Miles Mikolas RP | WAS
Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Earns win No. 15
Mikolas (15-4) allowed one run on five hits in a win over the Pirates on Tuesday, striking out seven and walking one in seven innings.
Mikolas surrendered just one extra-base hit and threw 75 of 107 pitches for strikes on the way to his 15th win and 18th quality start this season. Mikolas is now tied with Jon Lester for third in the NL in wins and ranks sixth in the league with a 2.99 ERA. The right-hander doesn't feature preeminent strikeout stuff (6.3 K/9) but rather makes his living by limiting walks and home runs, as he's allowed just 28 walks and 14 home runs in 180.2 innings this year. His next start will be a matchup with the Dodgers at home.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Strikes out eight in loss
Musgrove (6-9) struck out eight and walked two in a loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday, allowing four runs on four hits in six innings.
Musgrove pitched decently but was outmatched by Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas, who shut down the Pirates through seven innings. In 18 starts this season Musgrove has proven to be rather hit-or-miss, as he's amassed 10 quality starts but has gone 0-6 with a 7.29 ERA in the other eight starts. He now carries a 3.87 ERA and a 96:23 K:BB in 109.1 innings on the year and will take on the Royals at home in his next start.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cubs' Jose Quintana: Cruises to win No. 13
Quintana (13-9) tossed 6.2 scoreless innings to record the win Tuesday against the Brewers. He allowed three hits and two walks while striking out seven.
Quintana continued his good run of late, as he's now allowed two earned runs or fewer in five straight starts. During that span, the lefty is 3-0 with a 1.84 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 29.1 innings, as he's looking like the pitcher the Cubs thought they were getting when they swung a trade with the White Sox last year that included top prospect Eloy Jimenez. Quintana will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Reds.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Cleared to start Friday
Syndergaard (ribs) is scheduled to make his next start Friday against the Red Sox, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
Syndergaard had an injury scare when he was hit in the ribs with a line drive in his last start Saturday against the Phillies, resulting in him being pulled from the outing after tossing 6.2 innings. It appears his removal was mostly precautionary, as X-rays conducted afterward revealed no structural damage to Syndergaard's ribs. With five full days to rest up and recover, Syndergaard isn't expected to face any restrictions with his pitch count as he takes the hill Friday for the 22nd time this season.

Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Takes second straight loss
Ryu (4-3) was handed the loss in Tuesday's game against the Reds, allowing three runs on eight hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out six.
Ryu gave up solo home runs to Brandon Dixon and Scott Schebler, but the Dodgers offense remained quiet throughout the game and thus Ryu was saddled with the loss. The 31-year-old has allowed 15 runs (10 earned) over 33.2 innings (2.71 ERA) since coming off the disabled list in mid-August, and is next set to take the mound Monday against the Rockies.
-
Luis Castillo SP | CHW
Reds' Luis Castillo: Strikes out nine in victory
Castillo (9-12) earned the win against the Dodgers on Tuesday, allowing one run on four hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out nine and walked only one.
The only blemish for Castillo was Joc Pederson's solo home run during the sixth inning, and the right hander has now allowed only three earned runs in his three starts this month. The 25-year-old has a 4.66 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 158 strikeouts over 154.2 innings, and is next set to take the mound Monday at Milwaukee.

Jesus Reyes SP | NYM
Reds' Jesus Reyes: Brought back to majors
Reyes was recalled from Double-A Pensacola on Tuesday.
Reyes will get his feet wet in the majors down the stretch following the end of the Double-A season. The 25-year-old split time between Pensacola and Triple-A Louisville, posting a combined 4.17 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 62:36 K:BB across 77.2 innings (38 appearances, six starts). Reyes made his big-league debut for the Reds earlier in the year, firing two scoreless innings.
-
Zack Wheeler SP | PHI
Mets' Zack Wheeler: Slated to start Game 1 of doubleheader Wednesday
Wheeler (chest) is scheduled to start Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Marlins.
Wheeler took a Justin Turner liner off his chest in his last start, but tests came back negative and he won't be forced to miss a turn through the rotation. The 28-year-old has been locked in during the second half of the season, posting an impressive 1.50 ERA and 62:12 K:BB across nine starts (60 innings).

Ranger Suarez SP | BOS
Phillies' Ranger Suarez: Called up as bullpen depth
Suarez was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.
Suarez will be one of 15 bullpen arms down the stretch for the Phillies, so opportunities will likely be limited. He's allowed 12 runs (eight earned) in nine innings at the big-league level so far this season, though his 2.75 ERA in 21 starts split between Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley is cause for some optimism.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Brewers' Wade Miley: Allows two runs in win over Cubs
Miley (4-2) allowed two runs on four hits and three walks across five innings Monday to earn the win over the Cubs. He recorded one strikeout.
Miley faced a steady stream of baserunners as he issued multiple walks for the first time in over a month, but 11 groundball outs helped him limit the damage. He allowed runs in the first and fifth innings before exiting the game and watched as the bullpen put in a strong effort to preserve his fourth win. Miley showed a bit of the wildness that's plagued him at times throughout his career, but he's kept those issues in check this season and still holds a solid 1.19 WHIP to go along with his sparkling 2.23 ERA. The left-hander will next take the ball this weekend against the Pirates.
