  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Homers in win

Witt went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-5 win over the White Sox.

Witt provided valuable insurance with a two-run homer in the ninth inning, giving the Royals a 7-2 lead that held up after the White Sox rallied for three runs in the bottom of the frame. The shortstop has opened June on a seven-game hit streak, tallying three extra-base hits and six RBI during that span. Though he's delivered just eight home runs across 289 plate appearances, Witt is slashing .291/.349/.492 with 37 RBI and 25 runs scored while tying for second in the majors with 21 steals.

  • Nasim Nunez SS | WAS

Nationals' Nasim Nunez: Sent to Triple-A

Nunez was optioned to Triple-A Rochester after Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Nunez went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in the contest before being replaced at the plate by Robert Hassell in the bottom of the eighth inning. Nunez will return to Rochester after being called up April 12, posting a disappointing .186 average with two doubles, five RBI, six runs scored and seven stolen bases over 43 at-bats in 23 games with the Nationals. It's unclear who will be replacing Nunez on the major-league roster, but Washington will have an extra day to think about it with an off day Monday before heading to New York to face the Mets for a three-game set beginning Tuesday.

  • Konnor Griffin SS | PIT

Pirates' Konnor Griffin: Moving up to High-A

The Pirates are set to promote Griffin from Single-A Bradenton to High-A Greensboro during the upcoming week, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The No. 9 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Griffin is ready for a stiffer challenge after an excellent showing in the Florida State League to begin the season. Over his 50 games with Bradenton, the 19-year-old shortstop slashed .338/.396/.536 with nine home runs and 26 stolen bases.

  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Returning for series finale

Volpe (elbow) is starting at shortstop and batting sixth Sunday against the Red Sox.

The 24-year-old was out of Saturday's lineup after sustaining an elbow bruise on a hit-by-pitch Friday, but he'll return to action for Sunday's series finale versus Boston. Volpe has clubbed two homers in his past four games and has gone 3-for-11 with four RBI during that span.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Giants' Willy Adames: Receiving first day off in 2025

Adames is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Adames has started all 65 games (64 at shortstop, one at designated hitter) for the Giants this season, but he'll head to the bench Sunday after going 0-for-18 with four walks and eight strikeouts in his past six contests. The veteran shortstop inked a seven-year, $182 million contract with San Francisco in December, but his tenure has gotten off to a rocky start with a .584 OPS and just five homers in 278 plate appearances.

  • Trey Sweeney SS | DET

Tigers' Trey Sweeney: Losing hold of regular role

Sweeney is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Sweeney will sit against a right-handed starter (Cade Horton) for the second time in three games and appears to have shifted into a part-time role with Parker Meadows and Wenceel Perez off the IL, leaving fewer opportunities in the outfield for Javier Baez and Zach McKinstry. Baez will occupy shortstop and McKinstry will cover third base in Sunday's series finale.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Receiving rare day off

Abrams is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Abrams started 40 straight games after recovering from a hip injury in late April, but he has a .127/.213/.182 slash line over his last 14 contests and will get a couple days to reset ahead of Tuesday's series opener versus the Mets. Nasim Nunez will take over at shortstop and bat ninth Sunday.

  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

Rays' Jose Caballero: Not in Sunday's lineup

Caballero is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Caballero started the first two games of the series in the outfield and will sit Sunday while in the midst of an 0-for-14 slump. Jake Mangum, Kameron Misner and Josh Lowe will man the outfield from left to right field.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Remains in lineup for series finale

De La Cruz will start at shortstop and bat third in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

After the recent passing of his sister, De La Cruz had been expected to be placed on the bereavement list prior to Friday's series opener versus Arizona, but the Reds never made an official transaction. The star shortstop wasn't on Friday's lineup card while he was away from the team, but after that game was suspended, he came off the bench when it resumed Saturday before going 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs scored in Saturday's regularly scheduled contest.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Homers in loss

Perdomo went 1-for-7 with a solo home run in losses to the Reds on Friday and Saturday. The Friday game was suspended due to rain and completed Saturday.

Perdomo homered during the Friday portion of the first game, which was suspended after six innings with score tied 3-3. Since being moved up in the order a week ago, Perdomo has gone 3-for-25 over six games.
