Richard Urena SS | WAS
Blue Jays' Richard Urena: Surprises with bat in start
Urena went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Sunday's extra-innings loss to the Tigers.
Getting the start at shortstop and hitting eighth, Urena was the only Jay to collect multiple hits on the day. The 23-year-old has a career .364 SLG in 173 big-league at-bats, so performances like this are likely to be rare, but given his strong glove and all the moving parts on the team's infield, he could get more playing time than you might expect in 2019 -- assuming he isn't the roster casualty when Vlad Guerrero Jr. gets the call.

Joey Wendle 2B | ATL
Rays' Joey Wendle: MRI on tap
Wendle, who exited Sunday's game with a left hamstring strain, will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Wendle commented after the game that his gut feeling was the injury wasn't overly serious. Naturally, the MRI results will offer a final verdict and an update on Wendle's status should come at some point Monday.

Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Mariners' Dee Gordon: Drives home three runs
Gordon went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 10-8 victory over Boston.
Gordon started the scoring party in the second inning with a two-run single off Rick Porcello. The 30-year-old has three stolen bases and six RBI in his first six games in 2019. Expect him to blow by his 30-stolen-base total from last season.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Closing in on extension
Bogaerts and the Red Sox are closing in on a six-year, $120 million contract extension that would take effect starting in 2020, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
While the exact details of the extension are still being ironed out, the deal appears imminent and could be finalized within the next few days. Bogaerts put together the best season of his young career in 2018, hitting .288 with 23 homers and 103 RBI over 136 games, so the Red Sox have opted to lock him up for the foreseeable future before he has a chance to hit the open market.

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Collects first extra-base hit
Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Royals.
Anderson, who's hit safely in all three games to start the season, slugged his first extra-base hit. He's 4-for-12 with an RBI and a stolen base while striking out just once.

Joey Wendle 2B | ATL
Rays' Joey Wendle: Leaves with hamstring strain
Wendle left Sunday's game against the Astros with a left hamstring strain, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Wendle is considered day-to-day. If he's forced to miss time, Brandon Lowe or Daniel Robertson will cover for him at second base.

Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Mariners' Dee Gordon: Swipes bag in win
Gordon went 1-for-4 with an RBI infield single and a stolen base in a win over the Red Sox on Saturday.
The second baseman used his elite wheels to leg out an infield single in the fourth inning with Ryon Healy aboard, snapping a 2-2 tie. Gordon subsequently notched his second steal of the season and has now hit safely in four of the first five games of the campaign.

Carlos Correa SS | HOU
Astros' Carlos Correa: Returns to lineup
Correa is back in the lineup as expected Sunday against the Rays, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Correa missed the team's first three games with neck stiffness, but his absence was never supposed to be a long one. He'll hit cleanup and play shortstop in Sunday's game.
-
Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU
Astros' Aledmys Diaz: Not in lineup
Diaz is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays.
Diaz started the first two games at shortstop in place of the injured Carlos Correa (neck), but he'll take a seat in the third game after making a costly error that led to three unearned runs Friday. Alex Bregman will slide over to short and Yuli Gurriel will slot in at third base.

Willy Adames SS | SF
Rays' Willy Adames: Bows out of lineup
Adames is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Adames has opened his season on a disappointing note, going 0-for-7 with five strikeouts through two games. The Rays aren't expected to pull the plug on Adames as their starting shortstop, but the team's wealth of versatile infield options means the 23-year-old may not have a lengthy leash if he endures a more extended slump.
