  • Tyler Mahle SP | ATL

Reds' Tyler Mahle: Suffers sixth loss

Mahle (2-6) allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits with two strikeouts and no walks across five innings while taking a loss against the Phillies on Friday.

The 24-year-old was cruising through four innings, but then in the fifth he yielded three straight hits, including a two-run homer to Jay Bruce. The other hit came around to score on a throwing error by Tucker Barnhart. Mahle has been inconsistent, but he's been better than his record, especially lately. He is 2-2 with a 3.99 ERA in his last six outings. Overall, Mahle owns a 4.21 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 69 strikeouts in 66.1 innings this season. He will face the Rangers at home in his next start Friday.

  • Zach Eflin SP | BAL

Phillies' Zach Eflin: Captures win in return

Eflin (6-5) allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with six strikeouts and four walks across 6.1 innings while earning a victory against the Reds on Friday.

The 25-year-old was wild in his return after missing his last start due to mid-back tightness and yielded a homer in the first inning. Following that frame, he only allowed one more unearned run. His seven strikeouts were his most in three weeks, and this was also his first win since May 11. Eflin now has a 2.88 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 57 strikeouts in 72 innings. His next start will come Wednesday at home against the Diamondbacks.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Braves' Dallas Keuchel: To start out at Triple-A

Keuchel has been optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett and will make his first start Saturday, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.

As expected, Keuchel will begin his season at Triple-A. He's in line to make two starts with the Stripers before being joining the big-league rotation, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com, putting him on track to make his first appearance as a Brave sometime during Atlanta's upcoming series with the Mets, which runs from June 17 to June 19.

  • Jose Urena SP | LAA

Marlins' Jose Urena: Lit up by Atlanta

Urena (4-7) allowed six runs on 11 hits and a walk while striking out two over three-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Braves.

Urena didn't fare well in this one, yielding two runs in the first inning, one in the second, one in the third and two more in the fourth before getting yanked. The 27-year-old had delivered five consecutive quality starts heading into Friday's outing, so this start appears to be just a blip on the radar for Urena. He'll look to bounce back in his next outing, which is scheduled for Wednesday against the Cardinals.

  • Mike Soroka SP | ARI

Braves' Mike Soroka: Hurls eight strong innings

Soroka (7-1) picked up the win Friday after allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out six over eight innings against the Marlins.

Soroka cruised through the first eight innings of his start before issuing a leadoff walk to begin the ninth frame, and he was pulled immediately afterwards. The baserunner would score later in the inning, though it wouldn't matter much in a 7-1 victory. The 21-year-old has secured a win in four of his last five outings, and his ERA has dropped to 1.41 over 57.1 innings this season as a result.

  • Miles Mikolas RP | WAS

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Shouldn't miss next start

Mikolas isn't expected to miss his next turn through the rotation following his removal from Friday's start against Chicago after being struck in the right forearm with a comebacker, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Mikolas is dealing with a bruise and a bit of swelling, but he avoided any structural damage. He should be ready to take the mound for Wednesday's matchup in Miami.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Cubs' Cole Hamels: Tosses eight scoreless frames

Hamels (5-2) threw eight scoreless innings Friday, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out 10 to earn the win over the Cardinals.

The 35-year-old hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 15 frames, but Hamels also had his best strikeout stuff working Friday afternoon. He reached a season-high 10 punchouts behind 22 swing-and-misses. Hamels is 5-2 but this was still a big win, because before Friday he had only posted one victory in his last eight outings. Hamels also has a 3.24 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 74 strikeouts in 77.2 innings. He will face a tall task in his next start at the Rockies on Wednesday.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Ready to roll

DeGrom (hip) is starting Friday's game against Colorado, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

DeGrom was lifted early from his last start against the Diamondbacks due to a hip cramp, but he's been cleared to toe the rubber Friday evening. He hasn't picked up a win since May 11 against the Marlins, so he'll aim to get back to winning ways against the visiting Rockies.

  • Ranger Suarez SP | BOS

Phillies' Ranger Suarez: Receives major-league callup

Suared was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

Suarez was unable to secure a spot on the Opening Day roster in spring training and has been working as a starter with the IronPigs. The 23-year-old received his first taste of the majors in 2018 and had a 5.40 ERA and 1.80 WHIP over 15 innings.

  • Zach Eflin SP | BAL

Phillies' Zach Eflin: Activated for Friday's start

Eflin (back) was activated off the 10-day injured list ahead of Friday's game against the Reds.

Eflin will end up missing just one start after landing on the injured list with mid-back tightness toward the end of May. The 25-year-old has been reliable so far in 2019 with a 3.02 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 51:14 K:BB through 11 starts.
