Woodruff (shoulder) continued his rehab assignment Friday with Single-A Wisconsin and allowed three runs on six hits with three strikeouts and three walks over four innings, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The 32-year-old tossed 66 pitches over 3.2 frames in his first rehab outing last weekend, and he didn't significantly add to his workload Friday with 68 pitches. Still, more game action is encouraging for Woodruff, who has been sidelined since undergoing shoulder surgery in September of 2023. The right-hander will likely require at least one more start in the minors before making his season debut with Milwaukee.

The Reds placed Lodolo on the paternity leave list Friday.

He had been scheduled to start Sunday in Baltimore, but that assignment will now go to Carson Spiers. Lodolo could slot back into the Reds' rotation as soon as Monday in Miami, but the club has not yet confirmed when his next start will happen.

Spiers was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Friday and is scheduled to start Sunday's game at Baltimore, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

The 27-year-old was demoted to Louisville on April 8 but will rejoin Cincinnati for a spot start this weekend with Nick Lodolo being placed on the paternity list. Spiers made two starts for the Reds prior to being sent down and allowed five earned runs with an 8:3 K:BB across 9.1 innings.

Gore won't start as scheduled Friday at Colorado since the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Denver is experiencing some snow Friday, so an early call was made to postpone the series opener. The game will be made up via a doubleheader Sunday, with Gore likely to take the mound Saturday or during the twin bill.

Dollander will have his start pushed back after Friday's game between the Nationals and Rockies was postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sunday. Dollander will now take the ball Saturday as the Rockies readjust their rotation.

The Cubs recalled Wicks from Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Wicks' last appearance at Iowa came in relief, as he struck out five over three perfect innings. He looks to be slated for bullpen duty with the Cubs, providing some length behind Friday's starter, Colin Rea, who has yet to work more than 3.2 innings in an outing this season.

Suarez (back) will throw a bullpen session Friday, and his next minor-league rehab start is scheduled for Tuesday with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Jeff Kerr of CBS Philadelphia reports.

Manager Rob Thomson noted that the left-hander has no issues with his back but could need another rehab appearance after Tuesday, which would likely push back Suarez's return to Philadelphia's rotation until early May. He threw 54 pitches Wednesday with Single-A Clearwater, so he'll likely be targeting the 70-pitch range in his next outing in the minors. The Phillies intend to bring Suarez back as a starter, but it sounds like Taijuan Walker is poised to get at least two more turns in the rotation in the interim.

Pallante (2-1) took the loss Thursday against the Mets after allowing four runs on seven hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out two.

Each of Pallante's four runs allowed came during the second inning, when the Mets knocked him around with five hits. A whopping 12 of Pallante's 18 outs came on groundouts, so he was able to keep the New York bats in check to an extent. It was the first time through four starts this season that the right-hander surrendered more than two runs. Pallante will take a respectable 3.22 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB over 22.1 innings into his next scheduled start, which is tentatively set for next week in Atlanta.

Canning (2-1) picked up the win Thursday against the Cardinals after allowing one run on three hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out eight.

The veteran right-hander was sharp Thursday while firing six innings for the first time this season. He scattered three singles, one of which did score Victor Scott in the third inning following a stolen base and a wild pitch, but Canning appeared to be well over the illness that cost him Wednesday's scheduled start against the Twins. Canning holds a serviceable 3.43 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 21:10 K:BB over four starts (21 innings), but he could find difficulty turning in a repeat performance in a tougher matchup against the Phillies next week.

Hicks (1-2) took the loss Thursday against the Phillies, allowing five runs on six hits and four walks over seven innings. He struck out five.

It looked like it would be a short outing for Hicks, who allowed the first five Phillies to reach base in the opening frame, ultimately allowing five runs. However, the 28-year-old managed to blank Philadelphia over his subsequent six innings, allowing just one additional hit while he covered seven frames for just the second time in his big-league career. While the Giants couldn't overcome the early deficit in an eventual 6-4 defeat, it was an impressive rebound effort from Hicks. The right-hander will carry a 6.04 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 19:10 K:BB into his next start, tentatively lined up for next week against the Brewers.
