Ashcraft allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out two batters over six innings in a no-decision against San Diego on Monday.

Ashcraft held the Padres scoreless until the sixth inning, when he balked home a run. That ended up being the only time San Diego scored while the righty starter was in the game, as he notched his third consecutive quality start and 13th overall this season. Ashcraft has given up exactly one run in each of his past three outings, posting a remarkable 1.17 ERA across 23 innings during that span. The 26-year-old has blossomed this season into a very promising MLB starter, posting a 13-5 record with a 3.59 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 161:34 K:BB across 155.1 frames spanning 26 starts.

Wheeler (10-5) took the loss against Seattle on Monday, allowing eight runs on nine hits and five walks while striking out four batters over four-plus innings.

Wheeler looked entirely off his game Monday -- he tied season-worst marks with five walks and four homers allowed while needing 103 pitches to cover just four frames. The veteran hurler's outing ended on an especially sour note when he gave up back-to-back long balls leading off the fifth inning before being pulled. Wheeler has now gone six straight starts without completing six innings, and he's given up four or more runs four times during that span while going 0-3. After posting an outstanding 2.13 ERA across 15 first-half appearances, he's stumbled to a 7.18 ERA through seven second-half starts. He'll try to turn things around the next time he takes the mound, which lines up to be a road matchup versus the Angels.

Gilbert (11-7) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five innings in a win over Philadelphia on Monday.

Gilbert gave up two runs over his first two innings but settled in and didn't allow the Phillies to score thereafter. Meanwhile, Seattle's offense racked up eight runs through five frames to help Gilbert nab his third straight victory. The right-hander has given up three or fewer runs in each of his past seven starts, though he's pitched fewer than six innings four times during that span. Gilbert will carry a 3.36 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 162:39 K:BB through 155.1 frames into his next start, which is projected to be a road matchup against the red-hot Red Sox.

Klassen (2-2) took the loss against Cleveland on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out three batters over 5.1 innings.

Klassen didn't have good control, as he threw only 54 of 90 pitches for strikes and walked three batters. Nonetheless, he kept the Angels in the game by holding the Guardians without an extra-base hit while falling two outs shy of a quality start. Klassen began his MLB career in poor fashion by giving up six earned runs over 4.2 frames across his first two appearances, but he's been much better since, yielding only five earned runs in his past four outings spanning 22.1 innings. That's brought his season ERA down to a respectable 3.67, but the right-hander still has a poor 1.63 WHIP and an ominous 24:21 K:BB across 27 innings overall. Klassen will almost certainly need to bring his walk rate down to experience prolonged MLB success, and he'll look to show growth in that area in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to be a home matchup against the Yankees.

Messick (10-8) earned the win over the Angels on Monday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out four batters over six innings.

Messick was perfect for three innings, but the Angels got to him for a run on three singles in the fourth. Those ended up being the only hits the left-hander allowed, and he faced the minimum the rest of the way. Messick didn't have his swing-and-miss stuff working -- the four punchouts were his fewest since he notched just one strikeout against Miami on July 10 -- but he nonetheless recorded his second straight quality start and his 11th overall this season. He's been one of the AL's most effective starters in 2026 with a 2.50 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 156:41 K:BB over 155 innings spanning 26 starts.

Whisenhunt left Monday's game against the Reds due to left elbow pain, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

This update doesn't provide much additional information, so it appears the team needs to run additional tests to determine the severity of Whisenhunt's elbow injury. It's not yet clear if the southpaw will be able to make his next start, which tentatively lines up for Saturday against Arizona.

Gray (elbow) is scheduled to make the third appearance of his rehab assignment Tuesday with High-A Wilmington, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.

Gray has spent the entire season on the injured list after suffering a right flexor strain during spring training. He was cleared to begin his rehab assignment at Single-A Fredericksburg last week and covered three innings between two appearances, striking out three batters while allowing one run on four hits and one walk. Gray was deployed in relief in both of those outings, so the Nationals may be leaning toward bringing him back from the 60-day IL as a multi-inning reliever rather than stretching him out for a starting role.

Rocker (5-10) picked up the win while allowing two runs on five hits and three walks Monday. He struck out eight.

After three shaky outings from Rocker, he bounced back Monday against the White Sox. The 26-year-old's lone mistake was a two-run homer off the bat of Tristan Peters in the second inning. Rocker now owns a 4.41 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 117:51 K:BB in 126.2 innings this season.

Whisenhunt left Monday's start against the Reds due to an apparent left arm injury, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. He allowed two hits and one walk while striking out three over 2.2 scoreless innings prior to exiting.

Whisenhunt walked off the field with team trainers in the top of the third inning, though the severity of the injury remains unclear. He'll likely be sent for further tests to determine whether he'll require a trip to the injured list.

Feltner (5-8) took the loss Monday against the Nationals after allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits and four walks. He struck out six.

Feltner cruised through the first four innings, keeping the Nationals off the board until a five-run fifth inning that he could not recover from. This marks consecutive starts in which the 29-year-old allowed five or more earned runs. The right-hander has not recorded a quality start since July 3 against San Francisco. This year, Feltner now owns a 6.08 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 70:43 K:BB over 97.2 innings.
