  • Tylor Megill SP | NYM

Mets' Tylor Megill: Allows six runs in loss

Megill (2-4) took the loss against the Cubs on Saturday, allowing six runs on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts over three innings.

Megill allowed six baserunners and five runs in a disastrous 38-pitch first inning. He managed six strikeouts over the next two frames but also surrendered a solo home run to Christopher Morel and was replaced to open the fourth at 78 pitches. The outing was Megill's worst of the season, and he has now yielded 15 earned runs over 17.2 innings in four June starts. He owns a 4.81 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 43:16 K:BB through 33.2 innings in 2024 and tentatively lines up to face the Astros next week.

  • Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI

Marlins' Jesus Luzardo: Likely out 4-to-6 weeks

Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said that Luzardo, who was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier Saturday with a lumbar stress reaction, will likely be out for 4-to-6 weeks, the Associated Press reports.

Luzardo's back issue cropped up during his previous start last Sunday in Washington, but he had been on track to start Saturday's game against the Mariners until the Marlins scratched him a day in advance. He was moved to the IL a day later, with Schumaker confirming prior to Saturday's contest that the southpaw will be sidelined through at least the All-Star break with the injury. With the Marlins shaping up as non-contenders this season, Luzardo had been a sought-after name on the trade market, but his uncertain health could limit other teams' interest leading up to the July 30 deadline. Luzardo owns a 5.00 ERA over 12 starts on the season, but he had shown improved form since late April with a 3.86 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB across 46.2 innings over his last eight outings.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Reports soreness during bullpen

Kershaw (shoulder) reported soreness during Saturday's bullpen session and could have his rehab outing scheduled for Tuesday pushed back, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Kershaw completed three innings in a rehab outing at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday and was expected to jump up to Triple-A Oklahoma City for Tuesday's outing. However, he may need more time between rehab appearances after feeling soreness in his shoulder during a bullpen session Saturday. Even if Kershaw does have to push back his next outing, he wasn't expected back until near the All-Star break regardless.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Padres' Yu Darvish: Expected to start Tuesday

Darvish (groin) is scheduled to return from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Nationals, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Darvish will come off the IL to make his first start for the Padres since May 29 after a sore left groin resulted in a three-plus-week stay on the shelf. The 37-year-old made a minor-league rehab start with High-A Fort Wayne this past Wednesday, but since he only got up to 49 pitches, he'll be operating under some sort of workload restriction against the Nationals. Across 11 starts, Darvish owns a 3.20 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP with 53 strikeouts in 56.1 innings.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Padres' Joe Musgrove: Takes step toward return

Musgrove (elbow) lightly threw weighted plyometric balls Thursday, MLB.com reports.

A previous report indicated Musgrove could play catch around the middle of the week, but it turns out the extent of his throwing was the work he did with the plyo balls. The workout was, however, a step in his progression toward playing catch, which could happen before the end of the month. Musgrove doesn't seem close to taking part in a rehab assignment and isn't likely to be activated off the 15-day injured list until after the All-Star break.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Padres' Yu Darvish: Next start will be in majors

Darvish (groin) is expected to come off the injured list to make his next start with San Diego, per MLB.com.

Darvish struggled in a minor-league rehab start with High-A Fort Wayne on Wednesday, allowing six runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 3.1 innings. He threw only 49 pitches in that outing, but the Padres nonetheless appear intent on moving him back into the rotation for his next appearance. It hasn't yet been announced when Darvish will make that start, but given the typical time between outings, it's logical to expect Monday or Tuesday versus Washington to be the target date.

  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

Giants' Alex Cobb: Throwing live BP

Manager Bob Melvin said Saturday that Cobb (hip/shoulder) has progressed to throwing live batting practice, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The Giants skipper added that Cobb isn't far off from beginning a rehab assignment, though he didn't give an estimate as to when the right-hander might be ready to report to a minor-league affiliate. Once the 36-year-old begin his assignment, he'll certainly require a lengthy stay in the minors after spending the first three months of the season on the injured list following offseason hip surgery in addition to a bout with soreness in his pitching shoulder.

  • Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Won't start Sunday

Garrett was scratched from his scheduled start Sunday due to left elbow discomfort, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Garrett reported having problems in his elbow following a bullpen session Friday, so the Marlins will play it safe and hold him out of Sunday's contest. The 26-year-old southpaw will undergo further testing, and the results will help determine if he needs to spend some time on the injured list. Miami has not yet named a replacement starter for Sunday.

  • Kodai Senga SP | NYM

Mets' Kodai Senga: Facing hitters Sunday

Senga (shoulder) will throw live batting practice Sunday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Senga has had no issues throwing bullpen sessions over the last several days, so he will now graduate to throwing 20 pitches against hitters at the Mets' complex in Florida. Assuming all goes well, the 31-year-old righty will likely throw another few live sessions before being cleared to begin a rehab assignment with one of the Mets' minor-league affiliates.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SF

Giants' Robbie Ray: Moving rehab to Triple-A

Ray (elbow) will make a rehab appearance for Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Ray pitched 1.2 innings during his most recent appearance in rookie ball, and he's slated to stretch out to three innings Sunday. The 32-year-old lefty will almost certainly make a few more rehab appearances following Sunday, keeping him on track for a return in mid-July.
