The Reds activated Abbott (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Saturday.

Abbott began the season on the injured list due to a rotator cuff strain in his left shoulder that put an early end to his 2024 campaign. He made two rehab starts with Triple-A Louisville and has progressed enough in his throwing program to make his 2025 regular-season debut Saturday against the Pirates. Will Benson was optioned to Triple-A to make room for Abbott on the 26-man roster.

The Athletics recalled Ginn from Triple-A Las Vegas ahead of his start Saturday against the Mets.

The 25-year-old righty will be replacing Joey Estes in the Athletics' rotation, as the latter was relegated to the minors following a poor performance Sunday. Ginn, meanwhile, has hit the ground running in the minors with a 1.64 ERA and 0.64 WHIP alongside a 19:2 K:BB through 11 innings. Angel Perdomo was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Giolito (hamstring) is scheduled to start Tuesday for Triple-A Worcester, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Both Giolito and Brayan Bello (shoulder) will get at least one more start for the WooSox before the team decides on the next step for each pitcher. Giolito, who threw 64 pitches over 3.1 innings in his last rehab start, believes he only needs one more before being ready to return to Boston, though he admitted that the decision is out of his control, Sean McAdam of MassLive.com reports.

Bello (shoulder) allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out five over four innings for Triple-A Worcester on Friday.

There were several positives to Bello's third rehab start, including 45 strikes among his 64 pitches. The right-hander reached 97.8 mph on his sinker (95.8 mph average), induced 12 swinging strikes and retired the final eight batters faced. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said prior to the outing that he'd like to see Bello get up to five innings before he's activated, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports. Friday's results along with the manager's comments suggest at least one more rehab start for Bello.

Yamamoto (2-1) picked up the win Friday, scattering two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory over the Cubs. He struck out nine.

The right-hander continued his dominant beginning to 2025, delivering his second straight quality start without allowing an earned run. Yamamoto got stretched out to 103 pitches (64 strikes) in this one, racking up an impressive 33 called or swinging strikes along the way, and so far the Dodgers' plan to limit his workload to one start a week appears to be paying off. Through four outings, Yamamoto sports a 1.23 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 28:7 K:BB, and he'll look to keep rolling when he takes the bump for his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend against the Rangers.

Boyd (1-1) took the loss Friday as the Cubs fell 3-0 to the Dodgers, giving up three runs on four hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out seven.

The veteran lefty was locked in a scoreless pitchers' duel with Yoshinobu Yamamoto through five innings, but a Tommy Edman three-run homer in the sixth accounted for all of the game's scoring and stuck Boyd with his first runs, and first loss, of 2025. He left the mound after 98 pitches (58 strikes), and Boyd's had an impressive beginning to his Cubs tenure, posting a 1.59 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB through 17 innings. He'll look for his third straight quality start in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come on the road next week in San Diego.

Sears (1-2) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk over four-plus innings as the A's fell 7-6 to the Mets. He struck out seven.

The southpaw needed 101 pitches (64 strikes) to record 12 outs, and Sears ran out of steam in the fifth inning, serving up leadoff hits to Juan Soto and Pete Alonso before getting the hook. it was the first time in three outings that Sears failed to deliver a quality start, and he'll take a 4.24 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB through 17 innings into his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next week against the White Sox.

McCullers (forearm) will make his third rehab start with Triple-A Sugar Land on Saturday, MLB.com reports.

McCullers wasn't sharp in his second outing with Double-A Corpus Christi on April 5, though he did build up to 50 pitches. The Astros are shorthanded in their rotation in the absence of Spencer Arrighetti (thumb), so McCullers could be back in the big-league rotation soon with a couple of strong rehab outings.

Canning (1-1) picked up the win in Friday's 7-6 victory over the A's, giving up four runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

The right-hander was cruising until the sixth inning, when a three-run homer by Miguel Andujar chased Canning from the game and made a 6-1 lead a lot less comfortable for the Mets. Canning got the hook after 86 pitches (53 strikes), and he's carrying a 4.20 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 13:8 K:BB through his first 15 innings with New York. He'll look for his first quality start of the year in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Minnesota.

Rodriguez (0-2) took the loss Friday as the Diamondbacks were downed 7-0 by the Brewers, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out three.

The veteran lefty delivered his first quality start of 2025 on 95 pitches (62 strikes), but it wasn't good enough as Arizona's bats got completely stymied by Jose Quintana. Rodriguez has a 4.86 ERA through his first three outings of the season, but his 1.20 WHIP and 20:6 K:BB through 16.2 innings might be a better reflection of how effective he's been. Rodriguez will look for his first win of the campaign in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Miami.
