Zach Davies SP | WAS
Brewers' Zach Davies: Out of sync against Reds
Davies allowed three runs on six hits and two walks over four-plus innings in Tuesday's win over the Reds. He did not record a strikeout nor did he factor into the decision.
Davies clearly didn't have his best stuff working for him Tuesday, as he had trouble locating his pitches and was frequently squared up in his four-plus innings of work. He was sitting at 66 pitches after allowing the first two hitters of the fourth inning to reach base when manager Craig Counsell gave him the hook with Joey Votto at the plate. His struggles may be partially attributed to the fact that he was apparently dealing with a nasty head cold, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Davies has now alternated good and bad starts over his past four outings and will look to close out his regular season on a high note in the upcoming series against the Cardinals.

Deck McGuire SP | TOR
Reds' Deck McGuire: Hit hard in first MLB start
McGuire (0-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Brewers. He allowed six runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out five over three innings.
McGuire displayed some early jitters in his first big-league start, giving up four runs in the opening frame on a walk and four hits, including a three-run home run off the bat of Domingo Santana. Two more runs came across in the third inning on a costly Scooter Gennett throwing error before McGuire was pulled for a pinch hitter in the top of the fourth. He'll get an opportunity to end his season on a positive note in his upcoming scheduled start against the Cubs on Sunday.

Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: To throw important bullpen session Tuesday
Ryu (forearm) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
The results of Ryu's bullpen session will determine if he's healthy enough to make a start this Friday or Sunday against the Rockies at Coors Field. His availability for this weekend's series is still very much up in the air at the moment, but those details should be ironed out following his throwing session.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Facing abbreviated start Saturday
Manager Dave Roberts announced Tuesday that Kershaw will be on a pitch limit in his upcoming Saturday start against the Rockies, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Though Kershaw isn't dealing with any sort of injury, the Dodgers will still tread cautiously with their ace during his final start of the season. It's unclear how brief his outing will be, but season-long fantasy owners should still feel confident inserting Kershaw into their starting lineups. His DFS appeal is obviously capped by his potential short outing, however.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: Evens record at 8-8
Cueto (8-8) picked up the win Monday after firing six innings of two-run ball with five hits, two walks and eight strikeouts in a 9-2 victory over the Diamondbacks.
Cueto wasn't a lock for a strong outing against a potent Arizona lineup following his up-and-down 2017 campaign, but he proved to be up to the task and rewarded fantasy owners with his second consecutive quality start. The 31-year-old appears to have regained his dominant stuff, striking out 29 batters over his last four outings (21.2 innings). Cueto will look to finish his season on a strong note in a favorable matchup against the Padres on Sunday.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Set for one more appearance
Syndergaard is set to throw one inning in a game either Saturday or Sunday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
Syndergaard emerged from his first outing in nearly five months Saturday without issue, and as long as he does the same following a Wednesday bullpen session, he will get up on the mound one more time this season for the Mets.

Tommy Milone SP | SEA
Mets' Tommy Milone: Feeling soreness in elbow
Milone is dealing with elbow discomfort, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
Milone underwent an MRI Tuesday so doctors could get a closer look at his injury, but the results of the exam have not been released. Milone will be examined again Thursday.

Zack Greinke SP | KC
Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: In line for Friday start
Greinke, who was previously listed as the Diamondbacks' starter for Wednesday's game against the Giants, will instead make his final start of the regular season Friday against the Royals, Jody Jackson of FOX Sports Arizona reports.
Manager Torey Lovullo's decision to move Greinke back in the rotation will give the right-hander six days of rest heading into the Friday outing, but keep him on his normal four days of rest before he takes the hill Oct. 4 in the Diamondbacks' wild-card matchup with the Rockies, Brewers or Cardinals. It's expected that Jeff Mathis (hand), who had served as Greinke's personal catcher before landing on the 10-day disabled list in August, will be activated over the weekend and be behind the plate for that wild-card contest. Lovullo has declined to name a starter for Wednesday's game following the choice to move Greinke's turn back a couple of days.

Adam Wainwright SP | STL
Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Could be shut down for season
Wainwright experienced decreased velocity while making his first relief appearance of the season Saturday against the Pirates and may not pitch again this season, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Wainwright previously saw his velocity tail off while he was still starting in August and was later diagnosed with a right elbow impingement, resulting in his placement on the 10-day disabled list. The Cardinals will wait and see how he responds to a few days of rest before rendering a verdict on Wainwright's status for the remainder of the season, but even if he's cleared to pitch again, he likely won't be turned to in higher-leverage scenarios. Wainwright hasn't ruled out undergoing a surgical procedure in the offseason to trim cartilage off his elbow, but that likely wouldn't affect his availability for the beginning of spring training.

Odrisamer Despaigne SP | MIA
Marlins' Odrisamer Despaigne: Earns first victory of 2017
Despaigne (1-3) allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out three batters through six innings to earn the win against Colorado on Monday.
This was a solid showing from Despainge considering it was at Coors Field and also was just his eighth start of the season. He sports an underwhelming 4.21 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 4.4 K/9 for the campaign, and that lack of strikeouts really caps his upside. Despaigne checks out as a high-risk, modest-reward fantasy option for his final projected start against Atlanta at Marlins Park.
