Carlos Correa SS | HOU
Astros' Carlos Correa: Will work out next week
Correa (back) will participate in workouts over the next week to determine his availability for the American League Division Series, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Correa is still with the team in Los Angeles but was not spotted at Angel Stadium prior to Friday's game. "We're going to have to see him do a lot of stuff between now and next Friday," Houston general manager Jeff Luhnow said. "He's going to have to ramp up his activity each day and give us comfort that he's ready to play. If he's not ready to play, he (could) be on the roster and not play. But, most likely, we'd have to use that roster spot for someone else." That Correa's not performing baseball activities at this time is concerning. The Astros will return to Houston on Monday and will have two scheduled workouts Wednesday and Thursday before the ALDS opens Friday, Oct. 4.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Accounts for team's lone run
Bogaerts went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Friday's loss to Baltimore.
Bogaerts prevented a shutout by delivering an RBI single to center in the bottom of the ninth inning, but the Red Sox would fall 4-1. With only two games remaining in the regular season, the 26-year-old is hitting .306 with 32 homers and 114 RBI.

Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Mariners' Dee Gordon: Sits again Friday
Gordon (back) remains out Friday against the Athletics.
Gordon sat Thursday with a tight back and will be on the bench for at least one more game, although Greg Johns of MLB.com reports that the decision to sit Gordon on Friday was primarily related to giving younger players a chance to play. Accordingly, it's unclear if he's expected to start either of the final two games of the season. Donnie Walton will be the second baseman Friday.

Bo Bichette 3B | NYM
Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Fielding grounders
Bichette (concussion) fielded grounders prior to Friday's game against the Rays, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
A concussion has kept Bichette sidelined for over a week. He's hoping to clear concussion protocol prior to the end of the season, though the Blue Jays have no reason not to be extra cautious with the promising young shortstop.

Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA
Twins' Ehire Adrianza: Could play this weekend
Adrianza (oblique) has been told he will probably play two games this weekend, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Adrianza has been out of action since Sept. 12 with a right oblique strain. He'll likely need to show he's healthy to have a chance to be included on the playoff roster.

Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Mariners' Dee Gordon: Managing back issue
Gordon, who was out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics, is dealing with back tightness, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Gordon had been undercut by teammate Tim Lopes while making a catch in shallow right field in the fourth inning of a loss to the Astros on Wednesday, and he felt his back begin to stiffen shortly thereafter. The veteran was feeling better Thursday and was available off the bench, but his chances of starting Friday's game remain up in the air.

Chris Owings SS | LAD
Red Sox's Chris Owings: Homers in loss
Owings started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 7-5 loss to the Rangers.
Owings has started four of the last five games, playing shortstop or second base, as the Red Sox wrap up a disappointing season. He's filled in all over the field for Boston, including playing all three outfield positions. Since his team was eliminated from playing in the postseason, Red Sox manager Alex Cora has thrown together some unconventional, and sometimes unrecognizable, lineups over the final two weeks of the season. Owings may get at-bats over the weekend, but it's hard to tell when or at which position.

Carlos Correa SS | HOU
Astros' Carlos Correa: Shut down for regular season
Correa (back) has been shut down for the rest of the regular season but is expected to start Game 1 of the ALDS, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The Astros will keep the 25-year-old out of action until the postseason to ensure he's 100 percent. Aledmys Diaz and Jack Mayfield figure to see time at shortstop in the final four regular-season contests.

Carlos Correa SS | HOU
Astros' Carlos Correa: Out again Thursday
Correa (back) isn't in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
As expected, Correa will take a seat for the third straight day due to back tightness. The Astros are likely exercising caution with their starting shortstop, and he should be able to return to the starting lineup sometime over the weekend before the postseason begins.

Mariners' Dee Gordon: Heads to bench
Gordon is not starting Thursday against the Athletics, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Gordon will head to the bench for Thursday's series opener with a left-hander, Sean Manaea, starting for the A's. In his place, Shed Long is manning the keystone and hitting leadoff.
