Parker (6-7) took the loss against the Phillies on Thursday, allowing nine runs on 10 hits and two walks over three innings. He struck out six.

Parker struggled out of the gate, allowing six consecutive batters to reach with one out in the first inning while coughing up two homers to put Washington in an early hole. He breezed through the next two frames, even striking out the side in the third, before imploding in the fourth. The lefty allowed a season-high nine runs in the contest and walked multiple batters for the fifth time in his last six starts. Parker had pitched six scoreless innings in each of his previous two starts coming in, but he's now failed to make it through four innings in three of his last six outings.

Wheeler (12-5) picked up the win over the Nationals on Thursday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits over six innings while striking out six.

Wheeler surrendered just one hit over the first four innings before coughing a solo homer to Keibert Ruiz with one out in the fifth. He would then struggle a bit in the sixth inning as well, allowing the first two batters to reach -- the second on a hit-by-pitch -- before an unearned run would come home for Washington. The right-hander was able to hang on for his 12th win of the campaign while also logging his third consecutive quality start. Wheeler has allowed two or fewer runs in all three of his outings to open the month of August, going 2-0 over that stretch while posting a 23:3 K:BB.

Fried (7-7) allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five batters over 5.1 innings in a loss to San Francisco on Thursday.

Fried gave up two runs in the second inning and another in the sixth, which was more than enough for San Francisco to hand him a defeat on a day when Atlanta's offense was shut out. The southpaw did at least manage his longest outing over his three starts since returning from the IL on Aug. 4, and this was the first time he's given up fewer than four earned runs during that span. It's unclear if the forearm issue that landed him on the injured list is still bothering him, but Fried has a 7.90 ERA over the three starts since his activation.

Webb (11-8) earned the win over Atlanta on Thursday, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over 7.1 scoreless innings.

All four of the hits against Webb were singles, and he didn't allow a runner to reach third base until there were two outs in the eighth inning. The right-hander registered his fourth consecutive win, and he has three quality starts during that span. Webb has surrendered just two runs while posting a 25:6 K:BB across 29 innings during the dominant four-start stretch.

Flaherty allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against Milwaukee on Thursday.

Flaherty served up two homers resulting in three runs during the first frame as the Brewers jumped out to an early lead. The right-hander was able to settle down from there and didn't let any more runs cross the plate, averting what initially seemed like a potential blowup outing. Flaherty once again had his swing-and-miss stuff working, as he racked up 15 swinging strikes and seven punchouts -- marks he's reached in each of his three starts with the Dodgers so far. The veteran hurler has an impressive 24:4 K:BB over 16.2 innings during that span.

Myers allowed four runs (two earned) on eight hits and one walk while striking out one batter over 5.2 innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Thursday.

Myers didn't come close to matching the 7.1-inning scoreless gem he tossed in his previous outing, but he would have had another quality start Thursday had he been able to get one more out. The right-hander exited in the sixth with the score tied 3-3, and he watched from the dugout as one more run was added to his ledger when Elvis Peguero allowed an inherited runner to cross the plate. While this wasn't among Myers' better starts -- especially from a strikeout perspective, as he induced just four whiffs and notched only one punchout -- he did show the ability to hang around against elite competition. The rookie has now allowed two or fewer earned runs in 11 of his past 12 appearances, and he has a sparkling 1.86 ERA over 72.2 frames during that span.

Anderson tossed six scoreless innings with three hits, two walks and seven strikeouts Thursday for Triple-A Gwinnett against Norfolk.

David O'Brien of The Athletic speculates that Anderson appears close to ready to help the big-league rotation after this strong outing on 93 pitches. Anderson had a 3.86 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and an 8:6 K:BB over 11.2 innings in his previous two starts at Triple-A, so things are trending up. The 26-year-old righty had Tommy John surgery in April of 2023 and began his rehab assignment two months ago. Grant Holmes has been holding his own as Atlanta's fifth starter and Reynaldo Lopez (forearm) is due back soon, so it's unclear when Anderson will get the call.

Miller was scratched from his scheduled start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Miller isn't believed to be dealing with an injury, and DiGiovanna notes that the right-hander could be recalled from Triple-A to start Friday's game against the Cardinals, with the opening in the rotation created by the Dodgers pushing Tyler Glasnow back a day in the pitching schedule to start Saturday's contest. Justin Wrobleski is also lined up to pitch for Oklahoma City on Friday, so he or Miller would seem to the Dodgers' top options to take the hill in St. Louis. Miller opened the season in the big-league rotation, but he was sent down to the minors right before the All-Star break after posting an 8.07 ERA and 1.83 WHIP across 29 innings across seven starts. Over his last three starts in Triple-A, Miller has posted a 5.54 ERA and 1.69 WHIP across 13 frames.

Quintana didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the A's, allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out one.

Quintana struggled for most of Thursday's outing, though he'd manage to hold Oakland scoreless through the first three innings, despite loading the bases twice. However, the A's made the left-hander pay in the fourth, when JJ Bleday launched a grand slam following a pair of two-out walks. It's the third time in five starts that Quintana has issued four or more walks -- he's now allowed 12 runs over 15.2 innings in his last three outings. Overall, Quintana is 6-8 on the year with a 4.26 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 103:50 K:BB across 129 innings. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, currently lined up for next week at home versus the Orioles.

Atlanta promoted Lara from High-A Rome to Double-A Mississippi on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old from the Dominican Republic will make the move to the Southern League after he compiled a 3.92 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 72 strikeouts over 62 innings at Rome. The right-hander was particularly sharp over his last four outings at High-A, turning in a 1.19 ERA and 34:7 K:BB over 22.2 frames.
