White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Racks up four hits in win

Meidroth went 4-for-5 with a double in Thursday's 11-8 win over the Twins.

Meidroth missed time earlier in the week due to an ankle issue. He was hurt Monday and sat out Tuesday before returning Wednesday. The infielder has gone 18-for-62 (.290) over 17 games since returning from a thumb injury in mid-August. His big performance Thursday has him up to a .258/.334/.331 slash line with four home runs, 13 stolen bases, 21 RBI and 44 runs scored over 101 contests this season.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Launches homer in win

Montgomery went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI, a walk and three total runs scored in Thursday's 11-8 win over the Twins.

Montgomery is on a power binge again with seven homers over his last 11 games, a span in which he's added 14 RBI. His blast in the ninth inning Thursday gave the White Sox some extra breathing room to take the drama out of the end of the contest. The 23-year-old rookie is up to 17 long balls on the year, and he's added a .227/.288/.547 slash line, 42 RBI, 32 runs scored, five doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over his first 50 games in the majors.

  • Kyle Teel C | CHW

White Sox's Kyle Teel: Massive game in high-scoring win

Teel went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run, an additional RBI, a stolen base and three total runs scored in Thursday's 11-8 win over the Twins.

Teel has seven multi-hit efforts over his last 15 games, going 22-for-55 (.400) with four homers and 14 RBI in that span. On the year, he's up to a .293/.390/.440 slash line with six homers, 27 RBI, 30 runs scored and three stolen bases over his first 60 major-league contests.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Rocked in bulk-relief outing

Cannon allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two over 2.1 innings versus the Twins on Thursday. He did not factor in the decision.

Cannon pitched out of the bullpen, following 1.1 scoreless innings from opener Fraser Ellard. Cannon's struggles mostly came in the fourth inning, but the White Sox were ultimately able to persevere and went on to win 11-8. The right-hander's 2025 had some promising moments in the first half, but he's now allowed 25 runs (24 earned) over 21.1 innings across his last five appearances. Overall, Cannon has a 4.22 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 78:37 K:BB through 98.1 innings across 20 appearances (17 starts).

  • Paul Sewald RP | ARI

Tigers' Paul Sewald: Returns to game action

Sewald (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with High-A West Michigan on Thursday, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reports.

Sewald landed on the injured list in mid-July and has been throwing for around a month. Due to his long layoff, he may need to make several rehab appearances before being activated.

  • Jazz Chisholm 2B | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Optimism about injury

Medical testing on Chisholm's knees came back clean after leaving Thursday's game versus the Astros, and he hopes to be in the lineup Friday against the Blue Jays, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.

Chisholm injured both of his knees while in the field Thursday and exited the game in the fourth inning having gone 0-for-2 with a strikeout. It's unclear exactly what testing was done, and the team has not released any additional details since Chisholm was originally diagnosed with contusions.

  • Jesus Sanchez RF | TOR

Astros' Jesus Sanchez: Belts homer in loss

Sanchez went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Yankees.

Sanchez went yard in the seventh inning as a pinch hitter, and he stayed in the game in right field, replacing Cam Smith. Sanchez has gone 14-for-31 (.452) over his last 10 games, adding three homers, three doubles and six RBI in that span, as he continues to fill a strong-side platoon role in the corner outfield. The 27-year-old is slashing .255/.319/.424 with 13 homers, 43 RBI, 53 runs scored, 20 doubles, four triples and nine stolen bases over 114 games between the Astros and the Marlins this season.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Erupts for homer, four hits

Alvarez went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, a second RBI and two total runs scored in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Yankees.

Alvarez has pummeled Yankees pitching over the last two games, going 8-for-10 with three extra-base hits and three RBI in that span. The slugger struggled to find his timing right after being activated from the injured list after a lengthy absence due to a hand injury, but he's bounced back quickly with four multi-hit efforts over his last five games. He's now batting .273 with an .811 OPS, five homers, 25 RBI, 14 runs scored and one stolen base across 158 plate appearances this season.

  • Astros' Cristian Javier: Back to struggles versus Yankees

Javier (1-2) allowed four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.1 innings to take the loss versus the Yankees on Thursday.

Javier threw six no-hit innings versus the Angels in his last start, but he wasn't able to replicate the effort against a tougher opponent. He gave up one run in the second inning and then ran into significant trouble before he was pulled in the fifth. Javier is now at a 4.43 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB through 20.1 innings over five starts since returning from Tommy John surgery, which may explain his shaky control, though he's never been particularly dominant at limiting walks anyway. Javier is lined up for a challenging road start versus the Blue Jays next week.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Yankees' Ryan McMahon: Productive in Thursday's win

McMahon went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two additional RBI and two total runs scored in Thursday's 8-4 win over the Astros.

McMahon logged his second straight multi-hit effort. He had RBI singles in the second and eighth innings, sandwiched around a solo shot in the fifth. He's still batting just .243 since he was traded to the Yankees, logging 10 extra-base hits and 15 RBI over 35 games with the team. Overall, the third baseman has a .223/.321/.400 slash line with 19 homers, 50 RBI, 57 runs scored and two stolen bases across 135 games between the Yankees and the Rockies.
