Berti was removed from Wednesday's loss to the Rays with right hip soreness, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

The 32-year-old left with the injury after the eighth inning, and he provided Miami's only real offensive production prior to his exit by going 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base. Miami has a scheduled day off Thursday, so Berti will have a day to rest up ahead of Friday's series opener in Atlanta.

Velazquez isn't starting Wednesday against the Yankees, Sarah Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Velazquez is getting a breather after he went 0-for-9 with six strikeouts over the last three games. David Fletcher will start at shortstop and lead off.

Pena didn't get rewarded with a big performance in the box score, but he entered Tuesday's game with just one hit across his last 15 at-bats -- spanning five games. It was also only his third multi-hit performance in his last 13 starts, during which time he's hit .192 with four RBI and six runs scored. After a hot start to his rookie season, Pena has slumped significantly and owns a .246/.285/.410 line with a 24.8 percent strikeout rate across 431 plate appearances.

Duran went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Astros.

The Rangers' youth movement provided all the offense for Texas, as Duran and Bubba Thompson each swatted solo shots. The blast was Duran's fifth, including his second in the last four games. The team is committed to him as its primary third baseman for the rest of the season, but 2023 may be a different story. Josh Jung, the organization's top prospect, is at Triple-A Round Rock and knocking on the MLB door.
