DeJong went 0-for-4 in the first game but rebounded to go 2-for-4 with two RBI in the second contest of Saturday's doubleheader split with the Cubs.

DeJong put his forgettable first effort behind him to make two vital offensive plays in the second: a sacrifice fly in the first inning and a go-ahead, run-scoring double in the ninth. The infielder has a hit in 10 of his 12 games since returning from the disabled list but has struggled to follow up on his breakout 2017 campaign, slashing just .258/.336/.434 with eight homers and 21 RBI in 223 plate appearances.

Wendle went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a single in a loss to the Marlins on Saturday.

The vet delivered one of the few blemishes on Pablo Lopez's sterling line by charging a fourth-inning fastball over the fence for his fifth big fly of 2018. It was his third home run in July, during which he's rattled off a .400 average in 50 at-bats. The Rays will continue to mix and match playing time among at least two infield spots, but Wendle, who led off in this one, will stay on the card as long as he keeps it going.

Baez was ejected from the second game of Saturday's doubleheader for arguing balls and strikes, Bruce Miles of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.

Baez and manager Joe Maddon were tossed after a checked swing that was called for strike three by umpire Will Little that wasn't appealed . It didn't appear that Baez said anything, but he was ejected after throwing his equipment to the ground. After going 3-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBI in the opening contest, the MVP candidate will end the second game an 0-for-3 and the controversial strikeout.

Baez went 3-for-4 with a steal, a run and a pair of RBI in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Baez has hardly changed his approach, walking just 3.7 percent of the time, but he's having a career year nonetheless. He's setting career highs in all three triple-slash categories (.295/.328/.564). His 19 steals easily surpass his previous high of 12, and he's on pace for 32 homers after previously hitting no more than 23. His 74 RBI lead the National League.

Castro was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Saturday.

Castro appeared in 18 games for the Rockies this season but didn't do much with the opportunity, hitting a meager .174/.191/.261. His weak .210/.240/.265 career line won't make him a hot commodity on the waiver wire. Garrett Hampson's contract was selected in a corresponding move.

Gordon went 4-for-4 with a run in Seattle's 3-1 win over the White Sox on Friday.

Gordon brought his average up to .290 with the four-hit day that marked his second multi-hit performance in a row and his third in his last five contests. He remains a good source of steals and runs who hits for a solid average, Gordon just won't ever offer much in the power department, as he's slugging just .353 with one home run in 365 at-bats.

Diaz went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Friday's 8-7 extra-inning win over the Orioles.

The four hits were a season high for Diaz, who popped his ninth homer of the year in the third inning off Dylan Bundy to get the Jays' offense rolling. His .252/.287/.419 slash line through 71 games isn't particularly impressive, though, and is right in line with his .259/.290/.392 performance in 2017 with the Cards, so it seems unlikely Diaz is in store for a big second-half turnaround.

Correa (back) won't come off the disabled list until the conclusion of Houston's current road trip, Austin Laymance of MLB.com reports.

Correa has been sidelined since June 26 due to back soreness, but he's been making strides towards a return as he began a rehab stint during the All-Star break. The Astros' current road trip finishes July 25, so the earliest he would return is July 27 against Texas. More updates on Correa's status should surface as he progresses through his rehab assignment.

Crawford (hand) resumed fielding grounders and playing catch Friday, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic Philadelphia reports.

Crawford has been on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured left hand since being hit by a pitch in mid-June, and was originally expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks. The 23-year-old will likely require a minor-league rehab assignment after missing the last month, and a return at the end of July currently appears optimistic.

Urena was called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.

Urena will provide depth for Toronto's infield during his time with the club. Across 11 games at the big-league level this year, he's gone 5-for-18 (.278 average) with one home run, three RBI and seven strikeouts. He will be available off the bench for Friday's series opener against Baltimore.
