Orioles' Tyler O'Neill: Exits with wrist injury

O'Neill was removed from Tuesday's game against the Phillies with right wrist discomfort, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

O'Neill went 0-for-2 during Tuesday's game before his wrist forced him to exit during the sixth inning. The Orioles will likely provide more details on the severity of his injury once they get a closer look at him, but he can be considered day-to-day for the time being.

  • Shane Bieber SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Shane Bieber: Two more rehab starts coming

Bieber (elbow) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, and Blue Jays manager John Schneider indicated that the right-hander will likely make one more start after that before being activated from the 60-day injured list, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Bieber threw 62 pitches this past Sunday for Buffalo in his first rehab outing for his new organization after being acquired from the Guardians at the trade deadline, and making two more rehab starts would allow him to get fully stretched out before taking a big-league mound for the first time since April 2024. That schedule would put Bieber in line to make his Jays debut on the road, either in Pittsburgh for a series that runs Aug. 18 through 20, or more likely, to begin a series in Miami on Aug. 22. It's not yet clear whether Toronto will consider using a six-man rotation at that point or bump someone like Eric Lauer to the bullpen, despite the southpaw's 2.83 ERA and 55:9 K:BB in 54 innings over his last 10 starts.

  • Rays' Chandler Simpson: Good to go Tuesday

Simpson (finger) is starting in left field and batting leadoff Tuesday against the Angels.

The rookie outfielder hasn't seen the field since Thursday due to a sprained left index finger, but he's back atop the lineup Tuesday for Tampa Bay. Since being called back up by the Rays in late May, Simpson has a .311/.351/.368 slash line with four doubles, a triple, no homers, 13 steals, four RBI and 13 runs in 30 games.

  • Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL

Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Not starting Tuesday

Kim isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

After going 3-for-14 with two walks in four games since his return from the injured list, Kim will grab a seat on the bench Tuesday while Taylor Walls starts at shortstop.

  • Bryce Miller SP | SEA

Mariners' Bryce Miller: Next rehab start coming Thursday

Miller (elbow) is scheduled to throw about 65 pitches during his second rehab outing Thursday with Triple-A Tacoma, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander threw 52 pitches over four scoreless innings during his first rehab start last week, and he'll continue building up his workload Thursday. If all goes well in that outing with the Rainiers, Miller could be cleared to rejoin Seattle's rotation for his first MLB start since early June.

  • Victor Robles RF | SEA

Mariners' Victor Robles: Set for rehab assignment

Robles (shoulder) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Aug. 12, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Robles, who has been out since early April, is ready to make the next big step towards a return to action. Starting the rehab assignment Aug. 12 may place the outfielder ahead of schedule, but the Mariners are targeting 40-to-50 at-bats before he is activated off the injured list. The 28-year-old will likely get a mix of playing time in the outfield and as a designated hitter as he returns to game action in Triple-A Tacoma.

  • Luke Raley RF | SEA

Mariners' Luke Raley: Back to hitting

Raley (back) will begin a hitting progression Tuesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Back spasms have kept Raley out of action since July 25, though he wasn't officially placed on the IL until July 30. Assuming his return to hitting goes smoothly, the plan is for him to begin a rehab assignment in the minors over the weekend before returning sometime next week.

  • Chase Meidroth 2B | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Out again Tuesday

Meidroth (thumb) isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Seattle.

Despite entering Sunday's contest as a defensive replacement, Meidroth seemingly still isn't quite ready to return to the starting nine after taking a pitch off his thumb last week. Josh Rojas will pick up another start at second base as a result while Brooks Baldwin covers third.

  • Astros' Cristian Javier: Making rehab start Tuesday

Manager Joe Espada said Javier (elbow) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Javier threw 64 pitches over 3.1 innings during his fourth rehab outing July 31, and he'll continue building up his workload with Sugar Land. The right-hander has been on the shelf all season while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, but he could be cleared for his 2025 MLB debut with a strong showing Tuesday.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Getting breather Tuesday

Wells isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

Wells will take a seat Tuesday after going 1-for-5 with a run scored during Monday's series opener. Ben Rice will catch instead for starter Will Warren and bat second.
