Logan Webb SP | SF
Giants' Logan Webb: Excellent month continues in win
Webb (3-1) earned the win Wednesday against the Brewers after allowing six hits and three walks in 6.1 scoreless innings. He struck out six.
Other than escaping a bases-loaded jam in the second inning, Webb didn't face very much trouble from Milwaukee. He scattered six singles and threw a season-high 106 pitches, also tossing at least six innings for the fourth time in his last five starts. The star right-hander holds a sparkling 1.80 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 33:4 K:BB over 25 frames in the month of April, but he'll encounter a tough test in his next scheduled outing on the road against the Padres.

Freddy Peralta SP | NYM
Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Throws five innings once again
Peralta (2-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Giants, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks in five-plus innings. He struck out three.
Although the right-hander yielded a season-high three runs, he tossed at least five innings in his sixth consecutive start to open the campaign. Peralta was mostly sailing until the sixth inning, when he allowed three straight baserunners to reach, with the bullpen allowed all three to come around to score. Peralta still holds a strong 2.43 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 36:11 K:BB over 33.1 innings this year, and he'll have a prime opportunity to rebound from Wednesday's showing in his next scheduled start against the White Sox.

Matthew Boyd SP | CHC
Cubs' Matthew Boyd: Survives six frames for second win
Boyd (2-2) collected his second win Wednesday against the Dodgers, giving up six runs (three earned) on 10 hits and a walk while striking out four batters across six innings.
Boyd can thank his own throwing error in the fifth inning for taking three earned runs off his final statline. He can also thank the Cubs' hitters for allowing him to collect a win by keeping up with the Dodgers' star-studded offense, which had little trouble creating traffic on the basepaths against the 34-year-old lefty. Thanks to two straight scoreless starts to begin the campaign, Boyd still carries a 2.54 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through 28.1 innings, and he's lined up to have a favorable matchup during his next start against the Pirates, who own the second-lowest OPS (.639) in the National League.

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Wednesday's start rained out
Marquez and the Rockies won't face the Royals on Wednesday, as the game was postponed due to rain.
The two teams will play two games Thursday to make up for Wednesday's contest, and Marquez will presumably toe the slab in one of them. The 30-year-old will be looking to shake off a disastrous outing during his last start against the Dodgers, which saw him surrender seven runs in just two-thirds of an inning.

Sandy Alcantara SP | MIA
Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Takes loss in quality start
Alcantara (2-2) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings as the Marlins were downed 5-2 by the Reds. He struck out four.
The quality start was the first of the season for Alcantara, who needed 102 pitches (68 strikes) to cover six innings for the first time in 2025. The 29-year-old righty is still trying to regain his form after Tommy John surgery, and he'll carry a 6.56 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 17:12 K:BB through 23.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week against the Dodgers.

Brady Singer SP | CIN
Reds' Brady Singer: Racks up fourth win
Singer (4-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-2 victory over the Marlins, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter.
The right-hander delivered his second quality start in five trips to the mound on 88 pitches (61 strikes), including 31 called or swinging strikes. Wednesday's outing was also the first this season in which Singer didn't issue a walk. He'll take a 3.62 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB through 27.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Cardinals.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Dodgers' Blake Snell: Shut down from throwing
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Snell (shoulder) experienced a setback after playing catch Tuesday and will be shut down from throwing, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Roberts said that Snell will be re-evaluated once the Dodgers return to Los Angeles on Friday, at which point more should be known about how much this latest setback will delay his return. The 32-year-old initially landed on the injured list April 6 due to shoulder inflammation and was cleared to begin throwing bullpen sessions Saturday, but it now seems unlikely that he returns from the IL anytime soon.

David Peterson SP | NYM
Mets' David Peterson: No-decision Wednesday
Peterson didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Phillies, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk across 5.1 innings. He struck out two.
The eight hits given up by Peterson marked a season high, though none went for extra bases, allowing the left-hander to mitigate the damage. Peterson's now surrendered at least seven hits in his last three outings, though he's issued just one walk in that span (16.2 innings). His ERA sits at 3.29 on the year with a 1.43 WHIP and 28:9 K:BB across five starts (27.1 innings). Peterson is currently scheduled to face the Diamondbacks at home in his next outing.

Zack Wheeler SP | PHI
Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Strikes out nine in quality start
Wheeler did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 10-inning loss to the Mets, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out nine.
Both runs against Wheeler came on Brett Baty's two-out homer in the second inning. Otherwise, the right-hander was excellent, recording his fourth quality start in six outings this year. The 34-year-old Wheeler sports a 3.62 ERA with a 1.02 WHIP and a league-leading 50 strikeouts through 37.1 innings this season. His next start currently lines up for next week against the Nationals.

Justin Steele SP | CHC
Cubs' Justin Steele: Shifts to 60-day injured list
The Cubs transferred Steele (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Steele underwent UCL surgery last week and will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025 season, so the move won't affect his timeline for a return. The transaction will instead open up a spot on the 40-man roster for lefty reliever Drew Pomeranz, whose contract was selected in a corresponding move.
