Swanson went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, two runs scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 14-2 win over the Pirates.

The shortstop was right in the thick of two offensive eruptions for Atlanta as the team racked up five runs in the fourth inning and another seven in the eighth. Swanson is batting .271 (26-for-96) through 23 games in August with only one homer and two steals, but he has piled up 14 runs and 18 RBI.

Seager went 2-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored Tuesday against Colorado.

Seager managed his first multi-RBI game since Aug. 9 but scored multiple runs in each of the Rangers' games at Coors Field. He's also riding a five-game hitting streak, and he's recorded multiple knocks on three occasions in that span. Overall, Seager has maintained a .257/.333/.467 line across 520 plate appearances on the season.

DeJong is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

After sitting out the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader, DeJong is on the bench for a second consecutive contest, though he still appears to be the Cardinals' top option at shortstop. Since rejoining the Cardinals in late July following an extended stay at Triple-A Memphis, DeJong has produced an .800 OPS while driving in 17 runs in 23 games.

Franco said his surgically repaired right wrist didn't bother him while he took swings in the batting cage and fielded grounders Tuesday, and he expects to resume his rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham within the coming days, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Franco appeared in a game for Durham on Aug. 16, but after experiencing discomfort in the wrist, he didn't play any of the following four days before being pulled off the assignment Sunday. Fortunately for the Rays, the 21-year-old doesn't appear to be dealing with a major setback, given that he was able to resume baseball activities Tuesday. Franco is scheduled to go through a full workout Wednesday, and if all goes well, the Rays could be comfortable sending him back to Durham for game action.

Perdomo isn't starting Wednesday against the Royals.

Perdomo started the last seven games and hit just .048 with two RBI, a stolen base, two walks and five strikeouts during that time. Sergio Alcantara is starting at shortstop and batting ninth.

Wendle isn't starting Wednesday against the Athletics, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Wendle went 0-for-12 with a stolen base, a walk and two strikeouts over the last three games. Jon Berti will shift to third base while Charles Leblanc starts at the keystone Wednesday.

Baez was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Pirates due to back spasms, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Baez was removed from the starting lineup minutes before first pitch. Kody Clemens will start at second base and bat third while Willi Castro shifts to shortstop.

Grissom went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Pirates.

The 21-year-old rookie continues a remarkable start to his big-league career. In 14 games since being called up from Double-A Mississippi to cover for a rash of injuries to Atlanta's middle infielders, Grissom has eight multi-hit performances, leading to an absurd .420/463/.660 slash line with three homers, two steals, 10 RBI and 14 runs -- all while hitting mainly in the bottom third of the order.

Witt went 2-for-4 with a triple, a solo home run and an additional run in a 7-3 loss to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Witt's ability to get on base from the top third of the Royals lineup has been subpar in his rookie season, evidenced by a .294 OBP. However, the 22-year-old shortstop has flashed a rare combination of power and speed over the first 472 plate appearances of his young career. Witt now has 17 home runs to go along with six triples and 24 stolen bases in 2022.

Turner went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 10-1 win over the Brewers.

Turner knocked an RBI single in the fourth inning and an RBI double in the eighth. This was the shortstop's eighth multi-hit effort through 21 games in August, a month in which he's batting .302 (26-for-86). That's right in line with his season mark of .308, and he's added an .837 OPS, 18 home runs, 85 RBI, 77 runs scored and 20 stolen bases through 122 games. The one downside to his recent performance is his ongoing 17-game homer drought.
