  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Records falls to 10-10

Martinez (10-10) allowed six runs -- just three earned -- on 10 hits while striking out seven batters through 5.2 innings during Wednesday's loss to Milwaukee.

Martinez has now allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his past six outings and sports a 3.52 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 9.4 K/9 for the campaign. Those are solid numbers in all fantasy settings, and it's been especially beneficial to owners that he hasn't missed a start all season. Martinez projects to face the Padres at Petco Park in his next start.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Will make major-league debut Friday

Flaherty will make his big-league debut against the Giants on Friday, MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch reports.

With the departure of Mike Leake via a trade to Seattle on Wednesday, Flaherty will take his place and start against the Giants on Friday. During 15 outings with Triple-A Memphis this season, Flaherty has posted a 2.74 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with a 85:24 K:BB in 85.1 innings. The right-hander is a top-five prospect in the Cardinals' system, and may continue to earn starts throughout the rest of the 2017 season, especially if Adam Wainwright (elbow) cannot seem to regain full health. Over Flaherty's five August appearances, the 21-year-old has allowed just seven earned runs in 31 innings, and compiled a 4-1 record with 29 strikeouts.

  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Removed with nerve irritation

Eickhoff was lifted in the third inning during Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Braves due to nerve irritation in his right hand, Ryan Lawrence of The Philly Voice reports.

Eickhoff should be considered day-to-day and will be evaluated by team doctors within the next couple days in order to determine whether the right-hander can make his next start, which is projected for Tuesday against the Mets. During Wednesday's game, Eickhoff lasted into the third inning on 44 pitches, but gave up six earned runs on six hits and one walk while recording just six outs. Following this outing, his ERA now sits at 4.71 for the year and Eickhoff's record falls to 4-8.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Ready for GCL appearance

Syndergaard (lat) will throw one inning for the Gulf Coast League Mets on Saturday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.

With another successful live BP session under his belt, Syndergaard is now ready to return to a competitive setting in the GCL. The fourth-place Mets have no reason to rush Syndergaard back to a starting role; they figure to keep him shortened up and get him re-acclimated with a couple relief appearances before the season concludes. The 25-year-old has been out since late April with a partial lat tear.

  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Dealing with tingling sensation in arm

Eickhoff was removed from Wednesday's game after feeling a "tingling sensation" in his pitching arm," according to manager Pete Mackanin, Matt Gelb of The Philly Inquirer reports.

Eickhoff exited with a trainer in the top of the third inning after clearly lacking any heat on his fastball. The right-hander will see a team doctor following Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader, while more information should become apparent before the end of the day.

  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Exits Wednesday's game

Eickhoff was removed from Wednesday's contest against the Braves with a trainer in the third inning after an apparent drop in velocity, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Although it wasn't obvious as to what was plaguing Eickhoff, the fact that he left with a trainer, and experienced a dip in velocity, is concerning to say the least. Over the course of the season, the right-hander has been losing heat on his fastball, as it had dropped from 91 mph in April/May, to below 90 in August, while averaging about 88 during Wednesday's brief time on the mound, per The Morning Call's Stephen Gross. Jesen Therrien entered the game in his place, while further updates regarding Eickhoff's condition are sure to appear before the end of the game. During two-plus innings on the rubber against the Braves, Eickhoff gave up five runs on six hits.

  • Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Will return to Brewers on Saturday

Woodruff will head back to the majors this weekend to make Saturday's start against Washington.

Woodruff is set to return to the rotation after being optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Aug. 20. During his three starts with Milwaukee this year, Woodruff has given up just three earned runs off 15 hits and eight walks in 16.2 innings. Since the club didn't need a fifth starter until this upcoming weekend, the right-hander stayed fresh with Colorado Springs, tossing two shutout innings Thursday against New Orleans and completed a simulated game Monday. Moving forward, it seems as though Woodruff will be deployed as Milwaukee's No. 5 starter for the rest of the season.

  • Vance Worley SP | NYM

Marlins' Vance Worley: Roughed up by Nats on Tuesday

Worley (2-4) took the loss against the Nationals on Tuesday, coughing up five runs on nine hits and three walks over 4.1 innings while striking out two.

The right-hander now has a brutal 9.17 ERA, 2.15 WHIP and 8:9 K:BB over his last four starts. If Worley remains in the rotation after rosters expand in September, he would next take the mound Sunday at home against the Phillies.

  • Braves' Touki Toussaint: Headed to AFL in offseason

Toussaint will be one of eight Braves prospects to take part in the Arizona Fall League this year, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

A 19-year-old phenom, Ronald Acuna, headlines the group, but Toussiant -- the Braves' No. 9 fantasy prospect -- has taken a big step forward in his own development this season, showing hints of improved control and posting a 10.5 K.9 and 3.6 BB/9 in 105.1 High-A innings before a promotion to Double-A in late July. The young right-hander will need to continue honing his command if he wants to remain on track as a starter, but even if he can't curb the walks he could still eventually make an impact in the majors as a high-leverage reliever.

  • Rockies' German Marquez: Fans 10 in Tuesday's no-decision

Marquez gave up three runs on seven hits and a walk over 6.1 innings Tuesday while striking out 10 but came away with a no-decision in a 7-3 win over the Tigers.

The strikeouts tied his career high, which he set exactly a month ago in a win over the Nats. Marquez now has seven quality starts in nine second-half outings, producing a 3.93 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 58:15 K:BB in 55 innings over that stretch and making him a viable fantasy option even when taking the mound at Coors Field.
