Austin Gomber SP | TEX
Cardinals' Austin Gomber: Strong outing Thursday
Gomber didn't factor into the decision in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Tigers, allowing five hits and a walk over three scoreless innings. He struck out six.
The southpaw continues his impressive campaign, tossing 44 of 63 pitches for strikes in his longest appearance of the year. Gomber has only been scored upon once in 10 outings, leading to a 0.53 ERA and 19:10 K:BB through 17 innings, and with the Cards' schedule holding three more doubleheaders over the next eight days, another spot start is likely headed his way.

Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Fans six in third win
Flaherty (3-1) picked up the win in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Tigers, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out six.

Zack Wheeler SP | PHI
Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Won't start Saturday
Manager Joe Girardi announced Thursday that Wheeler will not be able to make his scheduled Saturday start due to an issue with the nail on his middle finger, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
In a very strange occurrence, Wheeler caught his nail putting on his pants and won't be able to pitch until Monday at the earliest, according to Girardi. The Phillies will now go with a bullpen game during the second half of Friday's twin bill, with Spencer Howard's start being pushed to Saturday.

Dustin May SP | MIL
Dodgers' Dustin May: Exits after comebacker hits foot
May exited Thursday's game prior to the second inning after being hit on the foot by a comebacker in the first, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Josh Rojas lined an infield single off May's foot in the first inning, but the right-hander was able to convince Dave Roberts and the medical staff to allow him to stay in the game. The right-hander went out to warm up prior to the second, but was replaced by Victor Gonzalez after appearing to not be moving well. The extent of the injury is not yet known.

Paddack was removed from Thursday's game against the Giants at the start of the third inning for an undisclosed reason, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Heads to IL with blister
Buehler (blister) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to Sept. 9.
The blister issue emerged during the right-hander's outing Wednesday in which he lasted just 2.2 innings against the Diamondbacks. The Dodgers were hopeful that he would be able to make his next scheduled start, but now he will miss at least one turn through the rotation. He will be eligible to be activated from the injured list Sept. 20.

Tony Gonsolin RP | KC
Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Considered available out of bullpen
Manager Dave Roberts announced Thursday that Gonsolin is currently considered available out of the bullpen, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Although Roberts said Gonsolin is available out of the bullpen if needed, the right-hander seems to be a strong candidate to start Sunday's game against the Astros. Gonsolin holds a stellar 0.76 ERA across 23.2 innings pitched on the campaign.

Julio Urias SP | LAD
Dodgers' Julio Urias: Set to start Saturday
Urias will start Saturday's game against the Astros, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
The southpaw is coming off a shaky outing in which he allowed four runs over 4.1 innings against the Rockies, so he will certainly be looking to work deeper into the game Saturday against Houston. The 24-year-old is 3-0 with a 3.86 ERA to go along with 35 strikeouts on the campaign.
