Guardians' Bo Naylor: Carries offense in win

Naylor went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk and three RBI in Sunday's 3-2 victory over the White Sox.

The Cleveland backstop plated all of his team's runs, capped by a 375-foot solo shot off Chicago reliever Brandon Eisert in the seventh. Naylor has found a groove in September, as he's batting .310 (9-for-29) with a homer, four doubles, six runs scored and four RBI this month. Overall, the 25-year-old is now slashing .187/.281/.362 with 12 homers, 42 runs scored and 35 RBI across 377 total plate appearances.

Canzone has hit when he's had the opportunity, going 6-for-18 (.333) over nine games in September. He's often been in a bench role as he competes with Victor Robles and Luke Raley for time in right field. Polanco went 3-for-5 with three doubles and two runs scored in Sunday's 11-2 win over the Angels.

While Polanco didn't knock in any runs himself, he was a key part of the Mariners' offense in this romp. He's hit safely in 12 straight games, going 18-for-43 (.419) with two home runs, 11 doubles and 10 RBI in that span to help get the Mariners' offense on track after a lull earlier in the month. Polanco is up to a .267/.328/.497 slash line with 24 homers, 28 doubles, 72 RBI, 59 runs scored and six stolen bases across 128 games this season.

Raleigh's first-inning homer was his 54th of the season, tying Mickey Mantle's major-league record for the most homers in a season by a switch hitter. Raleigh has clubbed four homers and supplied eight RBI over 13 games in September, batting .280 (14-for-50) in that span. Over that stretch, the 26-year-old righty has converted six saves while producing a 14:0 K:BB in seven innings. Through 67.2 total frames, Smith now sports a 3.06 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 96:19 K:BB.

Kirby had allowed 11 runs (10 earned) over six innings across his first two starts of September. He tied his career high for strikeouts in a game with this dominant performance. While Kirby has largely had mixed results all year, he's had the Angels' number in all three of his starts against them in 2025, allowing just six runs while posting a 37:3 K:BB over 19.2 innings. Overall, he's at a 4.46 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 120:28 K:BB through 115 innings across 21 starts. His next start is projected to be on the road versus Houston.

Miguel Vargas plated the first Chicago run with a double in the fourth before Chase Meidroth added a solo homer in the fifth. Cecconi has now pitched to a 4.39 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 98:30 K:BB across 121 total frames. Gomez conceded both runs on a fourth inning double by Bo Naylor -- the only extra-base hit he allowed. Since entering the White Sox rotation Aug. 12, Gomez has been a solid pitching option, producing a 4.01 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB over 33.2 innings. He finished his day 0-for-2 with a strikeout at the plate, and Moncada can be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's day off prior to beginning a three-game set in Milwaukee on Tuesday.

  • Wilyer Abreu RF | BOS

Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: Closing in on return

Manager Alex Cora said that Abreu (calf) progressed to running the bases Sunday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

The 26-year-old is trending toward returning from the injured list this week, and getting back to running the bases is a significant hurdle to clear. Abreu has been on the shelf nearly a month due to a calf strain, but he may not require a rehab assignment before rejoining the Red Sox.
