  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Starts Friday against Mets

Alcantara will make his debut with the Marlins against the Mets on Friday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Though Alcantara has yet to be officially recalled by the team, he is listed as Friday's starting pitcher following another impressive showing with Triple-A New Orleans this past weekend. During eight appearances with the Cardinals last year, he logged a 4.32 ERA and 1.80 WHIP, but this will mark his first start at the major-league level.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Cubs' Yu Darvish: Receives second opinion

Darvish (triceps) traveled to Texas on Friday to meet with his orthopedic doctor for a second opinion, Bruce Levine of 670thescore.com reports.

Darvish experienced pain during Thursday's bullpen session and was expected to be reevaluated by team doctors in Chicago this weekend, but the right-hander met with Dr. Keith Meister -- who he worked with while on the Rangers -- in order to get a read on the situation. Expect an update on his status once word on his check-up is revealed.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Brewers' Wade Miley: Makes second rehab start

Miley (oblique) allowed five earned runs over 3.1 innings in a rehab start with Double-A Biloxi on Thursday.

Thursday's results weren't pretty for Miley, but he was able to up his pitch count to 47 after making 31 tosses his first time out. Miley is expected to make at least two more rehab starts before the Brewers decide his next step. He is eligible to come off the disabled list July 9, but the Brewers will not be forced to activate him until July 21, so they could wait until after the All-Star break to bring him back.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Earns 10th win

Nola (10-2) allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out eight across 7.2 innings to earn the win Thursday against the Nationals.

Nola tuned in a workhorse effort and earned his 10th win Thursday, throwing 114 pitches while limiting the Nationals to just one extra-base hit. After allowing three baserunners in his first 1.1 innings of work, he sat down 11 consecutive Nationals spanning from the second inning to the fifth. With the win, Nola became the third pitcher in the National League -- joining Max Scherzer and Jon Lester -- to reach the 10-win mark. He also ranks among the league leaders in innings pitched, strikeouts, ERA and WHIP.

  • Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Allows four earned runs

DeSclafani allowed four earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six across 6.1 innings Thursday against the Brewers. He did not factor into the decision.

DeSclafani pitched fairly well, with the main blemish of his line being a two-run home run by Jesus Aguilar. Otherwise, he did not allow an extra-base hit, and his two other earned runs came from Amir Garrett's failure to strand inherited runners. While DeSclafani's 4.45 ERA and 1.27 WHIP aren't particularly inspiring, he has has now completed 6.1 innings in each of his past two starts as he continues to work back from an oblique injury that cost him the first two months of his season. To improve those ratio stats, he'll need to limit the long ball, as he has allowed 1.9 HR/9 in 28.1 innings this season.

  • Jon Gray SP | TEX

Rockies' Jon Gray: Coughs up five runs in no-decision

Gray struck out seven and allowed five runs on seven hits while walking two and surrendering a home run in Thursday's win over the Giants. He did not factor in the decision.

After allowing just one run in his last outing, Gray got rocked once again. His season ERA spiked to 5.77 in 92 innings, but he has 119 strikeouts as well. He's allowed three or more runs in eight of his last nine outings. Gray will get another shot at the Giants next Tuesday.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Cubs' Jose Quintana: Shaky in no-decision

Quintana threw 5.1 innings Thursday, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks in an 11-5 win over the Dodgers. He struck out four and allowed a home run.

This start was pretty indicative of Quintana's June; it was his fourth consecutive start allowing at least two runs, striking out four or fewer, and pitching six innings or less. The 29-year-old lefty owns a 4.31 ERA in 85.2 innings alongside an 80:40 K:BB. Quintana is on track to take the mound at home Wednesday against Detroit for his next scheduled start.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Hammered in return from DL

Buehler (4-2) allowed five runs in just one-plus inning of work, yielding five hits -- including a home run -- and a walk in Thursday's 11-5 loss to the Cubs.

Buehler was also dinged with the blown save in his first relief appearance of 2018. The 23-year-old rookie was on the DL for nearly three weeks with a rib injury and came out of the bullpen in lieu of making a rehab start in the minors. This obviously didn't go according to plan, but Buehler had a terrific 2.63 ERA prior to his DL stint. For now, it's unclear when he'll get his next start, as the Dodgers' rotation has become healthy again.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Strikes out six in no-decision

Kershaw tossed five innings Thursday, striking out six while yielding one run on four hits in an 11-5 loss to the Cubs.

Kershaw left the game with the lead, but the Dodgers' bullpen allowed 10 runs over the final four frames. The 30-year-old lefty has allowed three runs with a 10:1 K:BB in eight innings since his return from the DL. He should gradually go deeper into games as he gets his endurance built back up. Kershaw will get a solid home matchup against the Pirates on Tuesday for his next start.

  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Picks up eighth win

Greinke (8-5) picked up the win Thursday with seven scoreless innings against the Marlins. He fanned six batters without issuing a single walk.

The veteran's command was dialed in as Greinke threw 73 of his 103 pitches for strikes. His zero-walk performance was his sixth such outing in 17 starts this season. Greinke's 1.11 WHIP entering Thursday was among the best for qualified NL starters and he remains an excellent option to help in both ratio categories. He's lined up to face St. Louis on Tuesday for his next scheduled start.
