  • Zach Eflin SP | BAL

Phillies' Zach Eflin: Ugly loss Saturday

Eflin (2-1) took the loss against the Marlins on Saturday by allowing six runs on 10 hits across four innings. He had four strikeouts and did not issue a walk.

Eflin was fantastic during his first two starts with only one run given up over 12 innings, but he served up three homers during the third inning Saturday. The 25-year-old will look for a rebound performance Thursday when he takes the mound at Colorado.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Takes third loss

Hendricks (0-3) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits with two strikeouts and a walk across five innings in a loss to the Angels on Saturday.

The 29-year-old looked sharper Saturday, but he still hasn't gone deep in a game, and unearned runs are hurting him. Through three starts, Hendricks has yielded six unearned runs. He hasn't received a lot of run support either. Hendricks is 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA, 2.18 WHIP and 10 strikeouts in 13.1 innings. His next scheduled start is against the Diamondbacks at home on Friday.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Exits with blister

Freeland, who gave up three runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out five in five innings Saturday against the Giants, exited the start with a blister on his finger, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

He was probably pretty close to getting pulled from this one anyway, but since he was at just 76 pitches (48 strikes), the Rockies probably would have sent him out for the sixth inning if he were fully healthy. Blisters are fickle, and he should be deemed questionable to make next week's start against the Phillies. Considering that start would be at Coors Field, the easy move would be to plan on sitting him in weekly leagues.

  • Braves' Touki Toussaint: Back in big leagues

Toussaint was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

Toussaint lost out on an Opening Day roster spot but is back up already despite a 1:4 K:BB in three Triple-A innings. He'll take Kyle Wright's roster spot, but he may not be taking his rotation spot, as Mike Foltynewicz (elbow) is expected to return before a fifth starter is needed.

  • Kyle Wright SP | CHC

Braves' Kyle Wright: Sent to Triple-A

Wright was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

Wright earned an Opening Day rotation spot but didn't do much with it. In three starts, he recorded a 7.07 ERA with an 11:10 K:BB. He still has plenty of potential, but the Braves have a deep stable of pitching prospects to call on, so they have little reason to stick with one who is currently struggling. One of those prospects, Touki Toussaint, was called up to take his roster spot but may be headed to the bullpen.

  • Corbin Burnes SP | ARI

Brewers' Corbin Burnes: Serves up three homers

Burnes gave up five runs on nine hits -- including three home runs -- over 4.1 innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Friday night. He struck out three and walked two.

Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger and Joc Pederson all went yard against Burnes, who has now given up three homers in three consecutive starts, matching the major-league record. Burnes' fastball has been getting absolutely clobbered this season, to the tune of a .429 average and .952 slugging percentage, according to BrooksBaseball.net. Manager Craig Counsell told Adam McCalvy of MLB.com after the game that Burnes will start again in five days (home against the Cardinals), but Burnes is clearly on shaky ground in the starting rotation.

  • Julio Urias SP | LAD

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Knocked around for five earned

Urias (0-1) was charged with six runs (five earned) on six hits over five innings in a loss to the Brewers on Friday night. He struck out four and walked one.

The lefty needed 31 pitches to get through the first inning and gave up a pair of homers in subsequent frames, including one to former teammate Yasmani Grandal. Urias has now given up eight runs over 8.2 innings in his last two starts since making his layup against the Giants in his first outing of the season. The expectation is that Urias will head to the bullpen in the near future, potentially as soon as next weekend after a rematch against these same Brewers, if one of Hyun-Jin Ryu (groin) or Rich Hill (knee) proves ready for the next turn through.

  • Chris Paddack RP | TEX

Padres' Chris Paddack: Sharp in no-decision

Paddack didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 2-1 win over the Diamondbacks, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over 5.1 innings while striking out five.

The rookie was in attack mode from the jump, throwing 66 of 88 pitches for strikes and starting 17 of 20 batters with first-pitch strikes, but he still got the hook before recording his first quality start. Paddack will take a sparkling 1.29 ERA and 16:6 K:BB through 14 innings into his next outing, at home Thursday against the Reds.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Fans 11 in no-decision

Corbin struck out 11 while allowing one run on four hits and a walk across seven innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Friday.

The Nationals bullpen blew this one in the eighth, and while Washington battled back to tie it, the bullpen gave up a three-run homer in the 10th. Corbin looked great again, though, inducing 18 swinging strikes, and he has 20 strikeouts in his last 13 innings. Corbin still doesn't have a decision but owns a 2.84 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 24 strikeouts in three starts. His next outing should come against the Giants.

  • Pirates' Trevor Williams: Pitches well in another no-decision

Williams allowed two runs on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks across 6.1 innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Friday.

The 26-year-old pitched another strong game, but left with a one-run deficit. The Pirates actually took the lead in the eighths, getting Williams off the hook, then coughed up the lead before winning in extra innings. Williams' last two starts have been decided after he exited, so he remains 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 12 strikeouts in 18.1 innings. His next start will likely come against the Giants.
