The Cubs will place Cabrera on the injured list Wednesday with a strained left hamstring, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Cabrera did the splits while extending to catch a throw to first base in the fifth inning of Tuesday's game, straining his hamstring in the process. He's slated to undergo an MRI on Wednesday to determine the severity of his injury, at which point the Cubs will have a better idea of how much time the 28-year-old will miss.

Sproat (2-4) earned the win Tuesday against the Reds, allowing one hit while striking out 10 over six scoreless innings.

Sproat turned in the best start of his young career, overpowering Cincinnati's lineup while carrying a no-hit bid into the sixth inning before Jose Trevino lined a single to center field. The right-hander threw 58 of his 80 pitches for strikes and generated an impressive 18 swing-and-misses. His 10 strikeouts set a new career high, and he continued to show improved command by extending his streak to five consecutive starts with two or fewer walks. Sproat now owns a 5.43 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 73:32 K:BB across 69.2 innings this season and is lined up for a rematch against the Reds in his next start, this time at home.

Littell did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 14-9 loss to the Phillies, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks with five strikeouts over four innings.

Littell entered in the second inning and pitched well before allowing two runs in the fifth, departing in line for a potential win before the Nationals' bullpen imploded late. While the 30-year-old owns a 5.40 ERA in 16 total appearances this season, he's pitched to a 3.28 mark in his five bulk relief outings. He'll take a 5.40 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 46:23 K:BB across 75 innings this season into his next outing, which lines up to come against Orioles this weekend.

Luzardo did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 14-9 win against the Nationals, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks with 13 strikeouts over 6.2 innings.

Luzardo struggled through a four-run fourth inning but was otherwise electric, generating 19 whiffs on 104 pitches and matching a career high with 13 strikeouts. It continued an uneven June for the 28-year-old, who's had two five-run outings while yielding three earned runs combined in his other two starts this month. He'll carry a 4.39 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 110:30 K:BB across 92.1 innings this season into a road matchup against the Mets this weekend.

Alcantara (8-4) earned the win against the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts over 6.2 innings.

Alcantara allowed a run in the second inning and cruised from there, logging his fifth straight quality-start victory in the process. Per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, he passed Ricky Nolasco to become the Marlins' all-time strikeout leader (1,002) in the seventh frame. The 30-year-old Alcantara will carry a 4.01 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 81:27 K:BB across 110 innings this season into a road matchup against the Rockies next week.

X-rays on Lodolo's left wrist came back negative after Tuesday's loss to the Brewers, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Lodolo took a 107-mph line drive off his wrist in the fourth inning of Tuesday's contest and was pulled after finishing the frame. However, he seems to have escaped the incident without suffering any structural damage, and he could be good to go for his next start -- tentatively scheduled to come in Milwaukee on Monday -- if swelling doesn't become too much of an issue.

McClanahan (6-5) took the loss against the Royals on Tuesday, allowing six runs (two earned) on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts over six innings.

It was an odd game for McClanahan, who logged just his second quality start of the campaign while also allowing multiple homers in a game for the first time. It continued a rough June for the 29-year-old, who's now 0-3 with a 5.79 ERA through four starts this month. He owns a 3.30 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 73:28 K:BB across 73.2 innings on the year and lines up for a home matchup with the Diamondbacks this weekend.

Cabrera was removed from Tuesday's game against the Mets with a left hamstring/adductor strain, Vinnie Duber of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Cabrera was hurt while extending to catch a throw to first base at the end of the fifth inning and appeared to be grabbing at his left thigh. He wasn't able to make it off the field by himself and had to leave the game in a cart. The Cubs will presumably send the right-hander in for imaging to determine the severity of his injury, and an update on his status could come after the game.

Lodolo suffered a left wrist contusion and exited Tuesday's contest against the Brewers in the fifth inning, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Lodolo was struck in the left wrist by a 107 mph line drive off the back of Jackson Chourio to open the top of the fourth inning. He was able to finish the frame, but he was ultimately forced to exit the contest before the fifth inning. Lodolo tossed four scoreless frames, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out six batters before his early departure. An update on the southpaw's status moving forward will likely be provided following the conclusion of Tuesday's contest.

Flaherty (ankle) tossed 5.2 innings in a rehab start Tuesday with Double-A Erie, giving up two earned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out seven batters.

Flaherty thew 83 pitches (58 strikes) in the rehab outing, which may be the only appearance he makes in the minors before returning from the 15-day injured list. The right-hander is eligible to come off the IL on Sunday, and he could be activated that day to start the Tigers' series finale versus the Astros in Detroit.
