Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: Breaks out of funk
Berti went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's win over Milwaukee.
After going 0-for-18 with seven strikeouts in his previous four games entering Thursday's contest, Berti returned to form with two base knocks. He showed off his speed as well, with one of his hits being an infield single, after which he swiped second base for his 38th steal of the season. He is batting .179 with one home run and five stolen bases in 84 at-bats in September, but perhaps the multi-hit effort is a sign he will close the season on a high note.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Tigers' Javier Baez: Goes deep Thursday
Baez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in Thursday's 10-3 win over the Royals.
Baez played a big role in the blowout win with his 16th home run of the season leading the way. He's still just over half of the way to the 31 long balls he hit in 2021, as his production has dipped across the board in his first year with the Tigers. Baez is still capable of breaking out in 2023, and he figures to come at a discount in fantasy drafts.

David Fletcher 2B | ATL
Angels' David Fletcher: Activated by Halos
Fletcher (hand) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Fletcher spent just over the minimum of 10 days on the injured list with a bone bruise in his hand, but he resumed swinging recently and has been cleared for game action for the final few days of the regular season. The 28-year-old is starting Thursday against Oakland and should see plenty of playing time for the Angels over the next week.

Miguel Rojas SS | LAD
Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Still out of lineup
Rojas isn't starting Thursday against the Brewers.
Rojas has gone just 2-for-18 with two doubles, a run, an RBI and a strikeout over his last five matchups, and he'll be excluded from the lineup Thursday for a second consecutive game. Joey Wendle is starting at shortstop and batting seventh.
-
Luke Williams 2B | ATL
Marlins' Luke Williams: Sent down Thursday
Williams was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Williams saw minimal playing time for the Marlins in recent weeks, starting just three games since the start of September. He'll lose his spot on the active roster after Joey Wendle (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Joey Wendle 2B | ATL
Marlins' Joey Wendle: Reinstated from injured list
Wendle (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Wendle dealt with left hamstring tendinitis for the last week and a half but has been running for nearly a week and will return to game action after a minimal stay on the 10-day IL. He should reclaim his job as Miami's primary third baseman over the final week of the regular season.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Remains out of lineup
Seager (forearm) isn't starting Thursday against the Mariners.
Seager has been dealing with a bruised left forearm since Tuesday and underwent X-rays that came back negative, but he'll be held out of the lineup for a second consecutive game. Josh Smith will take over at shortstop and bat ninth.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Season likely over
Story (heel) is dealing with an illness and is unlikely to play again this season, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
The Red Sox hoped to get Story back from the heel injury before the season came to a close, but his illness will prevent him from traveling for Boston's upcoming series in Toronto, and he's unlikely to be activated for the three-game set versus Tampa Bay next week. Assuming Story is indeed done for the year, the trio of Christian Arroyo, Enrique Hernandez and Yu Chang will hold down second base the rest of the way.

Josh H. Smith SS | TEX
Rangers' Josh Smith: Starts at shortstop
Smith started at shortstop and went 0-for-2 with a walk and a caught stealing in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Mariners.
Smith started in place of the injured Corey Seager (forearm), who may have avoided serious damage after being plunked by a pitch Tuesday, though it's unclear how much time Seager will miss. With left-hander Marco Gonzales on the bump Thursday for the Mariners, the left-handed hitting Smith may take a seat even if Seager is not ready to return.

C.J. Abrams SS | WAS
Nationals' CJ Abrams: Comes up big Wednesday
Abrams went 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning victory over Atlanta.
Abrams recorded three of Washington's five hits Wednesday, including a walkoff single in the bottom of the 10th inning. The multi-hit effort was his third in his last six games, during which he has driven in two runs, scored five times and stolen three bases. The rookie is slashing .243/.280/.323 through 281 plate appearances this season.
