  • Giants' Trevor McDonald: Returns from 7-day injured list

Double-A Richmond reinstated McDonald (groin) from its 7-day injured list Sunday.

McDonald has resided on Richmond's IL all season but is finally ready to join the Giants' Eastern League affiliate after an extended rehab assignment that first kicked off May 14. In 10 total outings between the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and High-A Eugene covering 24.1 innings, McDonald turned in a 4.44 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB.

  • Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach: Falls apart in fifth

Schwellenbach (1-4) took the loss Sunday against the Pirates, giving up four runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out seven and walked two.

He cruised through four innings before running into a buzzsaw in the fifth, courtesy of two-run homers by Oneil Cruz and Rowdy Tellez. Schwellenbach had a similar issue in his last start against the Cardinals, giving up all four of his runs in the third inning. The rookie right-hander has now given up at least four runs in half of his six career starts and has seen his ERA jump to 5.68. He's scheduled for a tough test against the Phillies next weekend.

  • Pirates' Bailey Falter: Gets fourth win

Falter (4-6) earned the win Sunday over Atlanta. He allowed one run on two hits with four walks and five strikeouts over five innings.

Falter struggled with his command Sunday as he walked a career-high four batters but still did enough to get the win. He got out of trouble with double-play grounders in the fourth and fifth innings, and he managed to snap a streak of four straight losses. Falter had been having a dismal June prior to this start (0-4 and 6.63 ERA), but he'll take a 3.87 ERA and 1.14 WHIP into his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to come against the Mets next weekend.

  • Tylor Megill SP | NYM

Mets' Tylor Megill: Officially heads to Triple-A

The Mets optioned Megill to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday,

As expected, Megill will return to the minors after he was knocked around for six earned runs over 5.1 innings in Saturday's 9-6 loss to Houston. Over his five starts in June, the right-hander turned in a 7.43 ERA and 1.74 WHIP across 23 innings. The Mets are likely to call up Christian Scott from Triple-A Syracuse later this week to replace Megill in the rotation.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Chased early in no-decision

Glasnow did not factor into the decision against the Giants on Saturday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over three innings while striking out one.

Glasnow didn't have his best stuff Saturday, allowing the leadoff man to reach in each of his three innings of work while surrendering four extra-base hits. It marked the right-hander's shortest outing of the campaign and the second time in his last four starts that he's given up five runs. Glasnow also struck out only one batter in the contest, a season low, after fanning at least nine in four straight starts coming in.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Building workload

Senzatela (elbow) threw between 30 and 35 pitches in a bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Senzatela threw his fastball and changeup during the session with the goal of building up his stamina. He is expected to be cleared to throw breaking balls in the coming days, at which time he could also begin to face live hitters.

  • Rockies' German Marquez: Struggles in rehab outing

Marquez (elbow) allowed four earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out one batter and recording just two outs Friday in a rehab outing with Triple-A Albuquerque.

After making two rehab starts in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, one at Single-A Fresno and one at High-A Spokane, Marquez made his first start with the Rockies' top affiliate Friday, though things didn't go according to plan. He threw only 33 pitches in the short outing and will now require at least another rehab appearance or two to push up his workload before he's a realistic option to return from the 60-day injured list and join the big-league rotation. Marquez looks to be tracking toward a return shortly after the All-Star break, though that could change if he shows drastic improvement in his next outing with Albuquerque.

  • Jake Irvin SP | WAS

Nationals' Jake Irvin: Registers another quality start

Irvin (6-6) earned the win over Tampa Bay on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and three walks while striking out five batters over six innings.

Irvin served up a solo homer to Brandon Lowe in the first inning, but that was the only run -- and only hit -- he allowed in the contest. The right-hander recorded his seventh quality start over his past eight outings, and he's posted an excellent 2.09 ERA and 0.93 WHIP during that span. Irvin didn't seem like he'd be a fantasy factor this year after posting a 4.61 ERA and 1.42 WHIP as a rookie last season, but he's provided strong ratios with a 3.03 ERA and 1.06 WHIP along with an 86:23 K:BB across 98 frames.

  • Paul Skenes SP | PIT

Pirates' Paul Skenes: Continues to dominate

Skenes allowed one run on six hits and two walks while striking out nine batters over six innings in a no-decision against Atlanta on Saturday.

Skenes surrendered a leadoff homer to Jarred Kelenic on his third pitch of the game, but that was the only run the talented rookie allowed. The right-handed hurler matched opposing ace Max Fried with a six-inning, six-hit, one-run line, though Skenes was more dominant with 13 whiffs and nine punchouts. Skenes has gotten stronger as he's settled into life in the big leagues. He's tossed four straight quality starts, posting a minuscule 1.07 ERA along with a 32:4 K:BB over 25.1 innings during that span.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Battles Skenes in no-decision

Fried allowed one run on six hits and three walks while striking out four batters over six innings in a no-decision against Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Fried pitched very well in the contest, matching the six-inning, six-hit, one-run line put up by rookie phenom Paul Skenes for the Pirates. The Atlanta hurler has given up exactly one run in each of his past three starts, though he was just one win in that span. While Fried's strikeout numbers are down this season -- he has just 84 punchouts over 96 innings -- he's put up his usual ace-quality ratios otherwise with a 2.91 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through 16 starts.
