The Astros placed McCullers on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a blister on his right finger, retroactive to Sunday.

McCullers was lit up for four earned runs in just 2.2 innings during his last start Friday, and his move to the IL will ensure that his next outing doesn't come until at least early August. Nick Hernandez was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land to provide Houston with some extra bullpen depth, though it's currently unclear who will fill the open spot in the rotation.

Gordon is expected to be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Wednesday versus the Cardinals at Coors Field, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Gordon is set to join the rotation as a replacement for German Marquez (biceps), who is headed to the 15-day injured list. The 27-year-old righty has previously made three starts for Colorado this season, logging a 4.24 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 17 innings.

Marquez said Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with right biceps tendon inflammation and is likely to land on the injured list, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Marquez sustained the injury in his start in Sunday's loss to the Twins. The Rockies haven't provided a timeline for Marquez's return, but he'll likely be out for longer than the minimum 15 days. The Rockies plan to recall Tanner Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday to replace Marquez on the 26-man active roster and in the rotation.

Cortes (elbow) is scheduled to make his next rehab appearance Thursday and is expected to throw around 90 pitches, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Cortes has thus far made three rehab appearances between High-A Wisconsin and Triple-A Nashville, covering 12.1 innings in total and striking out nine while allowing one run on six hits and two walks. Assuming he checks out fine physically following Thursday's outing, Cortes will likely be cleared to return from the 60-day injured list next week. Though all five of the Brewers' starting pitchers are pitching effectively at the moment, Milwaukee could expand to a six-man rotation in order to accommodate Cortes' return.

Eovaldi (back) said Tuesday that he's good to go for Wednesday's start against the Athletics and does not expect to have any restrictions, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Eovaldi had to be scratched from a scheduled outing Sunday versus the Tigers due to back tightness, but he will return to the mound after simply being pushed back a few days. The veteran hurler has collected a microscopic 1.58 ERA and 0.85 WHIP over 16 outings for the Rangers this season.

Nola (ankle/rib) will begin a rehab assignment next week as long as he gets through another live batting practice session this weekend with no issues, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Nola faced hitters this past weekend for the first time since going on the injured list in mid-May and is progressing well, per Phillies manager Rob Thomson. The veteran right-hander initially went on the IL with a sprained ankle and later was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his rib. Given his long layoff, Nola will require multiple rehab outings before rejoining the Philadelphia rotation.

The Royals selected Hill's contract from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Hill will start Tuesday's game at Wrigley Field against the Cubs, which is the same site where he made his major-league debut all the way back in June 2005. The 45-year-old put up a 5.36 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 48:25 K:BB in 42 innings with Omaha before getting the promotion. Hill will be pitching on two days' rest after throwing two innings for Omaha on Saturday.

The Padres recalled Hart from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

Hart will provide reinforcement behind Tuesday's starter Stephen Kolek and could potentially follow the latter out of the bullpen. Hart has posted a 5.83 ERA and 19:6 K:BB over 29.1 innings at the big-league level this season.

Kolek -- who holds a 4.24 ERA and 49:22 K:BB across 68 major-league innings -- will draw the start Tuesday in Miami. Kyle Hart was also recalled and could form a piggyback situation with Kolek on Tuesday.

The White Sox activated Martin (forearm) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Tuesday against the Rays.

The right-hander has been sidelined over a month due to a forearm strain, but he'll rejoin Chicago's rotation after a two-start rehab assignment. Martin was pitching well this season prior to the injury, logging a 3.79 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 53:19 K:BB across 80.2 innings for the White Sox.
