Yu Darvish SP | SD
Dodgers' Yu Darvish: Improves to 2-0 with new club
Darvish (8-9) held the Diamondbacks to two runs on five hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts over five innings in Thursday's 8-6 win.
Darvish's high strikeout total came at a price, as he needed 106 pitches just to get through five frames. Luckily for him, Los Angeles' potent offense had already built up an 8-2 lead by the time the bottom of the sixth rolled around and Arizona was never able to claw all the way back. The rental from Texas now has a 20:3 K:BB in 12 innings through two starts with his new team. Expect another hefty strikeout total when Darvish takes on a subpar White Sox lineup in his home debut Wednesday.

Zach Davies SP | WAS
Brewers' Zach Davies: Bludgeoned by singles in loss
Davies (13-6) allowed seven runs (six earned) on a season-worst 11 hits with two walks and three strikeouts over 5.2 innings in Thursday's loss to the Twins.
Davies was victimized by a lot of light contact, as 10 of the hits against him were singles with the lone exception being an Eddie Rosario double. This outing ended a stretch of four consecutive quality starts in which Davies posted a 0.94 ERA despite a 4.11 xFIP, so his luck was due to swing back the other way at some point. The 24-year-old right-hander's ability to induce groundballs at a 48.4 percent rate has allowed him to find success despite a paltry 5.98 K/9, so expect him to bounce back in his next start Wednesday against the Pirates.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Expected to make next start
DeGrom (triceps) expects to make his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Yankees, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
The Mets ace was forced from Thursday's game after being struck on his pitching arm by a hard-hit comebacker. DeGrom was sent for further testing, which revealed only a triceps contusion rather than anything more serious in nature. He finished the night with a win, delivering 6.2 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts on 100 pitches.

Lance Lynn SP | STL
Cardinals' Lance Lynn: Walks five in no-decision
Lynn allowed three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and five walks while striking out just three batters through six innings during Thursday's win over Kansas City. He didn't factor into the decision.
Lynn entered Thursday's outing with a standout 1.85 ERA and 0.99 WHIP through his previous eight starts, so while he didn't surrender much damage, this was far from an impressive start. Additionally, it's definitely worth noting that his .226 BABIP is unsustainably low, and his 3.12 ERA will probably begin moving closer to his 4.83 FIP going forward. It's probably won't be a crippling fantasy decline, though. Lynn projects to make his next start against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Status unclear for next start
Velasquez (finger) will be sent for further testing Friday and it's unclear whether he'll be able to make his next scheduled start, Stephen Gross of The Morning Call reports.
The right-hander struggled through his lone inning of work Thursday, allowing three earned runs over 32 pitches. Velasquez had a noted dip in velocity during the outing as his fastball was not coming close to his usual 94 mile-per-hour heat. He'll be sent for further testing Friday, at which point there figures to be more clarity on his status.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Suffers right triceps contusion Thursday
DeGrom was diagnosed with a right triceps contusion Thursday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
It appears that deGrom avoided anything serious after being hit by a comebacker during Thursday's outing, which forced him from the game. Still, the fact that the injury is on his pitching arm puts his status for his next start in question.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Leaves after being hit by line drive
DeGrom exited Thursday's start against the Phillies after being struck on the side by a comebacker, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
The Mets' ace had been cruising prior to his exit Thursday, fanning nine batters without a single walk over 6.2 scoreless innings. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com deGrom was hit by a 99 mile-per-hour line drive off the bat of Philadelphia's Nick Williams. Whether this will affect deGrom's availability for his next start remains to be seen, but there figures to be more updates on his status before the weekend.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Leaves due to finger numbness Thursday
Velasquez exited Thursday's start with numbness in his right middle finger, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander had a noted dip in velocity during his lone inning of work Thursday, topping out at 92 miles per hour after averaging 94 miles per hour on his heater for the season. It's still too early to determine whether Velasquez's finger numbness will affect his availability for his next start. However, this is still concerning for a pitcher that has had arm issues throughout the season, so owners will want to monitor Velasquez closely in the coming days.

Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Removed after one inning Thursday amid dip in velocity
Velasquez was removed from Thursday's outing against the Mets after just one inning, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. He allowed a three-run home run and his fastball reportedly topped out at 92 miles per hour.
The three earned runs aside, Velasquez's dip in velocity is the most concerning development Thursday. Velasquez had a notable dip in velocity earlier in the season and was found to have a flexor strain that kept him out nearly two months. There's no word yet on the cause of Velasquez's lack of velocity Thursday, but there figures to be an update before the weekend. Mark Leiter Jr. came on to relieve Velasquez in the second inning.

Robbie Ray SP | SD
Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Could throw simulated game Saturday
Ray (concussion) could throw a simulated game over the weekend if he feels good again Friday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
Ray has been steadily progressing in his rehab, and if things continue to go smoothly, he will face live hitters for the first time since landing on the 7-day DL. Manager Torey Lovullo has said that he "feels strongly" that Ray will require a minor-league rehab start before rejoining the big-league rotation, Jack Magruder of FanRagSports.com reports, but there should be a clearer idea about that following his Saturday session. In the meantime, Anthony Banda is set to take his turn in the rotation Thursday against the Dodgers, and would continue to fill in for Ray should the 25-year-old require a minor-league tune-up.
