Owings (finger) will meet with hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan on Friday and could receive clearance to take batting practice thereafter, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo remains optimistic that Owings will be able to come off the 60-day disabled list when first eligible Sept. 29, which would give him three games' worth of at-bats to prove he's healthy enough to warrant a spot on the team's playoff roster. Ketel Marte has been acting as the Diamondbacks' primary shortstop while Owings is out and has probably performed well enough to keep his starting job at the position heading into the postseason, but the versatile Owings could have a more realistic chance at displacing the underwhelming platoon of Daniel Descalso and Brandon Drury for regular duties at the keystone.

DeJong went 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBI against the Reds on Tuesday.

He'd gone into a little skid over the past five games, going 2-for-18 with eight strikeouts, but DeJong has largely avoided lengthy slumps in his rookie season, and he pulled right out of this one. DeJong's 23 homers in 96 games project out to 38 over a full season's work, which is incredible in the middle infield, but it's unlikely that we'll see him maintain batting averages as solid as this year's .285 in the future if he continues striking out at such a high pace (29.1 percent).

Turner went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases in Tuesday's win over the Braves.

Turner swiped his 41st and 42nd base of the season Tuesday, breaking Alfonso Soriano's single-season team stolen base record set back in 2006. Following his strong night at the plate, the speedy shortstop is now hitting .262 during the month of September and holds a .281/.334/.443 line with nine homers, 69 runs and 42 RBI on the season.

Gordon is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Gordon is hitting a healthy .366/.375/.493 with four extra-base hits and seven stolen bases this month, but he'll get the day off after starting the last 14 games. Derek Dietrich will man the keystone in his stead.

Urena is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

Urena hit .316 through his first 10 games with the Blue Jays and started the last 12 games, but he went 0-for-16 over his last four games, so manager John Gibbons decided it was time for a day off. With Urena out, Ryan Goins will slide over to shortstop, and Darwin Barney will get the start at the keystone.

Manager Dave Roberts said Seager won't be able to throw at 100 percent for the rest of the season, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Seager is apparently still dealing with some elbow pain when he throws, though the issue isn't expected to force him to miss any time down the stretch. The Dodgers' medical staff deemed the ailment "playable," and Roberts confirmed the star shortstop will start "the rest of the season" following Monday's day off. It has already been speculated that the 23-year-old may need offseason surgery to address his elbow injury. He'll likely have to play through some pain down the stretch; the good news is that Seager is mostly bothered by the issue when he throws, so his hitting may not be affected.

Arcia is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.

Arcia remains the Brewers' regular shortstop, but he's opened a few more games on the bench of late with manager Craig Counsell looking to get Eric Sogard in the lineup more frequently. Monday marks the third time in six games Sogard has gotten the nod over Arcia.

Rojas (shoulder) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Rojas is out indefinitely after suffering a left shoulder strain while diving for a ball during Sunday's game against the Brewers. Mike Aviles will continue to start at shortstop while Rojas remains sidelined.

Seager is not in the lineup Monday against the Phillies, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.

Seager has started nine straight games since returning from an elbow injury earlier in the month, but he's hit just .216/.286/.351 in 37 at-bats during that span, so he'll get the day off as Enrique Hernandez starts in his place at shortstop.

Wendle went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Phillies.

The 27-year-old's 381-foot shot to right with the bases jammed in the sixth erased a 3-2 deficit and ended up being the difference in the contest. Wendle had only seen five at-bats with the big-league club coming into Sunday's contest, and his timely round tripper was only the second of his brief major-league career. He figures to continue logging occasional starts for the balance of the regular season.
