  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Will start Sunday

Fried will start Sunday's game against the Marlins, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

R.A. Dickey apparently passed on the option to start the Braves' season finale, so Fried will get the ball instead. The 23-year-old owns a respectable 3.21 ERA in 14 innings as a big-league starter this season, but his 4.39 xFIP suggests he may be due for some negative regression.

  • Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Ends season with disastrous start

Woodruff was ripped for six runs on six hits and a walk over 2.1 innings in a 6-0 loss to the Brewers on Wednesday. He didn't record a strikeout while taking the loss to move to 2-3 on the season.

After showing great promise in his first several starts, Woodruff limped to the finish line, giving up 19 earned runs over his final 19.1 innings of 2017. He wasn't able to carry forward the success he had missing bats in Double-A and Triple-A to the majors, but Woodruff showed enough to put himself into strong consideration for a rotation spot next year. The 24-year-old righty finishes the season with a 4.81 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 32:14 K:BB over 43 innings spanning eight MLB starts.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Whiffs 10, shuts down Padres

Hill (12-8) held the Padres scoreless on two hits and two walks while striking out 10 over seven innings to pick up his third straight win Wednesday.

So ends a relatively typical regular season for Hill -- effective, but shortened by injury, though this season's 135.2 innings represent his biggest workload since 2007. The 37-year-old lefty's 3.32 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 166:49 K:BB are all high-end marks, and they've made him indispensable when healthy. He'll now go to work trying to help the Dodgers make a deep playoff run.

  • Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Takes tough loss Wednesday

Wacha (12-9) took the loss against the Cubs on Wednesday, giving up five runs on seven hits and a walk over six-plus innings while striking out eight.

He held the Cubs scoreless through six innings, but the wheels came off in a hurry in the seventh as Wacha allowed the first six batters he faced in the frame to reach base before hitting the showers. The 26-year-old will finish the year with a 4.13 ERA, a marked improvement on 2016 but still a far cry from the 3.38 mark he posted the year before.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Slated to pitch Sunday

Syndergaard is expected to make his final appearance of the season Sunday against the Phillies, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.

Syndergaard apparently got through his scheduled bullpen session Wednesday without a hitch, clearing the way for him to make his final start of the season. He tossed a scoreless inning Saturday against the Nationals in what was his first start since late April due to a lat issue, and he's slated for another one-inning appearance before closing the books on his 2017 campaign. While this season hasn't been what fantasy owners had hoped for out of Thor, a healthy outing to wrap up the year should erase any concerns heading into the offseason.

  • Jon Gray SP | TEX

Rockies' Jon Gray: Collects 10th win Wednesday

Gray (10-4) allowed three runs on six hits while striking out five batters through six innings to take the win against Miami on Wednesday.

Gray has now won four of his past five starts and has worked himself down to a 3.67 ERA and 1.30 WHIP for the campaign. Alongside his 9.1 K/9, Gray has turned in a solid campaign considering he missed approximately a month and a half with a foot injury and calls Coors Field home. Pitching in a hitter-friendly home park will always cap his fantasy upside, but Gray's strong stretch to finish the regular season has showcased why he was the third overall selection in the 2013 Amateur Draft.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Dodgers' Yu Darvish: Won't start Sunday

Darvish will not make another start before the end of the regular season, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.

Darvish was originally expected to make his final start of the regular season Sunday, but the Dodgers will instead turn the game over to their bullpen. The 31-year-old, who owns a 3.44 ERA and 61:13 K:BB through nine starts with the Dodgers, will now use simulated outings to stay sharp for his next start, which will come in the playoffs. He's lined up to start Game 3 of the NLDS on Oct. 9.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Could start Sunday

Fried could start Sunday's game in Miami, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Manager Brian Snitker said R.A. Dickey would start Sunday if he wants the ball, but Fried would be the fallback option if the veteran knuckleballer is content not pitching again. It's hard to judge Fried based on his success or failures in the big leagues this year, as he skipped High-A completely to start the season, logged 86.2 innings at Double-A and then pitched just six innings at Triple-A before being promoted to the majors. This quick ascension has to do with the fact that Fried is on the 40-man roster, and the Braves want to see what he's capable of before their premier pitching prospects are all ready for The Show in the coming years. Fried has a 3.21 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and nine strikeouts in 14 innings as a big-league starter this year, but he appears to be due for negative regression (4.39 xFIP).

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Heads to bullpen

Corbin will be available out of the bullpen this weekend in Kansas City.

Zack Greinke, Taijuan Walker and Robbie Ray will start this weekend as Corbin gets acclimated to a bullpen role in preparation for the postseason. Corbin has endured a couple rough starts lately, but he went on a great run in July and August, reestablishing himself as a viable major-league starter after a disastrous 2016 season.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SD

Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Slated for shorter outing Sunday

Manager Torey Lovullo said Ray's start Sunday will "probably [be] a shorter outing," Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

The Diamondbacks want to keep Ray on his normal schedule, but they also want all hands on deck for next week's wild-card game, which will be started by Zack Greinke. If the team advances to the NLDS, Ray could start Game 1 of that series.
