Javier is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Blue Jays in Houston, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Javier will be awarded his fifth start of the season after he had worked out of the bullpen in his past two appearances and allowed just four hits with a 9:0 K:BB across six scoreless innings. The right-hander has a 3.00 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB over 12 frames in five appearances overall since returning from a shoulder strain in early July. He could be operating with a restricted pitch count Monday, but Javier looks like he'll have a path to making multiple turns through the rotation while Spencer Arrighetti (foot) is on the shelf and the struggling Tatsuya Imai works out of the bullpen.

Lodolo (finger) is scheduled to throw 60-to-65 pitches during a rehab start with Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

The left-hander threw 50 pitches during live batting practice Friday and will now shift his rehab to a game setting. Lodolo is utilizing a new grip on his breaking ball in an attempt to prevent the recurring blister issues on his left index finger. It's possible he needs only one start in the minors before coming off the injured list, which would allow him to re-enter Cincinnati's rotation as early as Aug. 11 against the White Sox.

Liberatore didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Blue Jays, allowing just one hit and a walk across six scoreless innings. He struck out seven.

After giving up eight runs over nine innings in his last two starts, Liberatore responded with his best outing of the season Sunday, as he held Toronto to a lone single across six scoreless frames. Liberatore lowered his ERA to 4.97 with a 1.49 WHIP and 107:41 K:BB across 22 starts (108.2 innings) this season. The southpaw is currently slated to face the Rockies at home his next time out.

Scherzer allowed one run on four hits and a walk across six innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Cardinals. He struck out five.

It was a strong bounce-back effort from Scherzer after he went only 2.2 innings in his first start back from the IL against the Nationals his last time out. Sunday's effort marked Scherzer's third quality start in eight outings this season and his first since April 18. Overall, the veteran right-hander sports a 7.92 ERA with a 1.63 WHIP and 23:15 K:BB across 30.2 innings this year. Scherzer is currently slated to face the Cubs on the road his next time out.

Ritchie didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out four.

Making his first major-league start since June 23, Ritchie held the Nats scoreless through three innings before allowing two runs in the fourth. Overall, Ritchie sports a 4.50 ERA across 58 innings in the majors this season with a 1.43 WHIP and 53:36 K:BB. The 23-year-old rookie figures to get another look in Atlanta's rotation with Reynaldo Lopez (knee) on the IL. Ritchie currently lines up to face the Yankees on the road in his next outing.

Cavalli (8-5) took the loss Sunday against Atlanta, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out three.

Both earned runs charged to Cavalli came on a pair of solo home runs -- a Mike Yastrzemski blast in the third inning followed by Matt Olson's game-tying shot in the fourth. It's Cavalli's first loss since June 7, and the right-hander has turned in five straight quality starts, posting a 2.30 ERA across 30 innings in that span. Overall, Cavalli's ERA is down to 3.52 on the season with a 1.29 WHIP and 133:37 K:BB across 24 starts (122.2 innings). He's currently in line to face the Reds at home his next time out.

Canning is expected to pitch in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Kyle Hart in Sunday's game against the Giants, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Canning will be available to pitch on three days' rest after he struck out four over three shutout innings of relief in his previous appearance in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Rockies. Hart tossed 2.2 innings as an opener Wednesday, and while he could work a bit deeper into Sunday's outing, he's still unlikely to reach the five innings he would need to hit to qualify for a win. As a result, Canning -- who claimed his second victory of the season Wednesday -- looks like the Padres pitcher most likely to earn a win Sunday.

The Blue Jays acquired Taillon from the Cubs on Sunday in exchange for cash or a player to be named later, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

The veteran right-hander was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Monday, and the Blue Jays elected to secure his services via trade rather than risk another team claiming him on waivers. Unless Toronto shifts to a six-man rotation, Taillon doesn't cleanly fit into the club's starting plans, but that could change soon with Kevin Gausman and Shane Bieber being candidates to be moved ahead of Monday's trade deadline.

Ginn (finger) will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday's game at Cincinnati, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander landed on the shelf due to a blister after his first start coming out of the All-Star break, but he's ready to rejoin the big-league rotation after throwing a bullpen session Saturday. Even with an eight-run blowup versus the White Sox on July 12 inflating his numbers, Ginn has 6-3 record with a 3.72 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 52:26 K:BB in 55.2 innings across his past 10 starts.

The Mets acquired Gill Hill, outfielder Aidan Smith and infielder Emilien Pitre from the Rays on Sunday in exchange for right-hander Freddy Peralta, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Peralta is the third big domino to fall in the pitcher market leading up to Monday's deadline after Tarik Skubal and Luis Castillo were moved to the Dodgers and White Sox, respectively, earlier in the weekend. Gill Hill, 21, has had his share of troubles in his first taste of the Double-A level this season with a 4.54 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 61:14 K:BB across 81.1 innings. He'll likely report to Double-A Binghamton for the Mets.
