Giants' Johnny Cueto: Could be ready to return
Cueto (elbow) came out of his rehab start Friday feeling fine and may not need another one, Jack Magruder of The Sports Xchange reports.
Cueto tossed four scoreless innings for Triple-A Sacramento, striking out six while walking one, hitting one and allowing four hits. He's expected to throw a bullpen session Monday, at which point the Giants will decide whether his next start will be of the rehab or major-league variety.

Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Tosses another bullpen session
Strasburg (shoulder) tossed another bullpen session Saturday, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Postrce reports.
The session was reportedly more intense than the one he threw Thursday. He's expected to need at least one more before taking the next step in his rehab.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Suffers forearm contusion
Velasquez was diagnosed with a right forearm contusion after getting hit by a line drive off the bat of Adam Eaton in Saturday's game against the Nationals, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic Philadelphia reports.
Velasquez was forced to leave the game but not before making an impressive play to throw out Eaton with his left arm. It's good news that the injury isn't being described as a fracture, though it's certainly possible that Velasquez could be forced to miss a few starts if the contusion is bad enough. The seriousness of the issue should become clear in the coming days.

Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Exits after comebacker strikes arm
Velasquez left his Saturday start against the Nationals after being hit on his right (pitching) arm by a line drive, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic Philadelphia reports.
The right-hander made an impressive throw with his left arm to retire Adam Eaton at first base after the comebacker struck him, but his day is over after logging two innings, striking out three and giving up one run on three hits and a walk. Victor Arano took his spot on the mound. Expect the Phillies to provide an update on Velasquez in the postgame news conference or Sunday.

Antonio Senzatela RP | MIL
Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Expects to start Tuesday
Senzatela is expected to be called up to start Tuesday against the Giants, Nick Groke of The Athletic Denver reports.
The Rockies will need at least a spot starter after Jon Gray was optioned Saturday. Senzatela has pitched 17.1 innings for the Rockies this season, all in relief. He has a disappointing 6.23 ERA, though his 4.18 FIP is adequate enough.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Optioned to Triple-A
Gray was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.
The move comes as something of a shock, as Gray was supposed to be the Rockies' ace. On the surface, there appears to be some logic to the decision, as Gray's ERA stands at an ugly 5.77 on the year. The underlying numbers don't support the notion that Gray is struggling though, as he's posted an excellent 28.9 percent strikeout rate and a solid 7.0 percent walk rate. His FIP is 3.07 while his xFIP is a stellar 2.77. His high ERA is attributable in part to an inflated .386 BABIP and a low 63.1 percent strand rate. The Rockies, however, were unwilling to let regression take its course, though it would hardly be surprising to see Gray up and successful again later in the year. Raimel Tapia was promoted in a corresponding move.

Zach Davies SP | WAS
Brewers' Zach Davies: Suffers setback in rehab start
Davies' (shoulder) rehab start Friday for Low-A Wisconsin was cut short due to a lower-back issue, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
He exited the start after 48 pitches, well short of the 80 pitches or seven innings the Brewers had planned for Davies to achieve in what could have been his final rehab start before rejoining the big-league rotation. After this setback, Davies is now without a clear timetable to resume his rehab assignment. This means Brent Suter and Freddy Peralta will stick in the big-league rotation for now.

Jacob Nix SP | SD
Padres' Jacob Nix: Placed on 7-day DL
Nix was placed on Double-A San Antonio's 7-day disabled list Friday due to an undisclosed non-physical ailment, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Nix isn't expected to miss much more than a start or two due to the issue. The 22-year-old has been stellar through his first five appearances with San Antonio this season, posting a 1.27 ERA and 0.71 WHIP across 28.1 innings.

Ben Meyer SP | MIA
Marlins' Ben Meyer: Optioned to Triple-A
Meyer was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Saturday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
He managed a 3.38 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and three strikeouts in eight innings (four appearances) with the big-league club. Meyer was sent down to make room for Saturday's starter, Pablo Lopez, who is making his big-league debut.
