Abreu went 2-for-4 in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Cardinals.

Abreu accounted for two of Boston's five singles on a night when the team couldn't take advantage of St. Louis righty Dustin May, who entered the contest having allowed 13 runs and 17 hits over 7.1 innings. Abreu has been the one constant source of offense for the Red Sox to open the season. He has hits in 11 of 13 games, including multiple hits in seven of them, and is slashing .392/.415/.686 with eight extra-base hits and nine RBI. As manager Alex Cora attempts to shoehorn five viable outfielders into four spots -- Roman Anthony sat Friday -- Abreu's bat may not be part of that rotation.

Baez isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

Baez will get a chance to catch his breath after going 7-for-14 with a homer and three runs scored over his last four games. Kevin McGonigle will start at shortstop while Baez sits, and Matt Vierling will patrol center field.

Fisher struck out four over two scoreless innings of relief in Friday's win over the Twins. He didn't allow a hit or walk but did hit a batter with a pitch.

It was effectively mop-up duty, as Fisher worked the final two frames of a 10-4 victory, but it continued an impressive stretch for the 25-year-old righty to begin the season. Through six appearances and 8.1 innings, Fisher boasts a 0.00 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 10:1 K:BB with two holds, but he remains behind Jeff Hoffman, Tyler Rogers and Louis Varland in the pecking order for high-leverage work from the right side.

Torres isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

Torres will sit down for the first time this season after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Friday's series opener. Zach McKinstry starts at second base, batting eighth.

Perkins (1-0) earned the win Friday against the Mets after tossing 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. He allowed three hits while striking out three.

This was Perkins's first appearance of the season at the big-league level after he was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday. Perkins did a good job of finding the plate, as he tossed 22 of his 30 pitches for strikes. He should remain part of the A's bullpen, but he won't have a lot of fantasy appeal as long as he stays out of a high-leverage role.

Freeman (back) has resumed baseball activities, Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Freeman missed most of spring training due to a stress reaction in his lower back. He could return to competitive baseball in late April or early May.

Ginn didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Mets. He tossed four scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out four.

Ginn had allowed four runs with a 4:2 K:BB over seven innings out of the bullpen this season before making this start, and he looked poised, tossing 44 of his 68 pitches for strikes and limiting the damage to just two baserunners. It remains to be seen if Ginn will remain in the rotation, but if he does, his next start would likely come against the Rangers at home next week.

Bradford (elbow) was scheduled to pitch for Double-A Frisco on Wednesday, but the Rangers opted to give him additional recovery time, Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Bradford made an initial rehab start April 2, but the left-hander apparently hadn't recovered quick enough by Wednesday. "We'll make sure he feels 100% recovered before he makes his next outing," Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said. "It's just normal soreness. It's part of your buildup, it's part of rehab." The organization does not want him to push through the soreness. Bradford is in the final stages of his recovery from an internal brace procedure.

Clarke went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a strikeout in Friday's win over the Mets.

Clarke snapped a three-game hitless skid with a single in the bottom of the ninth, and that allowed him to drive in runs for the first time in his last five games. Still, this has been a disappointing start to the season for the outfielder. Over 12 games and 33 plate appearances, Clarke is hitting just .161 with a .373 OPS.

The Twins recalled Morris from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, Audra Martin of FanDuel Sports Network North reports.

Cody Laweryson (forearm) is set to spend at least the next couple of weeks on the injured list, so Morris will come up from Triple-A to fill the open roster spot. The 24-year-old righty has worked almost exclusively as a starter throughout his minor-league career but figures to act as a multi-inning reliever while with the Twins. He'll be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.
