Luis Robert CF | NYM
White Sox's Luis Robert: Taking Sunday off
Robert is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.
In what appears to be a rest day, Robert will hit the bench for the first time since July 26, breaking a streak of 18 consecutive starts. Brooks Baldwin will spell Robert in center field and bat ninth.

Cody Bellinger LF | NYY
Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Rejoining lineup Sunday
Bellinger (illness) is starting in right field and batting cleanup Sunday against the Cardinals.
Bellinger was held out of Saturday's lineup due to an illness but is ready to go for the series finale in St. Louis. The 30-year-old has yet to get on track at the plate through 13 games in August with a .140/.218/.260 slash line and two homers in 50 at-bats.

Gabriel Arias 3B | CLE
Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Receiving afternoon off
Arias is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
Arias will get a breather after starting 16 straight contests and slashing .214/.258/.375 with two home runs, two stolen bases, 13 RBI and five runs. Brayan Rocchio will slide over from his usual spot at second base to cover shortstop.

Carlos Santana 1B | ATL
Guardians' Carlos Santana: Sitting again Sunday
Santana is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
Santana went 1-for-5 with a pair of walks while starting the first two contests of the series, but he'll retreat to the bench for the series finale. The 39-year-old looks to be fading into a part-time role, as he's now been out of the lineup five times in the Guardians' last eight games.

Joey Cantillo SP | CLE
Guardians' Joey Cantillo: Demoted to Triple-A
The Guardians optioned Cantillo to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.
Tim Herrin was promoted to replace Cantillo on the active roster, but the Guardians will likely wait until next week before announcing a new fifth starter. Cantillo owns a respectable 3.93 ERA over 66.1 innings in the majors this season, but he had issued at least four walks in three of his five starts since the All-Star break. The young lefty may need to iron out his control issues at Triple-A before he gets another look in the big-league rotation.

Tim Herrin RP | CLE
Guardians' Tim Herrin: Summoned from Triple-A
The Guardians recalled Herrin from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.
The addition of Herrin gives Cleveland a third left-handed option in the bullpen along with Erik Sabrowski and Kolby Allard. Over 39 appearances with the big club this season, Herrin owns a 4.06 ERA and 1.55 WHIP and has collected four wins and 11 holds in 31 innings.

Ty France 1B | SD
Blue Jays' Ty France: Losing out on playing time
France is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
On the bench for the fourth time in five games, France appears to have settled into a part-time role following George Springer's return from the 7-day injured list. Expect most of France's playing time to come against left-handed pitching with the Blue Jays roster at full strength.

Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU
Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Cleared for rehab assignment
Alvarez (hand) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Corpus Christi, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Alvarez took eight at-bats in live batting practice Saturday at the Astros' spring training complex in Florida without issue, and Houston was comfortable clearing him for his game action since he landed on the injured list May 5. Manager Joe Espada said that Alvarez will serve as Corpus Christi's designated hitter Tuesday, and the 28-year-old will likely need multiple games in the minors to regain his timing at the plate before being activated from the 60-day IL. Jose Altuve has been seeing most of the starts at DH for the Astros of late, but he would likely shift back to second base once Alvarez is ready to return.

Sam Haggerty LF | TEX
Rangers' Sam Haggerty: Shut down with ankle injury
The Rangers placed Haggerty on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to left ankle inflammation.
Haggerty went 0-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored Saturday before being removed in the bottom of the fifth inning. His move to the IL a day later suggests that he may have tweaked his ankle while running to first base on a groundout in the top of the fifth. Texas recalled infielder Cody Freeman from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday in a corresponding move.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rangers' Jon Gray: Shelved with shoulder issue
The Rangers placed Gray on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right shoulder nerve irritation.
Gray will continue to occupy a spot on the Rangers' 40-man roster upon clearing outright waivers Saturday, after no other team was willing to take on the approximately $3.1 million remaining on his $13 million salary for 2025. The right-hander ended up making a 2.1-inning mop-up appearance in Saturday's 14-2 loss to the Blue Jays and may have been pitching through the shoulder issue during the outing. According to Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com, manager Bruce Bochy said that Gray is dealing with thoracic outlet syndrome, which often necessitates a multi-month absence and is likely to end his season. Texas recalled right-hander Caleb Boushley from Triple-A Round Rock to replace Gray in the bullpen.
