Max Fried SP | NYY
Braves' Max Fried: Dominates Phillies in win
Fried (3-0) tossed five scoreless innings Sunday, allowing four hits and a walk while earning the win in the second game of the doubleheader against the Phillies. He struck out six.
Fried was terrific with his fourth consecutive start allowing two or fewer runs to start the season. He put himself in a bit of danger in the fifth inning; a single, a walk and a hit batter loaded the bases, but Fried escaped after forcing Bryce Harper to fly out. The 26-year-old southpaw will carry a 1.59 ERA into Saturday's road matchup against the Marlins.

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Allows five runs in loss
Marquez (2-2) allowed five runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk across seven innings Sunday, striking out four and taking the loss against Seattle.
Marquez's two earned runs allowed came from a two-run shot by Dylan Moore in the first inning. He cruised until the seventh inning, when a fielding error led to three unearned runs scoring in the frame. Marquez still owns a 2.08 ERA and 27:6 K:BB. He'll get a home matchup against the Rangers on Saturday for his next start.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Giants' Kevin Gausman: Whiffs six in no-decision
Gausman allowed a run on three hits over 6.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Sunday. He struck out six and walked none.
Gausman was excellent in the outing, but perhaps he shouldn't have worked into the seventh inning. He allowed a one-out single to Cody Bellinger before Tyler Rogers came on in relief. It was Rogers who gave up a three-run homer three batters later to spoil Gausman's chance for his first win of the year. The 29-year-old Gausman has a 4.05 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 23 strikeouts over 20 innings this season. He'll next take the mound Saturday versus the Athletics.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Takes another no-decision
Buehler allowed two runs on a hit and four walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Sunday.
Buehler was strong in Sunday's contest, although he walked four of the six leadoff hitters he faced. The only hit he allowed was a two-RBI single to Mike Yastrzemski in the fifth inning. Sunday marked the first time Buehler pitched into the sixth this season. He has a 4.40 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 12 strikeouts in 14.1 innings. The right-hander is expected to face the Angels on the road Friday in his next start.

Pablo Lopez SP | MIN
Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Charged with loss Sunday
Lopez (1-1) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out four over five innings as he was charged with the loss Sunday against the Mets.
Lopez was quite sharp as he earned the win in his season debut, but he put himself in line for the loss Sunday after giving up three total runs. The right-hander struggled with control against the Mets as only 48 of his 80 pitches went for strikes. Despite his struggle to limit baserunners Sunday, Lopez has been a solid performer in the Marlins' rotation to begin the year. He'll attempt to get back into the win column at home Friday against Atlanta.

Seth Lugo SP | KC
Mets' Seth Lugo: Picks up third save
Lugo fired one scoreless inning as he earned the save Sunday against the Marlins. He allowed no runs and one walk while striking out one.
With Sunday's performance, Lugo now hasn't allowed a hit over his last four innings, and his walk against the Marlins was the first baserunner he's allowed during that time. The right-hander blew two save chances to end the month of July, but he still appears to have the trust of manager Luis Rojas in ninth-inning situations. The Mets' closer situation could become cloudier if Edwin Diaz continues to pitch well, but Lugo has been quite effective while handling closing duties recently.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Minor finger issue surfaces
DeGrom (2-0) allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings as he earned the win Sunday against the Marlins.
DeGrom was able to limit Miami's run production Sunday despite allowing nine baserunners over his five innings of work. As a result, he put himself in line for the win in the 4-2 contest. However, the right-hander revealed after the game that he felt a minor issue in his finger during the game, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports. He didn't sound too concerned about it, saying that it could be the start of a blister that shouldn't affect him. It's unlikely that he'll miss time due to his lack of concern about the severity, but deGrom's status could be worth monitoring ahead of his scheduled start in Philadelphia on Friday.

Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Struggles in return to mound
Strasburg allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out two over 4.1 innings in Sunday's contest against the Orioles. The game was suspended in the sixth inning.
Strasburg made his season debut after working through a nerve issue in his hand over the last few weeks. The right-hander tossed four clean frames to begin the game, but things unraveled in the fifth inning. He forced an out to begin the frame but then gave up five hits and one walk, which turned into five runs and led to his removal. Strasburg said after the game that he could feel the nerve irritation during the fifth inning but didn't think that he's doing long-term damage, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports. His next start should come on the road Friday against Baltimore.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Fans six in no-decision
Velasquez allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out six over four innings in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Braves. He didn't factor into the decision.
Velasquez had a rough outing his first time around this year, but he turned things around in the first game of Sunday's twin bill. He gave up a baserunner to begin the fifth inning prior to his removal, but the bullpen couldn't limit production during the rest of the frame en route to a 5-2 loss. However, Velasquez escaped with a no-decision. The right-hander will attempt to build on his momentum at home Friday against the Mets.

Huascar Ynoa SP | LAA
Braves' Huascar Ynoa: Effective in brief start
Ynoa allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one over 2.1 innings in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Phillies. He didn't factor into the decision.
Ynoa made his first MLB start in the first game of Sunday's twin bill, and he limited the Phillies' production despite lasting just 39 pitches. While the right-hander could be available to make spot starts for Atlanta this year, his primary role with the pitching staff should be as a lower-leverage reliever.
