Pirates' Tucupita Marcano: Sent back to Double-A
Marcano was optioned to Double-A Altoona on Saturday.

Kevin Smith DH | NYY
Athletics' Kevin Smith: Doubles in pinch-hit at-bat
Smith (ankle) entered Friday's loss to the Guardians in the ninth inning as a pinch hitter and doubled in his only at-bat.
Activated from the injured list earlier in the day, Smith hit the ground running in his first official at-bat since April 18. Smith has produced a forgettable .188/.235/.281 slash line in his first 34 plate appearances, but at least half of his six hits have gone for extra bases.

J.P. Crawford SS | SEA
Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Scores twice in Friday's loss
Crawford went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs in a loss to the Marlins on Friday.
Crawford recorded his ninth extra-base hit with his leadoff double in the ninth and extended his hitting streak to eight games in the process. The veteran shortstop is on pace to put up career-best numbers based on his torrid start, as he's sporting a .352/.447/.577 slash line over his first 85 plate appearances.

C.J. Abrams SS | WAS
Padres' CJ Abrams: Sits again Saturday
Abrams remains on the bench for Saturday's game against the Pirates.
Abrams and Ha-Seong Kim were in something close to a true platoon at shortstop throughout the early part of the season, but Abrams' off day here against JT Brubaker means he's now sat against two straight righties. It's possible he's dealing with an unreported injury, but it's also possible he's being benched due to his .146/.255/.244 slash line. Kim, who's hitting a far better .273/.373/.568, will get another start Saturday.

Jorge Mateo SS | TB
Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Retreats to bench
Mateo isn't starting Saturday against the Red Sox.
Mateo started in the last eight games but hit just .179 with two doubles, a run, four stolen bases, a walk and 10 strikeouts. He'll get a day off while Chris Owings starts at shortstop and bats ninth.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Records fifth steal
Edman went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Edman has shown no hesitation to run lately with four of his five stolen bases on the year coming in the last four games. The second baseman has a .318/.416/.515 slash line with three home runs, 11 RBI, 12 runs scored, a triple and two doubles through 19 contests. That's earned him time in the leadoff spot.

Trea Turner SS | PHI
Dodgers' Trea Turner: Extends on-base streak, swipes bag
Turner went 0-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 5-1 win over Detroit.
Turner didn't collect any hits in the contest, but he registered a sacrifice fly in the third inning and reached base on a walk in the seventh. That extended his on-base streak to 38 games, the third-longest in the majors since 2020, per Dodger Insider. Turner also stole his fourth base of the season -- he leads the Dodgers in both steals and RBI (17).
