Martinez (illness) will face live hitters Monday at Busch Stadium, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Martinez's next step will be determined by how well he recovers from Monday's session, and there continues to be talk the veteran could re-start his season in a relief role in order to get him back into action more quickly.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Strong effort wasted by bullpen

Wheeler didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 6-5 loss to Atlanta, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter.

The right-hander was sharp, throwing 71 of 105 pitches for strikes while setting a season high for strikeouts, and Wheeler took a shutout into the seventh inning before Austin Riley tagged him for a two-run shot. Unfortunately for the Phillies, the new high-leverage duo of Hector Neris and Brandon Workman proceeded to melt down in the eighth and ninth. Wheeler will take a 2.76 ERA and 20:6 K:BB through 32.2 innings into his next outing Friday in a rematch with Atlanta back at Citizens Bank Park.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Giants' Tyler Anderson: Goes distance for first win

Anderson (1-1) allowed one unearned run in nine innings to pick up the win against Arizona on Saturday. He yielded three hits and did not walk a batter while striking out four.

Anderson was sharp in his first career complete game, needing only 103 pitches to close out the victory. The only run against him came in the seventh inning as a result of a throwing error by Brandon Crawford, a stolen base and a single. The dominant performance was a significant improvement over Anderson's previous two outings, during which he gave up a combined nine runs over 10 innings. The southpaw will look to build upon his strong start when he heads to Arizona for a rematch with the Diamondbacks on Friday.

  • Zac Gallen SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Avoids damage in no-decision

Gallen did not factor in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Giants. He allowed one run on three hits and four walks while striking out six over six innings.

Gallen extended his quality-start streak to five games despite walking four batters, his most since he issued five free passes in his first start of 2020. However, Arizona hitters have slipped back into a funk -- five runs in the last four games -- and have given the right-hander little support. Gallen has yet to factor in a decision in any of his six starts despite posting a 2.25 ERA. He'll look for his first win Thursday at home against Colorado.

  • Zach Davies SP | WAS

Padres' Zach Davies: Cruises to fourth win

Davies (4-2) earned the win against Houston on Saturday, going eight innings and allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Davies allowed a first-inning run before San Diego staked him to a 10-run lead through two frames, allowing the right-hander to glide to an easy win. His eight innings established a season high while he notched a season-best seven strikeouts. Davies has now allowed three or fewer earned runs in each of his six starts in 2020, resulting in a solid 3.03 overall ERA. He'll next take the mound in a road game at Colorado on Friday.

  • Sixto Sanchez SP | MIA

Marlins' Sixto Sanchez: Brings heat in debut

Sanchez (1-0) picked up the win in a 5-3 victory over the Nationals during the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, allowing three runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out four without walking a batter.

Making his big-league debut, Sanchez quickly flashed the velocity that's made him a top prospect as he popped 100 mph on the radar gun four times in the first inning alone. He also showed good control, throwing 46 of 66 pitches for strikes, but he perhaps got too much of the plate as the Nats launched two homers off him to account for all three runs. It was still a very impressive beginning to his career, and the 22-year-old figures to remain in the Miami rotation for the rest of the year and well into the future. It's not clear when Sanchez will next take the mound, but if he stays on normal rest he'll get a road start against the Mets on Thursday.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Fans six in no-decision

Freeland gave up three runs on four hits and three walks and struck out six over six innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Saturday.

The Rockies gave Freeland a lead in the top of the seventh inning, but he loaded the bases before reliever Yency Almonte allowed an inherited runner to score in the bottom half of the inning. That left Freeland with his third no-decision in his last four starts. The southpaw has a 2.87 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 24 strikeouts across 37.2 innings this season. Freeland is expected to make his next start Thursday in Arizona.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Hurt by long ball

Hendricks (3-3) allowed three earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three across 5.1 innings to take the loss Saturday against the White Sox.

Hendricks surrendered two home runs, one in the second inning and the other to lead off the sixth inning. He was fairly strong in between, allowing only one other extra-base hit. Despite taking consecutive losses, Hendricks still maintains a 3.55 ERA and impressive 28:4 K:BB across 38 innings this season. He's penciled in to take his next turn through the rotation Friday at Cincinnati.

  • Dustin May SP | MIL

Dodgers' Dustin May: Strong in no-decision

May gave up a run on two hits and two walks with one strikeout in five innings in a no-decision Saturday versus the Rockies.

The only damage on May's line was a solo shot by Sam Hilliard. The 22-year-old May has yet to allow more than two runs in an appearance this season. He has a 2.79 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 20 strikeouts in 29 innings, but he's just 1-1 since he doesn't tend to pitch deep into games. May lines up to face the Rangers on Friday in his next start.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Reds' Wade Miley: Yields three runs in loss

Miley (0-3) gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out three in five innings in a loss to the Cardinals on Saturday.

Miley gave up a two-run single to Tommy Edman in the third inning and a solo shot to Harrison Bader in the fifth to account for the offense against him. Saturday was the first time this season that Miley has pitched past the second inning. He's got a 9.72 ERA, 2.40 WHIP and eight strikeouts in 8.1 innings. The 33-year-old lefty will continue searching for his first win when he faces the Cubs on Friday.
