 19 and produced a .271/.300/.354 slash line with one home run, two RBI and six runs in 19 contests with Minnesota. Minnesota will call up outfielder Kyler Fedko from Triple-A St. Paul to replace Arcia on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster.
