Miller (4-5) was tagged with the loss Friday against the Rangers after allowing five runs on six hits and a walk across 5.1 innings. He didn't record a strikeout.

Miller has dropped his last three decisions and five of the last six. The most surprising aspect of this outing is the fact that he didn't record a single strikeout for the first time in 2026. Miller is trending in the wrong direction and has gone 1-5 with a 4.01 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 33.2 innings over his last six starts, allowing seven homers. His next start won't be any easier, as he's scheduled to face the Dodgers on the road.

Sugano (10-4) picked up the win Friday, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over 5.1 innings in a 5-2 victory over the Brewers. He struck out five.

Both runs off Sugano scored on solo shots by Christian Yelich in the first inning and Brice Turang in the sixth, but he otherwise quieted the home squad over 93 pitches (55 strikes). The 36-year-old right-hander has won six straight decisions since the beginning of June despite a 5.73 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB in 37.2 innings over that stretch, and given his affordable one-year contract, he's a prime candidate to get moved by the trade deadline. If Sugano sticks with the Rockies, he would line up to make his next start at home next weekend against the Royals.

Gallen (elbow) was given permission to begin throwing and has thrown twice this week, MLB.com reports.

Gallen received a second opinion this week from Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who granted the right-hander permission to begin throwing again. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told Douglas Santo of Arizona Sports that Gallen has thrown out to 75 feet. Gallen will undergo another MRI in early August, at which point the club will determine how aggressive they can push his rehab.

Rogers didn't factor into the decision Friday against Atlanta after allowing two runs on six hits while striking out six across seven innings. He did not issue a walk.

Rogers has been tagged with the loss just once in his last nine starts since the beginning of June, a stretch in which he's gone 4-1 with an 1.80 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 45:14 K:BB across 55 innings. He's also allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven straight outings while notching six quality starts over that stretch. Rogers has been mentioned as a possible trade candidate ahead of the Aug. 3 deadline, but he remains in Baltimore for now, and his next start is scheduled to come against the Tigers on the road.

Holmes didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Orioles, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five across five innings.

Holmes has pitched at least five frames in each of his last four outings and has been remarkably consistent, allowing three runs or fewer and avoiding the loss each time. Furthermore, Holmes hasn't given up more than three earned runs in any outing since May 1, when he allowed six runs (five earned) against the Rockies at Coors Field, posting a 3.45 ERA and 1.38 WHIP since then. His next start is slated to come against the Mets on the road.

Soroka (glute) will throw a simulated game Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Soroka is scheduled to throw two innings or about 35 pitches. If all goes well Saturday, the right-hander is expected to follow up with at least one rehab start before an early-August return.

Rodriguez allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three over four innings in a no-decision Friday versus the Giants.

Rodriguez fell short of the five-inning mark for the second start in a row and the fifth time in nine outings this season. Rafael Devers hit a two-run home run in the first inning and Casey Schmitt added a three-run blast in the third to account for all of the runs on Rodriguez's line. The struggling starter is now at an 8.54 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 30:19 K:BB through 39 innings this season, though he has battled shoulder and back injuries. His next start is projected to be at home against the Astros.

Webb allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Friday.

The Angels put together a three-run fifth inning, which accounted for most of the damage on Webb's line. He remains winless in July and has allowed 19 runs over 22.2 innings across his four starts this month. Webb is now at a 3.98 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 89:29 K:BB through 113 innings over 18 starts. He's projected for a tough home start versus the Brewers in his next outing.

Musgrove (elbow) threw 23 pitches in live batting practice Friday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Friday's session was shorter than the 30-to-40-pitch bullpen session he logged last Friday, but it still marks a significant step forward, as it's the first time he's faced live hitters since spring training. He's scheduled to throw against hitters again sometime next week and will likely do so a few more times before beginning an extended rehab assignment.

May allowed one run on seven hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out eight over six innings in a no-decision versus the Reds on Friday.

This was an improved outing for May, who had walked four batters in each of his previous two starts. This also was his first quality start since he tossed a one-hitter versus the Padres on June 15. May is at a 4.59 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 103:33 K:BB through 104 innings over 20 starts this season. The veteran right-hander's next start is projected to be at home versus the Cubs.
