Will Warren P | NYY
Yankees' Will Warren: Suffers tough-luck loss
Warren (8-8) took the loss against the Orioles on Friday, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
Warren gave up a solo shot in the second inning but was otherwise steady, with two unearned runs in the sixth stemming from a pair of Orioles errors. Despite getting tagged for six runs last Sunday, the 26-year-old has now held opponents to two earned runs or fewer in four of his past five starts while working at least five frames each time. He'll take a 4.35 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 164:64 K:BB across 157.1 innings into a projected home matchup with the White Sox next week.

Davis Martin SP | CHW
White Sox's Davis Martin: Notches seventh victory
Martin (7-10) allowed three runs on six hits and one walk over six innings to earn the win Friday against San Diego. He struck out four.
The Chicago right-hander made quick work of the Padres to tally his ninth quality start, completing his six frames on 77 pitches. Davis contained his opponent by generating a 55.0 percent groundball rate, with the three runs allowed scoring on two singles and a groundout. Across 138.1 total innings this season, the 28-year-old now sports a 4.03 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 99:46 K:BB while producing a 44.7 percent groundball rate. Martin currently lines up for a difficult test in his final start of 2025, which projects to come on the road against the Yankees.

Trevor Rogers SP | BAL
Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Tosses six scoreless in win
Rogers (9-2) earned the win against the Yankees on Friday, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out seven over six scoreless innings.
Rogers generated 17 whiffs on a season-high 106 pitches and held the Yankees hitless until the sixth inning. The southpaw has now allowed just 16 earned runs across 17 starts this season, giving up two runs or fewer in all but one outing. He'll carry a 1.35 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 100:26 K:BB over 106.2 innings into a projected road rematch with the Yankees next weekend.

Dylan Cease SP | SD
Padres' Dylan Cease: Falters vs. former club
Cease (8-12) conceded four runs on four hits and three walks over six innings to take the loss Friday against the White Sox. He struck out six.
The San Diego righty entered this appearance on a successful run, going 2-0 with a 2.40 ERA in 15 innings over three starts this month. Despite taking his 12th loss Friday, establishing a new career-worst mark, Cease pitched relatively well. In this 100-pitch outing, the 29-year-old allowed just one extra-base hit -- a Miguel Vargas two-run homer in the first. Cease will carry a 4.64 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 207:69 K:BB across 163 total frames into his next start, which currently projects come at home against Milwaukee.

Bryan Woo SP | SEA
Mariners' Bryan Woo: Exits with trainer
Woo was removed from Friday's game against the Astros with an apparent injury, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Woo had made it through five innings of shutout ball Friday, but a Mariners trainer made the decision to pull the right-hander while he was warming up for the sixth. It isn't immediately clear what is bothering Woo, but the team should provide some details regarding his condition relatively soon.

Pablo Lopez SP | MIN
Twins' Pablo Lopez: Exits with forearm tightness
Lopez was removed from Friday's game against Cleveland with right forearm tightness, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Lopez tweaked his forearm while making a diving play on a ball in the third inning, and he was eventually pulled after making it through four frames. The Twins haven't offered any information regarding the severity of his injury, so it remains unclear if he'll make his next scheduled start.

Seth Lugo SP | KC
Royals' Seth Lugo: Unlikely to return in 2025
Lugo (back) hasn't resumed throwing after a recent setback and Royals manager Matt Quatraro said this week that a 2025 return is a "longshot," Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Lugo's back didn't respond well to a bullpen session he threw Monday, and he remains shut down from throwing. With just over a week remaining in the regular season and the Royals all but eliminated from playoff contention, a 2025 return seems very unlikely.

Tyler Mahle SP | TEX
Rangers' Tyler Mahle: Activated ahead of start
The Rangers reinstated Mahle (shoulder) from the injured list ahead of his start against Miami on Friday.
A shoulder strain has kept Mahle off a big-league mound since mid-June, though he's made three rehab appearances in the minors this month, coughing up five earned runs with a 10:2 K:BB across 7.1 innings. He threw just 52 pitches during his most recent appearance, so the Rangers may aim to limit his workload Friday against a Marlins offense that's posted a .712 OPS since Sept. 1. Carl Edwards was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Kodai Senga SP | NYM
Mets' Kodai Senga: Takes step back in Triple-A start
Senga allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four across 3.2 innings in a start with Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.
Senga fanned eight over six innings of one-run ball in his first outing after being demoted to Syracuse, so Thursday's performance was a clear step backward. With Syracuse's season ending Sunday, the plan is for Senga to throw either a simulated game or live batting practice session next, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. It's looking unlikely at this point that Senga will be able to show enough to convince the Mets he should be included on their postseason roster, should they qualify.

Mitchell Parker P | WAS
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Shifting to bullpen
The Nationals have demoted Parker to the bullpen, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Parker has a 7.19 ERA in the second half and a 5.85 ERA over 30 starts for the Nationals this season. He should get another opportunity to compete for a spot in the rotation next season, but for the rest of this year he'll likely be a low-leverage reliever. The Nationals had been using a six-man rotation and will now revert to a traditional five-man setup.
