  • Brandon Young SP | BAL

Orioles' Brandon Young: Sent to IL with strained hamstring

The Orioles placed Young on the 15-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain.

Young suffered the injury in the sixth inning of Thursday's start versus the Astros while covering first base. The rookie right-hander will be eligible to return Sept. 6, but with Kyle Bradish (elbow) set to join the Orioles' rotation next week, it's uncertain what role Young will be in line for if he does make it back this season.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Absent from lineup

Stanton is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox.

Stanton is slashing an absurd .390/.490/.927 with seven home runs in August, but Aaron Judge (elbow) remains limited to designated hitter duties and the Yankees aren't comfortable playing Stanton in right field every day. Cody Bellinger will be in right field for Friday's contest.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Recalled from Triple-A

The White Sox recalled Lee from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Lee will join the active roster ahead of Friday's game against the Twins. The 27-year-old will be the third catcher on the depth chart behind rookies Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero. Lee has been in the minors since early June. Josh Rojas was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Royals' Jac Caglianone: Hitting well on rehab assignment

Caglianone (hamstring) has gone 14-for-34 with three home runs and a 5:2 K:BB over his first eight rehab contests with Triple-A Omaha.

He's made six starts in right field, as well as one apiece at first base and designated hitter. Caglianone appears ready for activation from the 10-day injured list, but the Royals haven't indicated when exactly that transaction will take place. The rookie has been shelved since late July with a strained left hamstring.

  • Colt Keith 3B | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: Settling in at third base

Keith is adjusting well to playing third base this season and could be the Tigers' long-term solution at the position, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Despite coming up through the minors as a third baseman, Keith spent most of his 2024 rookie season playing second. This year, the Tigers had designs on him playing first, but Spencer Torkelson's resurgence eventually pushed Keith back over to the hot corner. The 24-year-old is reacclimating well defensively, and he's also been producing at the plate, posting a .301/.379/.488 slash line since the start of July. Detroit reportedly pursued Alex Bregman and others this past offseason to slot in at third, but with Keith looking comfortable, he could lock down the starting role for the foreseeable future given his age and offensive upside.

  • Evan Carter CF | TEX

Rangers' Evan Carter: Injury could be season-ending

Manager Bruce Bochy said Friday that further evaluation revealed Carter (wrist) sustained a fracture when he was hit by a pitch Thursday, and he could be out for the remainder of the season, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

While Bochy didn't offer any more specifics, Carter appears to be headed toward a lengthy stint on the injured list and could be out for the remainder of the 2025 campaign. The center fielder had started seven of Texas's last eight games, and a prolonged absence will mean Wyatt Langford slides back over to center, and more playing time in left field for Alejandro Osuna.

  • Twins' Simeon Woods Richardson: Looking at September return

Woods Richardson (illness) appears in line to be activated from the 15-day injured list sometime in September, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Woods Richardson allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and one walk while fanning four batters over 3.1 frames in his second rehab appearance with Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday. He will make at least one more appearance for St. Paul before rejoining the Twins' active roster. Coming back from a procedure to remove a parasite from his digestive tract, Woods Richardson's role upon his activation is unclear. The Twins expect to get Pablo Lopez (shoulder) back before long, Mick Abel is joining the rotation this weekend and Taj Bradley's arrival also appears imminent, so Woods Richardson might pitch in relief.

  • Mick Abel P | MIN

Twins' Mick Abel: Poised to start Saturday

Abel joined the Twins' taxi squad and appears likely to be recalled from Triple-A St. Paul to start Saturday against the White Sox in Chicago, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Picked up from the Phillies at the trade deadline in a deal that sent reliever Jhoan Duran to Philadelphia, Abel has posted a 1.76 ERA and 23:6 K:BB over 15.1 innings in his first three outings with Triple-A St. Paul. The 24-year-old previously made six starts in the majors with the Phillies, collecting a 5.04 ERA and 21:9 K:BB across 25 frames. The Twins hope to get Pablo Lopez (shoulder) and Simeon Woods Richardson (illness) back from the injured list in the next couple of weeks, but Abel could get the chance to stick in the big-league rotation for the rest of the season if he pitches well Saturday.

  • Taj Bradley SP | MIN

Twins' Taj Bradley: Could make team debut this weekend

Bradley could be called up from Triple-A St. Paul to start Sunday's game against the White Sox, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The Twins have yet to name starters for Saturday or Sunday, and it's possible those slots will be filled by Bradley and/or Mick Abel, both of whom Minnesota acquired ahead of the trade deadline. Since his acquisition, Bradley has pitched exclusively at St. Paul, with whom he's posted a 7.53 ERA but an 18:2 K:BB over his 14.1 innings. Before being traded away by Tampa Bay, Bradley submitted a 4.61 ERA and 1.28 WHIP across 111.1 innings.

  • Mick Abel P | MIN

Twins' Mick Abel: Could make start this weekend

The Twins could recall Abel from Triple-A St. Paul to make a start this weekend against the White Sox, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Abel and Taj Bradley are tentatively penciled in to start at Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. However, the Twins have yet to name starting pitchers for those days, so the two right-handers might make their next starts at the big-league level instead. Acquired from the Phillies on July 30, Abel has posted a 1.76 ERA and 23:6 K:BB over 15.1 innings in his first three outings with St. Paul.
