Peralta earned the win during Saturday's Game 1 of the NLDS against the Cubs after allowing two earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings.

It seemed like Peralta was going to be in for a long day after he allowed Michael Busch to hit a leadoff home run on Peralta's fourth pitch of the game, but the 29-year-old righty quickly settled in afterward. Nine runs of support from the Brewers' offense after two innings allowed him to work under minimal pressure for the rest of the afternoon, and he did so while tying a franchise record for strikeouts in a postseason game. If the Cubs take one of the next two games from Milwaukee, Peralta will surely be in the conversation to start Thursday in Game 4.

Boyd took the loss in Saturday's NLDS Game 1 against the Brewers, giving up six runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out one batter over two-thirds of an inning.

Boyd took the mound on three days' rest and with a 1-0 lead Saturday, but he saw it quickly evaporate after giving up consecutive doubles to Jackson Chourio (hamstring), Brice Turang and William Contreras to lead off the inning. Boyd went on to allow three more runners to reach base and eventually score, but a fielding error from Nico Hoerner prevented them from counting against the left-hander's ledger. Considering how much Boyd struggled while pitching on shorter rest, the Cubs will likely give him the proper four days before sending him back on the bump, putting him in line to start Game 4 on Thursday (if needed).

Kershaw is included on the Dodgers' NLDS roster.

Kershaw wasn't on the roster for the NL Wild Card Series against Cincinnati, but he'll now officially be available to pitch against the Phillies. The Dodgers have already confirmed Shohei Ohtani, Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow as their starting arms for the NLDS, so Kershaw will move to the bullpen to provide aid to a Dodgers bullpen that has struggled to limit runs recently.

Woo (pectoral) isn't on the Mariners' roster for the ALDS, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Woo missed the final couple of weeks of the regular season due to right pectoral inflammation. He tossed a bullpen session Thursday that the Mariners considered successful, but evidently not successful enough to include him in the team's pitching plans for its ALDS matchup against the Tigers. The 25-year-old will be eligible to return in the ALCS if Seattle advances.

Gil is listed on the Yankees' roster for the ALDS.

Gil was left off the Yankees' active roster during the wild-card round, but he'll now officially rejoin the pitching staff ahead of his start in Game 1 on Saturday. The 27-year-old righty faced the Blue Jays once in the regular season, giving up just one earned run on three hits and four walks while striking out one batter over six innings.

Scherzer isn't listed on the Blue Jays' ALDS roster.

After posting a 9.00 ERA and 1.80 WHIP over 25 innings across his final six starts of the regular season, Scherzer will now watch the ALDS from the sidelines. He could rejoin the active roster prior to the ALCS if the Blue Jays advance past the Yankees, but the veteran's recent performance may prevent him from seeing much action for the duration of Toronto's postseason run.

Bassitt (back) isn't included on the Blue Jays' ALDS roster.

Bassitt was expected to be available for the ALDS after ending the regular season on the injured list due to back inflammation, but the Jays will instead give the veteran righty additional time to heal. He will be eligible to rejoin Toronto's pitching staff for the ALCS if the team prevails over the Yankees in the ALDS.

Boyd will start against the Brewers on Saturday in Game 1 of the NLDS, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Boyd threw just 58 pitches across 4.1 innings during his start against the Padres in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series on Tuesday, leaving him fresh enough to take the mound again Saturday after only three days of rest. The 34-year-old southpaw struggled against the Brewers in the regular season, giving up nine earned runs on 12 hits and eight walks while striking out five batters in 10.1 frames across his two starts against them.

Garcia's right elbow surgery Wednesday involved a reconstruction of his UCL and repair of his flexor tendon, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

The Astros had already previously ruled Garcia out for next season, and now the team has offered more details regarding the operation on Garcia's pitching arm. It's the second time Garcia has had his UCL repaired, as he missed most of the last two seasons following Tommy John surgery. The 2026 season is the final one Garcia is under team control, so he will likely be non-tendered this offseason.

Quintana (calf) has been included on the Brewers' roster for the NLDS against the Cubs, but manager Pat Murphy declined to say whether the left-hander would start Monday's Game 2, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Quintana had been shelved since mid-September with a left calf strain, but he appears to be fully healthy now heading into the NLDS. Because of three off days, the Brewers will need only three starting pitchers for the NLDS, and Quintana looks to be in consideration for one of those spots. Freddy Peralta will take the hill for Game 1 on Saturday, leaving Quintana and Quinn Priester as the options to start Game 2.
